A fantastic story, with beautiful illustrations about a boastful, proud lion and a clever tortoise who both want to marry the princess but who will win her hand.

The Lion, The Tortoise, and The Princess Gazelle is a reimagining of the story of the tortoise and the hare which some new twists. I loved the West African backdrop for the story and the illustrations done by Rob Foote are gorgeous and fun. I love that this story could be presented alongside the tortoise and the hare and used for comparison while highlighting the beautiful differences in this story. I think this book would be a wonderful addition to an elementary classroom library.

Wonderful, quick children’s book with a cute ending that has a lesson that hard work and being clever is better than arrogance. The best part of this book though was the lovely artwork.

A clever iteration of the classic tortoise and hare tale, this beautifully illustrated book reminds children that cleverness beats overconfidence any day and that even though dancing is fun, one can't expect to have everything. Brilliant colors and glossy shapes bring the story to life in cheerful creativity. Perfect for confident readers, this amusing short story has clear lessons and a few laughs along the way.

This book reminded me of the grasshopper and the ant tale but in an African different way to tell a similar life lesson. Well executed, colourful and mindful too

The images were breathtaking, the illustrator did an amazing job! The story itself was easy to follow and I think a few lessons could be learned from reading this story, especially for small children.

Oh this is a wonderful book! I like children's books because there's always a lesson to be taught. The Lion, the Tortoise, and the Princess Gazelle teaches us very well the benefits of hard work and the consequences of arrogance and procrastination. Although it was a little cliche, I still found it very amusing.

Moral lesson: Keep your opponents distracted while you work hard. Just kidding.

Beautiful artwork and a striking, colorful cover and a clever fable. The text was slightly hard to make out on some pages (especially where the type is in white), but there may be more contrast on the printed page. Overall, a lovely read!

This book is a new retelling to me of “slow and steady wins the race”. I love all the characters in the book and how they are used in order to create a message to the reader.
Would recommend this to all younger readers.

A wonderful story with eye-opening lessons for little ones. It fun to read with hilarious scenes too. Its a whirl-wind of competition and games for the hand of a princess.

A fun spin on the classic fable, the tortoise and the hare. The illustrations are beautiful and vibrant. A vain, distractable lion takes the role of the hare in this tale. The story is predictable but teaches a good lesson to be smart and hard working.

I was instantly mesmerized opening this book. The illustration was eye-catching that made me turn the pages to see more. The African setting was already a good bargain, and the story itself, though similar to the tortoise and the hare, is another good reminder on how pride can make you fall.
