Absolutely enjoyed reading about Poppy, Rico, Emilia and Lucy’s story.
Such a lovely book. The emotions/feelings they went through, the hardships, sadness and joy.
Loved the countries that were mentioned and the way they were transcribed.
To know what people went through in those times and how they felt was a good insight if you’ve not lived that life.
Really enjoyed reading about those times. Felt sad in places when poppy describes her past and when Emilia faced heartache. Definitely recommend it.

A searing saga about a family with a curse in love that they wish to break. What better way than to escape to your aunt’s home in Italy?

A lovely story about a woman’s journey in love and luck set in and around Italy. This is quite a guide to the cultural quirks and charm of the country as well as a personal journey of the characters in the story. The trouble is however, when you travel to find out one thing, you end up finding out much more than you bargained for. Aunt Poppy who has asked two girls in her family to stay in her villa to help break the love curse has secrets of her own!

From New York to Italy, via a heartbreaking story of the past which takes us to Berlin during the war……this is a story to soak in with the sunshine on your face and a glass of something in your hand.

What a perfect antidote to these depressing times is this charming , funny , sad and engaging book. I dived right in and became totally invested in the lives and loves of a family supposedly blighted by a curse which declared the second daughters could never find love. The story unfolds through the reminiscences of the adorable Paulina, or Poppy as she is known, who persuades two of her nieces to accompany her on a journey from America back to her native Italy where she hopes to meet her lost love on her 80th birthday. Aunt Poppy is an outcast in the family and it takes real courage and hope for the nieces to defy their indomitable Nonna and embark on an adventure which would change their lives forever. The love story that is revealed during the course of the trip is captivating and heartbreaking and I found myself reaching for the tissues more than once! I don't want to give any spoilers but I heartily recommend this gorgeous book. .I'd love a sequel!

I really really loved this book!

I requested this book, because of the writer. I loved her novel The life list and rewarded it with five stars. But the second book I read: Sweet forgiveness was a disappointment. But now I read her newest novel One Italian summer / (The star-crossed sisters of Tuscany) its five stars again.

Emily, Lucy and Poppy, three second daughters who will never find love according to the Fontana curse, are travelling together trough Italy. It’s a life changing adventure. Will Poppy meet her true love again after 60 years? And will find Emily and Lucy find who they really are?

It has humor, love and drama. I loved the three second daughters and the way they discover their true selfs. The setting of Italy is great and the part of Aunt Poppy telling her life story is heartbreaking. Lori Nelson Spielman is writing the story with so much love. Its like being there all the time, in New York and in Italy. The characters are strong and lovable (not all of them…). It’s a great adventure and I love reading this novel from begin to end, and laught and cried.

One thing is for sure: Stop thinking it’s impossible! Nothing is impossible, its possible!

One Italian Summer is the first book I’ve read by this author. It follows the story of three women and one family curse - no second-born daughter in the Fontana family has ever married.

Lucy is desperate to find love, her cousin Emilia sees the curse as a blessing. Then we have Great Aunt Poppy who announces she will reunite with her long lost love in Italy on her eightieth birthday.

This is a beautifully written story, full of emotive and evocative prose. You are taken on a journey with the three women and get to share their experiences, adventures and secrets. I enjoyed every page of this book.

Thank you to NetGalley, Avon Books UK and the author for the chance to review.
