Really good read. Would recommend to friends and family. I could sympathise with characters (important for any fiction novel!) and looked forward to picking it up and reading the next few chapters! Interesting plot line and a good ending. Will look out for more novels by the author. Thank you.

Sam disappeared without trace. Her family waited years for news of her - then her sister gets the news that Sam has a son and needs Freya to look after him for a while while Sam sorts herself out. But is everything as it seems?
I particularly liked the character of Dino in this story, as he struggles to cope with everything new in his life. The story twists and turns while Sam seems to remain just out of reach. An excellent read.

Firstly a big thank you to the publishers for my copy to review on netgalley. I read this authors debut, well under this name and loved it.

This is a powerfully emotive story of love, loss, family and new beginnings. What is family? Is it iust blood related or can it be more .

What happens when answers are finally given to someones disappearance..

Beautifully written and captures love and warmth.

Sadie writes from the heart and about sensitive subject matters in a expert way.

Oh my word what a book! I have just read it in one sitting and my emotions are shot! I don't want to spoil the book for anyone but there are so many difficult issues faced in this book - Sadie Pearse has a fantastic writing style and drip feeds you the facts. I was completely taken by this book, I wanted to know what happened to all of the characters.

The surprise in the book - I definitely didn't see it coming and, to the publishers, please don't change the tagline to include hinting at the fact there is a surprise, leave it to the reader to find out for themselves.

I was completely engrossed by this book and would definitely recommend it to others.

Freya’s sister, Sam, ran away from home eighteen years ago, but Freya has never given up hope that one day she’ll come home. So when Sam gets in touch out of the blue asking for Freya’s help looking after her son, Freya doesn’t think twice about welcoming him into her home. But things just aren’t quite right... There’s something unsettling about her nephew, and just where has Sam been all this time?

Before starting this book I was quite unsure what to expect, and I’m pleased to honestly be able to say it surpassed my expectations. I really liked Pearse’s writing style and was hooked by the storyline, quickly becoming invested in the various characters. I felt that Pearse drip-fed clues and information beautifully throughout the book and this gave it a really good pace.

The characters were all very likeable, including those battling certain issues, and I loved seeing the relationships develop as the story unfolded. The twist near the end took me completely by surprise and I found the ending satisfying as it provided me with the closure I needed after such an emotionally-charged storyline. A definite recommendation from me!

One of the Family is a rare gift - a story filled to the brim with emotion that examines family, love and guilt. You won’t be able to put it down and it will stay in your thoughts long after you’ve finished the final page.

Freya’s beautiful, fiery sister Sam ran away eighteen years ago and the loss devastated her family. Today Freya still lives in the same small town, has a career she loves, two daughters and is separated from her husband, although they have remained friends. She’s never given up hope that one day Sam will return home. Of course, she’s thrilled when she receives an email from Sam asking for help. She needs to “go away for a while” and wants Freya to take care of her seven year old son Dino. Freya agrees, anticipating a restored relationship with her sister. What happens next is definitely not expected.

Sadie Pearse is a talented writer who skillfully develops her characters while unrolling a story that is a mystery mixed with a family drama. Freya’s relationship with her teenage daughter is incredibly accurate and well described. Dino is an emotionally damaged child who doesn’t know how to fit into a happy family. His struggles are heartbreaking. 5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, Little, Brown Book Group UK and Sadie Pearse for this ARC.
