'An utterly adorable, pitch-perfect romance'
Taylor Jenkins Read, author of Daisy Jones and The Six
When chef Charlie Goodwin gets hit on the head on the L.A. set of her reality baking show, she loses a lot more than consciousness; she also loses her ability to taste and smell - both critical to her success as show judge. Meanwhile, Charlie's identical twin, Cass, is frantically trying to hold her own life together back in their quaint mountain hometown while running the family's bustling bakery and dealing with her ex, who won't get the memo that they're over.
With only days until Christmas, a desperate Charlie asks Cass to do something they haven't done since they were kids: switch places. Looking for her own escape from reality, Cass agrees. But temporarily trading lives proves more complicated than they imagined, especially when rugged firefighter Jake Greenman and gorgeous Physician Assistant Miguel Rodriguez are thrown into the mix.
Will the twins' identity swap be a recipe for disaster, or does it have all the right ingredients for getting their lives back on track?

4.5 STARS! My main piece of feedback for The Holiday Swap is that it needs to be turned into a Hallmark movie ASAP - I couldn't stop picturing it as a film the entire time I was reading it! Charlie & Cass are identical twins who live very different lives: as the host of a popular baking show, Charlie's life in LA is full of glamor, while Cass lives in their hometown and helps run the family bakery. When an accident on set compromises Charlie's ability to do her job well, she and Cass switch places for the week leading up to Christmas. And with four men (2 rather annoying ones and 2 incredible dashing ones) thrown into the mix, things get....complicated. The Holiday Swap is a delightful festive read with drama that will pull you in and keep you turning pages until you find out how it plays out. It's slow at the start & a bit choppy, but keep going and I promise you'll enjoy this feel good, festive read!
The idea of identical twins trading places is something that has been used by various authors before, however, this rom com makes it a glorious holiday adventure with a dash of romance and sibling love for each other. Great fun and absolutely recommended.
This was such a fun festive story and as a fan of the holiday baking championship this was right up my street. This is the story of twin sisters who switch places after one has an accident and is left with no sense of smell. Of course we get a lot of chaos as a result! This is such a fab story with so many lovely descriptions of food especially cakes yum! Perfect for the festive season.
Delightfully entertaining and thoroughly addictive, this festive contemporary romance follows a pair of Identical Twins with a plan to switch places just before Christmas. When accomplished chef,Charlie Goodwin suffers a concussion while on the L.A set of her popular reality baking show, she looses more than just consciousness; she also looses the ability to taste and smell—both essential when your the show’s Judge. Meanwhile Cass (Charlie’s twin) is trying to deal with the mess of her own life, running the families’ bakery in the busiest season of the year, while also dealing with her clingy ex (who refuses to take no for an answer.) With only days before Christmas a desperate Charlie asks Cass to switch places—with a chance to take a break from small town life, Cass agrees. But temporarily trading lives isn’t as easy as they thought, especially when firefighter Jake and Physician Assistant Miguel are thrown into the mix... I absolutely loved this, with it’s Parent Trap meets The Princess Switch premise, witty quips and not one, but TWO festive romances to melt even the coldest of hearts, a must read for sure. I really loved Charlie and Cass who were well written and endearingly relatable (in fact, many of the characters were.) The pacing was great and the romance with Jake and Miguel was ~chefs kiss- Perfection! The only two characters I didn’t particularly like were Brett (Cass’ clingy ex) and Austin (Charlie’s awful co-host), both of whom I found annoying and overbearing (though still excellently written.) It’s the perfect winter romance to curl up with this Christmas, that ending was definitely worthy of a Hallmark movie. I urge everyone who loves Rom-coms and hallmark/Netflix Christmas movies to give this a read this December—it’s just soo good. And also a huge thank you to Hodder&Stoughton and NetGalley for the ARC.
This book was great fun to read. A series of adventures and misadventures regarding a set of identical twins. Some quirky characters. The inevitable twists and turns to a happy ending - or 2 happy endings in this case.
The holiday swap is a great easy read that you can't put down and is despite the title (I feel) could be ready any time of year as Christmas is only really mentioned at the very end of the novel. The two protagonists are Cass and Charlie twins, who lead very different lives. Charlie is a judge on a TV cooking program and Cass has stayed in their home town to work in the family bakery. It's the classic identical twin switch-er-roo story, after Charlie falls and suffers a concussion which leaves her with no sence of taste or smell. Meaning she will no longer be able to judge, so they are left with no other choice that to swap places in the run up till Christmas. Both twin inevitable fall in love with someone in their new lives, and comedy ensues. The story is fast paced with each chapter being told by a different twin. The information you find out about the author is incredible! Happy reading! (Cass)works in the family
Loved this book and I don’t care that it’s not even xmas. Was funny and light hearted and so easy to read. Reminded to some extent of the holiday movie. Snd I loved that also! I’d definitely recommend this to all
What a lovely book. Great characters. Cass, Charlie, Miguel, Jake and even Brett. Couldn't put it down! Simply lovely. Put a smile on my face!!
Date reviewed/posted: June 4, 2021 Publication date: September 30, 2021 When life for the entire galaxy and planet has turned on its end, you are continuing to #maskup and #lockdown to be in #COVID19 #socialisolation as the #thirdwave ( #fourthwave #fifthwave?) is upon us, superspeed readers like me can read 300+ pages/hour, so yes, I have read the book … and many more today. Plus it is hot as all heck and nothing is more appealing than sitting in front of a fan with a kindle.! I requested and received a temporary digital Advance Reader Copy of this book from #NetGalley, the publisher and the author in exchange for an honest review. From the publisher, as I do not repeat the contents or story of books in reviews, I let them do it as they do it better than I do 😸. I will recommend this book to friends, family, patrons, book clubs, and people reading books in the park as we do … I have had some of my best conversations about books down by the Thames! A feel-good, holiday-themed romantic comedy about identical twins who switch lives in the days leading up to Christmas--perfect for fans of Christina Lauren's In a Holidaze and Josie Silver's One Day in December. All they want for Christmas is a different life. When chef Charlie Goodwin gets hit on the head on the L.A. set of her reality baking show, she loses a lot more than consciousness; she also loses her ability to taste and smell--both critical to her success as a show judge. But temporarily trading lives proves more complicated than they imagined, especially when rugged firefighter Jake Greenman and gorgeous physician's assistant Miguel Rodriguez are thrown into the mix. Will the twins' identity swap is a recipe for disaster, or does it have all the right ingredients for getting their lives back on track? A competition baking show, a romance and hilarity? Yes, this is the perfect chick-lit holiday novel. The characters were lovingly crafted and the story as smooth and silky as an entremet. (okay, I watch a LOT of baking competition shows so I knew what dessert to mention...or as Jason Smith would say "smooth as Mrs. Claus' silk nightie!) I will recommend this book to friends, family, patrons, book clubs, and people I see reading books in the park, and strangers on the tube who are also reading: I find that once they figure out that I am a Canadian and not a Trump-loving MAGA-idiot they like to discuss books. (lol!) Wrap this book up in a festive tea towel (one can never have enough of those...) and give it as a holiday gift - it will be appreciated. As always, I try to find a reason to not rate with stars as I simply adore emojis (outside of their incessant use by "🙏-ed Social Influencer Millennials/#BachelorNation survivors/Tik-Tok and YouTube Millionaires/snowflakes / literally-like-overusers etc. " on Instagram and Twitter... Get a real job, people!) so let's give it 🥧🧁🍪🍩🎂
If I had to sum up this book I would say, it's "The Holiday" meets "The Parent Trap" - basically, it's a Hallmark movie waiting to happen! "The Holiday Swap" is a feel-good, holiday-themed romantic comedy about identical twins who switch lives in the 12 days leading up to Christmas... and find love in the process! Charlie and Cass are identical twins and they even have the same passion and skills for baking, but their lives are pretty different. While Cass runs the family's bakery in their small town, Charlie runs her own reality baking show in Los Angeles. But after an accident that temporarily leaves her without her sense of smell and taste. Charlie asks her twin to take her place for a while, while she takes care of their bakery at home. But temporarily trading lives proves more complicated than they imagined, especially when rugged firefighter Jake Greenman and gorgeous physician's assistant Miguel Rodriguez are thrown into the mix. I LOVED the pacing of the book, and how the twins find their true selves and also find appreciation for one another thanks to their switch. I read the book in one day, I just couldn’t put it down! All in all, this was a quick, fun, lighthearted read, and I can’t wait to read more from this author!
𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝐻𝑜𝑙𝑖𝑑𝑎𝑦 𝑆𝑤𝑎𝑝 by 𝑀𝑎𝑔𝑔𝑖𝑒 𝐾𝑛𝑜𝑥 is a very adorable rom com story perfect for Christmas🥰 Unfortunately, I read this in May as it was gifted for an advanced review😂 But still, I absolutely loved this book! Thank you @netgalley and @HodderBooks and @HodderPublicity for giving me the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. Charlie is a reality baking tv show host in LA, but one day she has a concussion on set and she loses her ability to taste. So she decides to call her identical twin sister, Cass, who remains in the small town they grew up in and runs the family-owned bakery, and they agree to swap their lives just for one week until Christmas when Charlie’s show wraps up... This book is like pure rom com. It was completely predictable and I knew where it was going. But it’s just so adorable I couldn’t stop reading! I love the characters, even side characters. It’s just such an all-around sweet story. There is a hot firefighter as love interest if this information helps😂 I know it’s too soon to talk about Christmas, but I totally recommend this if you... 👉love reading about baking, cooking, anything about food 👉want a sweet Christmas rom com read 👉enjoy all-around happy endings 👉are looking for a cosy read
This is such a good story, I can't recommend it highly enough! I loved seeing the evolution of each woman throughout the story, and the town seems so lovely it felt like reading about a place from a hallmark movie. It's a lovely read for cosying up on the sofa with a warm fire and some comfort food on a winter's night, as it's definitely a book to give you a warm fuzzy feeling
Great book. Read it very quickly ad I found it hard to put down. Characters weere entirely believable. Highly recommended.
The perfect antidote to everyday life. Charlie and Cass, identical twins, swap their lives in the run up to Christmas, with life changing consequences for both. They each take on each other's lives, work , friendships and challenges and in doing so, both find love. I loved the storyline, the lovable characters and the description of the bakery around which all their lives revolve. This was just sheer, joyful escapism,to be enjoyed at any time of the year !
