In Kat’s Highland Legends books, the world building is phenomenal. There are time travel elements expertly combined with wondrous magic, and legends making each novel uniquely appealing. Add a wonderful pace, beautiful settings, and wonderfully developed characters and you get a story that’s impossible to put down. Found in Flame and Moonlight had me wishing I could manipulate time myself so I could slow it down and savor every delicious morsel of this story while speeding it up so I could get to the happy end.

As with her previous books, Kat creates a strong female lead. As an aside, the novel passes the Bechdel test. But back to the main characters, Chelsea is dedicated, loyal and trustworthy. A warrior “lass” equal to an alpha male Highlander.

While Gawain is all of these things, he also sees her femininity and gentleness and I fell in love with the way they both saw their best qualities and embraced them. There’s also an incredibly deep and sensual attraction between them that made me sigh, swoon and fan myself.

Found in Flame and Moonlight is book #3 of the Highland Legends series by Kat Bastion. Whether or not you’re a fan of fantasy romance, Kat’s story of this magical couple is deeply satisfying. The Highland Legends will be missed. Told from both points of view, with a happy ending.

I really enjoyed this book. There was just something about it that I found particularly intriguing. I've read some time travel romances and liked them but freely admit they are not my top choice. Maybe simply because my romantic heart battles with my firmly grounded head. In spit of this somehow this story clicked with me. If I had to try to pinpoint why specifically I would say that I truly believe that it was these characters that served as the tipping point for me. Gawain and Chelsea were complex and compelling characters that shared a unwelcome but potent attraction and a almost tangible chemistry that generated lots of sizzle and steam. Which was all so perfect but for me the selling point of their romance was that they were both warriors. My heart AND my head could believe that this couple was meant to be, they could not only overcome the obstacles and battles they had to endure in this book but I was firmly left with the belief that long after I had turned the last page their love would continue to go the distance and that is what made this book so special to me.
