Description
He never meant to stay.
He certainly never meant to fall in love…
Summer Island off the coast of Norway was the place London chef Jack Greene should have been from. He’s an outsider in the community that should have been his family, and now he’s setting foot on the strange land he has inherited for the first time.
Ninni Toft, his nearest neighbour, has come to the island to mend her broken heart. With her wild spirit and irrepressible enthusiasm, she shows city-boy Jack the simple pleasures of island life – and what it means to belong. To a place. To a people. To one person in particular…
Home is where the heart is, but is Jack’s heart with the career he left behind in London, or on the wind-swept shores of Summer Island, with Ninni?
Summer Island is just what you need right now! Don’t believe us? Look at what our readers think:

Summer Island is a wonderful read, that I heartily recommend. Norway, a country that I'm not too familiar with, however, after reading this book, it's given me a great insight into how Norwegians live and it was a nice change from a story set in the Uk. My taste buds were tingling at the descriptions of the foods, the author did an excellent job of describing the sights and sounds and she really brought her characters to life. I loved Ninni Toft who was the heart and soul of the story, and I loved the close relationship that she shared with Petter, her Dad. I also loved Frikk, a delightful character - how Ninni adores him! His little antics really made me smile and in one scene, I really felt on edge... Oh, how I would love to live on the Island, the closeness of the inhabitants, to share in their get-togethers and celebrations, relaxed and so different to living in a city or even a town in the Uk. Jack and Ninni initially meet in a not so pleasant way. Ninni is on her way to her Dad's island home and unbeknown to both of them, Jack is on his way there, too. The Islanders soon have some questions for this stranger and I wondered myself how the story would progress. I took a dislike to a few characters, (they can't all be good!) and the rest, I loved. I liked each of them and their characteristics, and the author couldn't have made them anymore believable on the page. I think Jen was wonderful and who from the beginning, kept an open mind about Jack. I knew all along what I would like to see happen in the story and I enjoyed every minute of it. I found it emotional at times and I can't express enough how beautifully written this story is. It is heartwarming, full of hope, love, friendship, fun and is everything that friends and family should be! Thank you to Harper Collins UK, One More Chapter via NetGalley |

A charming read set on a Norwegian island. The unique setting was really lovely and a breath of fresh air. The character's lives were interesting and I liked the concept of Jack returning to a place where he could have grown up and lived a completely different life. Also, love a dog in a story! This was summery, light and fun. |

Romance set on an idyllic island in Norway. The heroine is strong-minded but sympathetic and the hero is a little angry and out of his depth but likeable. There are no surprises in this story, but the characters are all well drawn and interesting and the descriptions of the island and life on it are fascinating. Highly recommended. |

Absolutely charming! A delightful romantic escape to a small island off the coast of Norway. Likable characters, strong sense of place, and a gentle romance makes this an enjoyable read. Thanks to netgalley/author/publisher for an advance copy. Highly recommended. |

I absolutely adored the setting and story of this book. I now yearn to travel to Norway to experience the people, food and culture. From Jack and Ninni’s first encounter I was hooked. Ninni is a no nonsense kind of woman just out of a bad break-up and doesn’t take well to the new Englishman, Jack, in town. Jack is an out of place chef who has just inherited land on the island. This is a perfect book to read when you are looking for something light, romantic and want to get away from the everyday hustle and bustle of life. I want to thank NetGalley, the author and publisher for the e-ARC of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are honest, my own and left voluntarily. |
