What do you do when your fake engagement starts to feel too real…
Aspiring clothes designer Victoria Scott spends her days working in a bar in Chelsea, and her evenings designing vintage clothes, dreaming of one day opening her own boutique. But these aspirations are under threat from the new department store opening at the end of her road. She needs a Christmas miracle, but one is not forthcoming.
Oliver Russell’s Christmas is not looking very festive right now. His family’s new London department store opening is behind schedule, and on top of that his interfering, if well meaning, mother is pressing him to introduce his girlfriend to her. A girlfriend who does not exist. He needs a diversion. Something to keep his mother from interfering while he focuses on the business.
When Oliver meets Victoria, he offers a proposition: pretend to be his girlfriend at the opening of his store and he will provide an opportunity for Victoria to showcase her designs. But what starts as a business arrangement soon becomes something more tempting, as the fake relationship starts to feel very real. But when secrets in Victoria’s past are exposed will Oliver walk away, or will they both follow their hearts and find what neither knew they were looking for…

Having read the book and loved it for the escapism it offers , the Meet Me in London audio book takes it up to another level. Read by the author,Georgia Toffolo which is a lovely touch, the audiobook is an easy and pleasant listen. Perfect to listen to while commuting to work, sat by a roaring fire with a cup curled up on the sofa or in the bath with candles all around and a glass of wine, letting it's gentle and easy pace help you to escape to, drift off and forget the world and become caught up in the story.
This is so good it will melt your heart. Funny and heartwarming with a cute, romantic storyline and a whole host of wonderful characters. Oliver is adorable and totally swoon-worthy. I loved how he didn't think twice about helping Victoria with her students and her fashion show. The emotional depth of the story comes from Victoria's friendship with her childhood friends and the consequences of a serious car accident they were all involved in. I would love to see more of her friends and read their stories next! Oliver's lovely family also add warmth to the story. They didn't hesitate in welcoming Victoria to their family and I could feel their anxiety and worry over Oliver's dad's illness. I enjoyed the narration of the book by the author. Tone and pacing were just right allowing me to get lost in the story straight away. I enjoyed every minute.
I was thrilled to have both the audiobook and ebook version of this story. The audiobook is narrated by Georgia 'Toff' Toffolo and she really brings the story to life. I could listen to her all day, everyday! I just loved this book, I was drawn in from the beginning. It's like being on a fluffy cloud, snugged up with a warm feeling running over you. It's a lovely, romantic novel. You know it's going to happen, you just don't know when! But the journey getting there is always the fun part. I really enjoyed the story. The background to both the main characters was interesting. Him, maybe predictable, rich guy with a workaholic and ill father and a mother wants him married off! But her background is so different, which is what makes this stand out! Both don't want another relationship! So to stop his mother interfering anymore, they agree to be fake fiance's! "What could possibly go wrong? Just about everything."
I have to admit, I wasn't quite sure what to expect, as I have not read any books by Georgia Toffolo before, let alone listen to them. However, I absolutely loved it! The characters of Victoria and Ollie were brilliant, both so giving in their own way. The story was strong, with me willing them to follow their hearts and do what they wanted to do with their lives, despite their own histories. A thoroughly enjoyable book, will look out for more of hers in the future.
*I have read this digitally as well, so this review is purely on the audiobook rather than the actual story* The fact the Georgia herself narrated this was a massive pull for me. I enjoy listening to authors narrate their own work and I wasn't disappointed with this one. Georgia has a sweet innocence in the way she presents herself, and this comes across in her voice narration. It suits the book absolutely and I am glad she did it herself. Her pacing is fine, the changes between characters was well done, and the enthusiasm she shows makes it all the more enjoyable. I enjoyed the story and the narration was perfect to listen to on a Sunday with a cup of tea and some cake, very cosy vibes to it. I'd recommend this 100%.
OMG I loved this book. Victoria has been through so much but despite this she is the kindest person always helping others. When she agreed to help Ollie out as his fake fiancee in exchange for him helping showcase her students work in his store things turn complicated. Her life is about to change is so many ways and thank goodness she has her 3 besties to pick up the pieces. Will Victoria get her happy ever after? I was so sad when I came to the end as I wanted more. I need a sequel.
A lot is going on in the world this autumn, so I was in dire need of a heartwarming Chritmassy read. So as soon as I read about Meet Me in London, I had to get my hands on the audiobook version for the ultimate comfort book experience. Turns out it was a huge hit for me because not only is the novel an absolute delight, but the narrator totally hit it out of the park with conveying all the romantic feels to the listener. Meet Me in London is a fake relationship rom-com between an aspiring fashion designer and a new department store owner in London. Victoria needs a miracle to survive in a demanding London market while Oliver needs to introduce a girlfriend (he does not have) to his family during the new department store's opening ceremony. What I really liked about this book in particular is the skillful character development of both main characters; I have really grown to love them and root for them. Luckily, the ending was as wonderful as I had hoped, making this novel a full packed for the ultimate romantic comfort listen. This escapist holiday listen was exactly what I needed during this difficult time, and I would highly recommend it during the chilly seasons. *Thank you to the Publisher for a free advance copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
