Description

Who killed Kendra Farrell and left her bound, dehydrated body on a boxcar loaded with Army boots?

Army CID agents Rudy Chelmin and his rookie partner, Will Spaulding, trace the train’s route back to Barstow, CA, and the Marine Corps Supply Depot. Before they can begin a joint-service investigation, they come under attack by a determined and heavily armed international gang. As they try to unwrap the mystery of Kendra’s death they must take out a sniper, escape from an RPG attack that levels a city block, and dodge a car bomb—and that’s just the first few days.

To find Kendra’s killer they must learn why she was killed. As they unravel a mind-twisting snarl of nefarious, intertwined networks, they must also battle the bureaucracy—The FBI, Homeland Security, and the Barstow police want their share of the case.

Then Chelmin vanishes and Spaulding has only three days to learn if his partner will suffer Kendra’s agonizing fate.

A great opening book in a new series. It's storyline had me invested in the characters right away. And I will definitely be watching and waiting for book two.

This book is fast pasted and full of constant movement and involvement. I'm already a huge fan of anything military suspense add to that mystery and thriller and you have my favorite thing to read. Chelmin and Spaulding make a great combo and they play perfectly off one another.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The first part of this book is truely excellent. Straight into the action and building curiosity both of the murder mystery and the characters.
The rest of the book is a police procedural with some action, very extensive, but never boring. Well written and easy to read except a good number of characters to keep track of, but you won't put the book down enough to make that a problem.

Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this title. This is a standard police procedural story, or more accurately a military police story that begins an interesting relationship between an experienced, older detective and his new side-kick. The characters are well developed and the story keeps you interested. The side stories are not extensive enough to interfere with the action and the love interest of the older cop is not the usual hot romp quickie. A good beach read.

This is a complex story that might confuse so you need to keep your wits about you when reading it! I thought it was interesting in the way that the Army, Navy, FBI and local PD were interlinked in solving the murders and the rationale for them.
Keep the story straight and the various characters involved, and you will enjoy the book...

This is the first, in a new series, and the first time for my reading of a book by this author. I was more than pleased with the characters and story line. He was able to get my attention in the first few pages of the book and retain it until the last page. There is action from the beginnings to the last page. I felt there was literary license taken in some parts but it did not detract from the overall story or prevent me from enjoying the story immensely. I read the teaser for the second book, in the series, and look forward to reading it when it comes out. If you are a fan of action adventures stories you will not want to pass this one by.

I am a retired military Special Agent and I would purchase this book for myself and friends. I have rated this book 4.5 stars.

I received an ARC from Netgalley for my unbiased review.

The storyline for this book was good. It wasn’t the kind of book I would normally ready but I liked it enough to give it four stars. Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book. #netgalley

I was given a copy of this book for review purposes.

This is a well-written action novel. The pace of the storyline kept me reading this book until I had completed it. I found the agents to be believable and the action scenes to be rather enjoyable, if at times rather over the top. I really enjoyed this book, made a great escape from my day.
