My heart soared when I found the Spring 2019 GOURMET MAG, a publication I did not know existed until I kicked around NetGalley in a coffee-induced insomnia. And what a find! Italy is second on my bucket list and now I have all the info I need to explore lush Palermo.

The issue is rich with gorgeous photos, delicious recipes and beguiling text, stunning art work and architecture, even poetry, music and YouTube suggestions! Let the author welcome you as I give an enthusiastic 5/5:

I loved the style of this ‘book’ it’s like going for a walk with a local. Chatty text, simple and interesting information, invitations to look more closely, beautiful photographs. With the addition of some lovely local recipes.
Only it’s not a book! It’s a quarterly magazine called Gourmet Magazine. If the magazine is anything like the this issue I would like to read more.
It’s quite short but well worth the read.

What a delight to read this issue on Palermo! Reading the verses by Giovenni Melo, looking at the pictures of the colorful streets of the city, thinking of the recipes suggested was a true journey for the senses but also for the mind.

Lovely! The issue I read was the Palermo/Easter edition. I have been to Italy, and so want to go back. Your magazine increases my desire! The photos are beautiful. I love the recipes, even if they are a bit too labor-intensive for me, and not sure where I would find some of the ingredients. Still, it was a delight to read and get lost in Palermo for an afternoon.

The Palermo issue of Gourmet Mag is a beautiful tour of this Italian city on the island of Sicily. The photography is spectacular, the recipes are luscious and there is just the right amount of text. I felt as though I was being given a personal tour by someone who truly loves Italy and all of its sights and tastes. It is a wonderful introduction to Palermo and I’m ready to start planning a trip to see it all in person.

I enjoyed this magazine. This is the Palermo issue of the Gourmet Magazine, a quarterly magazine made in Rome. This issue includes what to do, see and eat in Sicily and gives an insight into this charming region, tradition, food and the people.

Claudia is and Italian Venezuelan with all of the charm and grace of a perfect hostess. She takes the reader on a journey through Palermo, Sicily with this innate joy and charm and all of that Italian passion.

Sounds corny? Maybe, but by the end I wanted to book a ticket and I have noted a couple of her included local recipes that I will definitely try. (Tortellini with ham, Swordfish wraps and red currant vinegar to name a few.

The pictures are beautiful with detailed explanations. Each tourist stop gives you a sense of where you are, the importance in the local culture. I adored this Mag and will look for the other issues (Kindle Unlimited if you have it) in order to plan my next trip to Italy.

This magazine, lavishly illustrated with photographs, is an ode to all things Italian, and in this issue, the beautiful city of Palermo. Filled with travel notes, food history, and above all, recipes, Gourmet Mag is a treat for the senses. You will be longing, not just to travel to Italy, but to move to an apartment in Rome where you can hunt down arcane ingredients, and share the love of food and drink of Claudia, the author of this stunningly beautiful indie publication.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. This is a beautiful book written as journal about cooking. living and exploring Italy. It is filled with lots of amazing pictures that transport you to Italy and will leave you wanting to hop on the next plane to Italy.

Published four times a year, this magazine is full of beautiful photos and information! I need to get a subscription for my husband! He would love this! I highly recommend! Great content!

A Historic and Gastronomic Tour of Palermo

I wasn't sure what to expect about this “book” that is named after the now-defunct magazine. What I found is a curious combination of travelogue, history, and recipes, with plenty of pictures of both the recipes and Palermo. This is an intensely personal book. In the early parts of it, she takes you on little day trips around the vicinity, seeing both places of historic interest as well as foodie places. There aren't many recipes in the first part of the book, but as the book goes on, more and more recipes show up. I absolutely loved the photographs as well as her descriptions of Palermo and the recipes. I felt like I was walking the streets with her, which is certainly fun for an armchair traveler. The recipes themselves are written in both metric and Imperial measure, though I am always leery of Imperial measures that have been derived from a metric source. The collection of recipes I would call quirky, some that are specific to Palermo or Sicily and others that are more pan Italian in nature. There are lots of fun ideas in here, from main dishes to snacks and even offbeat things like digestivos. If you like a little bit of food with your armchair traveling, you may very well enjoy this book.

By the way, I think this ebook is best enjoyed on a tablet or computer, not a standard Kindle. You'll lose the effect of all the lovely photographs on a black-and-white Kindle.

A GREAT job! Gourmet Mag was exactly what I had been looking for, and I was not disappointed. Looking forward to seeing more work from this author in the future.
