The book is definitely simpler and shorter than I had thought. It gives very short ideas of what can be done at home for kids. Things like painting a rainbow on the window or making a fruit smoothie. Definitely geared towards younger children.
I thought that this was a fab book and it was packed with idea of fun things and ways of learning that we can do at home. My daughter has recently turned 3 so we are doing a lot more now as a family so this was great to give us some inspiration! I thought that the images were great too and this is definitely a book that I would recommend to those with a young family. It is 4 stars from me for this one, I thought it was full of great ideas for us to try out as a family - highly recommended!
I really enjoyed the colorful illustrations. It’s a bright, cheerful and engaging book. The ideas for staying at home are helpful, but I was left wanting more. I will definitely use these ideas with my children and my nephew and niece. Thank you NetGalley for the eARC.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read and review. This is a cute book listing ideas of things to do at home during the pandemic. The illustrations are simple and colourful and perfect for young kids. I wished that it helped to explain the pandemic to kids, but having a list of things to do with them while at home is also pretty cool.
LET’S STAY HOME is an engaging, bright, fun children’s book that tackles something each of us is grappling with right now: staying home and being away from the activities and people we love. This is a hard time for adults, but we at least have an intellectual understanding of why our lives have been turned upside down. Our children have suddenly been without playmates, without structure, without the classrooms and activities that occupied their time and let them expend energy. LET’S STAY HOME helps kids understand that this is something we’re all experiencing together, it won’t last forever, and that we can make the best of our time at home. There are lots of sweet ideas, like reading books with a flashlight under the covers, making smoothies, and doing online dance or sports classes. There’s decent representation in the illustrations, and all of the activities, potentially with the exception of the online courses (although many organizations are offering these for free right now!), are accessible for diverse socioeconomic groups. It was really nice to be able to read a story about what we’re going through. We love the idea of putting on a music performance for our toys and putting on a play! All of a sudden, my kids are starting to come up with other ideas for things that might be fun, so I know this book has started some good conversations within my own family. This is a time that’s traumatic for all of us, and I appreciated those feelings being validated in LET’S STAY HOME while also being reminded that we can be proactive in how we spend this time. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for this advance copy. A review is also posted on my blog at: https://thebookishfeminist.blog/f/book-review-let’s-stay-home
My kids and I really enjoyed reading this book. The book was very informative and beautifully illustrated. Due to current events in the world , kids especially my own might be feeling scared and uncertain with what’s going on. However, I felt that this book was truly helpful for my kids by suggesting fun activities to keep their mind off on what’s happening in the world while still remaining safe while social distancing. This was the first book I found truly helpful & informative for kids as well as adults.
Let's Stay Home! puts a positive spin on staying it home and presents a bunch of fun options that almost anyone can do while they're being safe from the pandemic. This is a great attitude and approach, and the illustrations are fun for young readers. Many thanks to Quarto Publishing Group – Walter Foster, Jr. and NetGalely for the advance copy.
This short book for young children is very brightly and engagingly illustrated. It begins by acknowledging that "things seem a bit strange at the moment," before acknowledging that this time will not last forever. The author then goes on to suggest the many fun things that can be done at home in the meantime. There is everything from blowing bubbles, to virtual grandparent chats, to making smoothies and more. This title will help to normalize daily life for young children and, in the process may help their adults as well! Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title in exchange for an honest review.
A great little book for children given the worlds current situation. My 5 year old daughter enjoyed us reading this together. A recommended read.
What a cute book to open talk with your kids about staying home during this challenging time. I would not suggest the dog thing though since dogs carry and pass virus from sick indivuals. I would also add coughing into your elbow or shoulder instead of hands. I loved the ideas the book gives kids on what to do whether alone or with family. I also like how the disabled was also shown in the book. I think this is a fun book to share with young people.
Let's Stay Home is a great simple book for children about staying home during this hard time. I love Sugar Snap Studios ABC books and this one is equally great. It has some great ideas on what to do while home with great illustrations that are bright and beautiful!
Great book with fun and unique ideas for things to do at home with the kids! My 5 year old was a bit more interested in this one than my 8 year old, but loved the format as well as the colors. This has been a very unusual time and she's a bit too young to fully understand, but I think seeing other kids/.families going through the same thing (and having fun) made her realize we aren't the only ones who are going through this. Thank you!
Let's stay home! Explaining lockdown to a child can be very difficult and coming up with ideas to keep kids entertained at home is tough. This book has some lovely ideas as well as helping little ones to know they are not the only ones staying home.
This is a cute and fun filled children's book that shows children how to have fun while staying at home during lockdown. I read it with my daughter and we both really enjoyed it. It has beautiful and colourful graphics and simple ideas on fun activities to keep your children busy and happy while being at home and in the garden. It would be a great book to read with your children if they are feeling anxious about lockdown. Many thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
