“I've never read anything quite like it before. The tongue-in-cheek humor and squirrel protagonists in a slightly off kilter fantasy world is like a delightful combination of Terry Prachett's Discworld series meets Watership Down.” Rebecca, Amazon Reviewer.

“Excellent children's story that this adult loved! I read the second book and then purchased this book even after receiving it as an ARC free from the author because it is that good.” Patricia, Amazon Reviewer.

“A story great for bed time. 5 stars to the author for making me laugh…” Issy, Amazon Reviewer.

“This book of short stories about Jerry the Squirrel and his madcap inventing escapades made me laugh and smile a lot. They are very daft, but very enjoyable too.” Lolah, Amazon Reviewer.

“I read it out loud to my son and he loved it!” Lady Lark, Amazon Reviewer.

Thank you #netgallery for the eARC!

Jerry the Squirrel is a series of short stories written as children bedtime stories. It was very entertaining and enjoyable. Very laughable as well!

I am not a child, nor do I have small children and I have never played one on TV. But I loved reading Jerry the Squirrel. You get a glimpse of Mr. Robinson's since of humor in his introduction page.
“Now, for those of you who like allegory or deeper meaning in books, please understand that this book is intended not to have deeper meaning or allegory. Feel free to search for it, but don't be disappointed if you come up with really insightful meanings for characters or experiences or places and at the end of the day....you're just wrong. Characters/places/etc. Do not represent anything else (even in the book). It's a fun book.”

This collection of ten short stories is perfect for family reading or for a slightly older child to read on their own. Mr. Robinson has a great imagination and sense of humor. I can see why his children enjoyed these stories. I received a complementary copy of this beautiful book from the author and Brainswell Publishing through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.

the story is enjoyable for an adult to read to youngsters under 2nd grade riding level. Grade 3 and up will be able to read themselves. The story held my grandchildren interest, ages 4 and 6 .

I'm a big fan of squirrels because they're so utterly insane and so proud of it to boot. I couldn't not read a book about them, and I'm glad I did in this case as it happens, because it was amusing and entertaining. Jerry is an inventor and while he doesn't necessarily always think things through, he does carry things through, and he never conceives of a solution to a problem without actually designing and building that solution. That's when the real problem starts, unfortunately.

Cold floor? That calls for super-duper slipper solution! Nut harvest time? That clearly calls for a nut-harvesting machine! Nut beetle invasion? That calls for...well, Jerry has some issues with the solution to that one!

The slippers, the first story in what, in effect, amounts to a collection of short stories about Jerry, was by far the most amusing to me. It was inspired, and I loved it. The impact of the subsequent stories seemed less after that one, but they were still eminently entertaining even when the rather-annoying Gary and his mom moved in upstairs.

If I have a complaint it was that I felt Jerry ought to have been granted some reward, somewhere along the trail, in some fashion or other, but the hapless squirrel never seems to get one. While this is amusing in some ways, I can't help but wonder if children who read this might be induced to feel that being creative is a forlorn and pointless exercise because of poor Jerry's singular lack of lasting success and recognition.

That aside, the stories were amusingly-written, inventive, and engaging and I commend this as a worthy read.

This was a delightful book! Surprisingly short, I finished it in less than a day. It was full of adventure and hilarious mishaps, courtesy of Jerry and his very interesting neighbors. I thought that the author adding his family into part of the story was such a lovely touch as well. And the illustrations were adorable!
