Description

The account of Joseph’s life in the Bible begins with a seventeen year old being sold off as a slave and concludes with that same slave becoming second-in-command of all ancient Egypt. If you have always wanted to know what it would have been like for Joseph in the context of that time in Egypt, then this book is for you. Following the Biblical narrative carefully and with research into ancient Egypt of the time, I paint a picture of what Joseph would have experienced. Everything included in this story has a foundation either from the Bible itself or from historical texts.

This book carries you to ancient times. The story begins in Bethel when Joseph was a little boy, and ends with reconciliation with his family. In between are the experiences of his eventful life: the dreams from God, being sold to merchants, the journey to Egypt, life as a slave, in the prison, his promotion by Pharaoh and life as a leader. The Bible account is stirring on its own, but here you will get more detail and new perspectives. What you read will intrigue, inform, move and inspire you. It is a beautiful testament of God’s faithfulness.

The once-familiar stories of the Bible are not very well-known today. Martin tackles the story of a young man who persevered through trials and dangers. Imagine if you were your dad's favorite child and your siblings sold you as a slave. Or if you were imprisoned unjustly - and then became ruler of a nation.

It's an impossible story - except that it happened thousands of years ago in Egypt. Read this, complete with historical background and creative non-fiction, and you'll come to admire and respect a young man who stayed true to his convictions. His obedience made him the man of the hour and God's solution in a natural disaster.

Recommended either as an easy read or as a story to read to kids and teens.

I particularly enjoyed the reading Joseph of Egypt by Martin K.M. because of the interesting historical data it provides. From the start, the book allows the reader to feel part of the Biblical events and experiences Joseph faced. I especially enjoyed the human side pointed out in the book and how modern people can relate to the sadness expressed in the storyline. The book maintains the reality of life experienced by Joseph since his childhood and the continuous dangers he encountered. I recommend this book to any person who enjoys historical novels but also wants to learn about specific Biblical individuals and their life struggles. The book follows a clear narrative without losing the storyline in the middle of the plot. I, therefore, continued to read the novel until completion. I will definitely read another book published by the same author.

It's funny how many times I've heard the story of Joseph, read the story of Joseph, listened to preacher's preach about Joseph... but here's the thing when you find yourself in your own "Egypt" the story takes on an entirely new meaning. Looking forward to sharing this with my son (9 years old).

This is a lovely, straightforward version of the story of Joseph. I appreciated that it stuck closely to the Bible but added some details based on the historical record. There was a clear narrative but without too much fluff based on speculation. A great, quick read for a Sunday.

Thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

A biblical narrative yet a dream inspired Joseph of Egypt a slave is sold back into slavery.
I recommend this book for Christians, and those who wish to learn more about religion and spirituality along with the story of Joseph. I also recommend Theology students to read to enhance their understanding about the slavery m suffering and oppression that Joseph went through and how he will inspire you in his faithfulness with God.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Simon & Schuster Australia through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
