Realistic characters and good dialogue. Storyline was very interesting early on and kept me reading to find out the secret of Camp Lenape.

Ending seemed to wind up a bit fast, but maybe I wanted it to go on a bit longer.

This book for middle school students and young teens is apparently part of a series about a group of high school sleuths. In this story, the mystery is set at a summer camp and the young detectives indeed solve a fiendish crime involving not only cooked books but illicit substances, also cooked.

While I enjoy reading books for the intended audience of this particular book, I have to say that this adult is not over the moon. However, how I responded to it as an adult and how the intended audience are likely to respond are completely different, and I think the young people who read this book will discover it’s a rollicking good mystery with just enough “love interest “ to keep things moving.

I received this book as an ARC from the publisher and NetGalley.

Terrific YA Mystery Story !

Summer camp time has finally arrived with four new junior counselors who have been friends for many years and also attended this camp when they were younger children. A child goes missing in the night and the counselors are told that she went home but a few of the the other children saw a strange man in their cabin the night the child went missing but the adults wouldn't take their stories seriously. The four young teens then become young detectives knowing that something is not right on the campgrounds and they start to investigate other odd happenings that will take them on a dangerous and sinister journey of their beloved camp.

Camp Lenape was a fast and enjoyable read for me. The characters were fun and interesting and very well rounded. The storyline was mysterious and the prologue was wonderful and had me hooked from the first page.
I think the book is geared for mature fourteen years of age readers and older due to some of the subject matter which I found interesting and entertaining with being an older adult. I hope the author Timothy R. Baldwin will write a series around to this group of young adults and I definitely will be back to find out what other trouble these teens can delve into.

I want to thank the publisher "Booksgosocial" and Netgalley for allowing me the opportunity to read this exciting YA book and hoping there will be more stories to follow!

I highly recommend this terrific book and have given a rating of 4 1/2 Exciting 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌠

CAMP LENAPE is an early-YA (c. Age 14, early high school) novel, both engaging and intriguing, which I enjoyed very much, and hope to see the protagonists return. Alissa, Marcus, Nate, and Janice are long-time friends and long-term Camp Lenape campers. This year the four are junior counsellors and Marcus' younger sister Bri is a camper. Nate and Marcus enjoy investigative adventures, and stumble into an actual case, both factual and potentially deadly! The characters are well-drawn and immediately elicit reader's empathy and the situation is realistic.

This mystery is very suitable for young teens, and can be enjoyed by all. The characters and the dialogue are good, but the plot is a little weak. What I really don't like, is the changing POV. The author is all-knowing, so keep it third person.

Thanks to NetGalley, BooksGoSocial for ARC provided.

Such a excellent YA book, well written, realistic, with brave and heroic teenagers characters. I absolutely enjoyed reading this and reminds me of “The Famous Five” from Enid Blyton with their many mystery cases and excellent adventures.

Who could’ve thought that you’re going into Summer Camp, learning how to grow your personal character and doing fun activities but end up get involved with a challenging thrilling adventures, with smart skills and very brave like the character of Alissa and her friends, you’ve managed to revealed a hidden mysteries!

Thanks to Timothy R. Baldwin for the excellent book

This book was actually brilliant, I have to admit I didn't expect it to be this good. I thought that the four main characters were brought to life on the page so well, I was really rooting for them! Alissa, Marcus, Janice and Nate and even some of the younger campers were really 3D and all acted typically to the age they were being portrayed as - which I really enjoyed.

The storyline itself wasn't over-complicated, but that lent itself well to the development and allowed the reader to feel like we were going on the journey to discover what was going on.

At points, I felt like this book was a bit Goosebumps-esque which is likely why I enjoyed it so much, it had that level of thrill that makes you want to keep reading but at the same time makes you want to check under the bed for monsters.

Then, the development about two thirds of the way through made it feel more grown-up, which I think will go down well with YA fans.

On the whole, I really really enjoyed this and as it's book 1 in the series then I'm really looking forward to reading later books!

A sincere thank you to the publisher, author and Netgalley for providing me with an ebook copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This is not my usual genre, I’m more into romance stories and literary fiction however I wanted to take the opportunity to read something from outside my norm. And I am glad I did!! Thank you for  opening up my mind to something totally different.

The story was very interesting early on and it kept me reading to find out the secret of Camp Lenape. The adults were awful, and it wrapped up a bit fast for me. A good mystery geared more for teens than young adult.
