If only you knew then what you know now? A heartfelt journey of a family at odds with life and responsibility and the effects that has on children growing up in that environment. Very sad to read about abuse both physical and emotional and how cries for help went unnoticed. It is also a story about hope, never giving up and facing the very fear that you ran from. Each chapter of the book is followed by a letter from the older self looking back on that period of his life. The child grows up to reach his potential and I guess this book will bring hope to others who may be lost along the way to finding happiness and fulfillment. Thank you #NetGalley for the advance copy to review.

This is a very personal book which the author was brave enough to share with the world. I've always loved the idea of reflecting back on one's life and thinking about what I would say to younger me. I believe it's a wonderful way to grow and to heal, and that's exactly what Popkin has done in this short book. I find it really commendable. (For those in need of trigger warnings please be advised that this book contains references to child abuse).

What an interesting and heart filled book! I was totally engrossed in all of it! Thank you for sharing your pain and your healing. Some of your words truly hit home, some not so much. But you did give me thought and it makes me want to write my own story.

People who bare their soul and the courage to have it printed on a book are awe-inspiring. I admit, I was scared to read this book yet there was something curious about it that I just have explore. It was an emotional rollercoaster, for me, but after the surge of feeling, I felt better. It’s empowering when you meet yourself and strive to have a healthy relationship with it.
