Before I Say I Do is a standout debut thriller from Vicki Bradley.
The novel is told from the points of view of Julia Talbot, and police detective Alana Loxton. I was immediately drawn into Julia's story, which starts with her wedding day when her fiancé Mark is missing. She's an intriguing character with secrets in her past and I was hooked from chapter 1 to find out more. I really liked the relationship and lively dialogue between DC Alana Loxton and her colleague, Kowalkski, who are brought into investigate the missing person case. Vicki Bradley's police background really brings the plot and characters to life, making it feel really authentic and natural as the reader is placed in the middle of the action. The shines through not only in the police procedures, but also in the description of places and the emotional richness of the characters.
The plot is full of twists and turns as the secrets and lies of the characters start to unfold. The ending took me by surprise. I really enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend it to readers who love unputdownable psychological thrillers. I read a lot of books in this genre and Before I Say I Do is definitely up there among my favourite reads so far of 2020.

I'm glad that I picked up this book to read. I didn't know this author before but I picked it up because of its plot and I must say that I'm not dissatisfied. Its a mind blowing thriller.
