The Last Dragon Rider -An Adventure in Presadia, is just that an adventure that is filled with suspense, thrills and excitement. The book captures the readers attention from the very beginning, when we are introduced to Anavah, a girl who has a past that she is fighting to suppress. She is alone in the land of Persadia and just trying to survive. All that changes when she meets a mysterious tinker in the middle of a garbage heap. Why is he here? What is he doing? He is intrigued by her many questions she is intrigued by his desire to give her a pair of goggles that will change her life. Those goggles take her on a fantastic adventure, she meets her dragon, trains to be a dragon rider and has to make a decision on helping or fighting against the king. What decision does Anavah make in the end, is it the right one?

The Last Dragon Rider An Adventure in Presadia by Luke Aylen is a middle grade children's fantasy science fiction that children 8 to 12 years will enjoy. It is about a young street-smart girl, Anavah that lives a tough life on the crime-ridden streets of northern Presadia. When a mysterious tinker gives her a curious set of crystal goggles, she discovers a powerful magic that changes her life. Drawn into an adventure that stretches across time and space, she learns about the legendary dragon riders and is caught up in events that will transform Presadia's history.

Squiggly time, in which the story goes back and forth in time, makes the storyline a little confusing for the reader. There is a lot of suspense and thrill that keeps the reader interested in reading this story such as what will Anavah decide to do? Will she help overthrow the king or be on the king's side. The story is packed with magical creatures like dwarves, dragons, elves, and more looking into big ideas such as trust, betrayal, fear, bravery, greed, and sacrifice of individuals that lead to a struggle for Presadia's existence.

Dr Who meets Eragon with a dash of Oliver Twist.

A whimsical, heart felt and fast paced adventure. I adore dragons, and stories that centre on them, I feel that this could have had even more dragon action in it, at times there were area's that felt a little rushed and I would have loved to get to know some of the characters a little better.

I did enjoy the character development and the concept of portal hopping through time, I also enjoyed the fact that there were different races working together.

I absolutely loved this book, and will happily be reading the other books in the series by this fantastically creative author.

Aylen has created a fantastic world that is both intriguing and beautiful. From the first encounter of urchin Anavah, living in the cruel and uncompromising Presadia? I was eager to know more about our unusual heroine.

We encounter elves, dwarves and obviously dragons in this fantasy novel and I loved even though it is sad how in the 'squiggly time' (sssh not telling, you have to read the book) you see how the different species work together during one point in history, but things change dramatically in Presadia so that for Anavah? Trust is something that is hard to have in people.

A knowledge that brings about chaos to the world our heroine came to after a disaster. I was and am so curious about where Anavah came from, I think it might be our world but Aylen is careful to keep secrets about the main characters and it works perfectly to have you hooked on wanting more.

The Last Dragon Rider, an Adventure in Presadia is amazing. A must have for anyone who loves to be truly lost in the pages of a book.

Looking for something my son might enjoy when he finishes his current book series, I took a chance with this YA fantasy novel by Luke Aylen. With a story full of excitement and action, I hoped to find something intriguing, though perhaps my reader’s lens made for a difficulty in properly capturing the tale’s greatness. Anavah finds herself living in the cruel world of Presadia. There is little flexibility and she is forced to steal to survive. After receiving crystal goggles from a mysterious entity, Anavah uncovers a life-altering discovery veiled in magic. In a tale that takes Anavah through time and space, she becomes an active student in the history of dragon riders of all shapes and sizes, which will surely transform Presadia forever. Anavah has a decision to make as she accepts her new life, though no one said it would be easy! Delving into the world of elves, dwarves, and even a few dragons, Anavah leads the reader into the fantastical and proves that adventures need not have a clear path, while still being highly entertaining. An interesting piece that many middle-school children will enjoy. Luke Aylen is an author to watch, with a series that is sure to spark the interest of many. Recommended for that dragon-obsessed young reader who loves the challenge of a good chapter book.

I always feel that I do a disservice when I pick up a young adult book, particularly when I am not as enthralled as the author might like. However, such is the plight when I am trying to find some new things for Neo to read before he jumps in. I enjoyed the book for the most part, but my lack of a connection with fantasy writing may have jaded me a little. I enjoy dragons and beings of various forms as much as the next person, but the writing was likely geared for a group with whom I cannot properly connect as a reader. Luke Aylen does a great job at hashing out his characters and adds just enough detail to keep them from disappearing into the page, while spicing things up with just enough drama. The younger reader will surely lose themselves in the adventure and the layers of plot and character development. There is much left open to interpretation and intrigue, which allows the reader to wonder and seek more of this series to fill in some of the gaps. Short chapters encourage the reader to keep pushing through, which is important when there are so many other distractions taking place outside of a good book. I’ll have to hand this over to Neo to see if he likes it, though there’s nothing to make me think that he would not.

Kudos, Mr. Aylen, for a great piece of work. Just because it was not top of my list does not mean you won’t dazzle your intended audience.

With these goggles, her life changes. She finds herself with The Order of Dragons training to become a dragon rider. In this magical, dangerous world, she must step up to play her part and make a difference to society.
The Last Dragon Rider is a great adventure of risks, relationships and trust. Readers learn that life is so much richer when we take an active part rather than just being a spectator as it passes us by. This story is perfect for those who love fast-paced action with spunky characters and amazing dragons!

The third book in An Adventure in Presadia series, I must admit I didn’t know what to expect as I haven’t read the first two books. The cover illustration was fantastic and it has really captured my attention and if I see this in a book store, I would most certainly pick up and read! The Last Dragon Rider is a fantasy science fiction adventure novel about a brave but unfortunate young girl Anavah, who was forced to steal to survive the tough and cruel life in Presadia, but it all changed when Anabah encountered a mysterious person, who gave her a pair of magical crystal goggles which takes her to an adventure through time and space, an adventure she never could have imagined! Through this, she learnt all about the legendary dragon riders, and met many exciting creatures like elves, dwarves and of course, dragons along the way! An intriguing story full of suspense and excitement. It has taken me a while to get into the story, the time hopping can be a little confusing. But I enjoyed reading this very much indeed! I look forward to reading the first two books The Mirror and the Mountain and The Forgotten Palace.

If you are obsessed with dragons and you are into the history of dragons, you will love this book!

This book is part of a series, I read it without reading the first book in the series and was able to follow the storyline. I liked that the main character was a spunky girl who didn’t follow the societal rules. If you’re into dragon stories and battles of good vs. evil you will enjoy this book about a girl that is destined to become a dragon rider and help the king save his kingdom, but does she succeed?

For fans of How To Train Your Dragon, this middle grade novel is jam packed of magic that will bewitch your heart into yearning for your own magical adventure.

Fun adventure, I had not read the previous books but I don't think I was missing out on anything while reading this book. Since living on the streets since the age of 8, Anavah has learned to not trust anyone in order to survive bu this may just be detrimental to her future. Anavah is set on an adventure.

This book is very unique and to be honest, wasn't what I was expecting from the title, but that being said it was really good. It was interesting and took a very different approach to the world of dragons. This has a Sci-fi twist to it that I was expecting but really enjoyed.

This is very well done and intriguing. I don't want to give away anything but this was a fun refreshing read.
