Lithia, a black-eyed witch, is on the run from a ruthless king who is intent on killing all witches in the land.
She pairs up with Ronan, a former royal guard who is also wanted by the king, and together they hatch a plot to assassinate the malevolent ruler.
Their journey takes them across the kingdom and sets them in the path of the deadliest creatures. As they fight their way through, their attraction grows. But the secrets they are keeping from each other could unravel the whole plan and threaten their very survival.
It was a bit difficult to get into the swing of the story. Once I did, I enjoyed it. The rest of the book was a fast read. There are trigger warnings for those who are sensitive to them. The book has scenes that are graphically violent and sexual situations. Otherwise, I enjoyed the book. I don't normally read novels in this genre so it was a pleasant surprise. I recommend this book.
