Welcome to the Beach Reads Book Club. Where love is just a page away…

I would run through fire to be part of this kind of bookclub, with books that make us smile and cry and laugh. Never have I seen my view of rom com and beach reads better expressed than in this wonderful book’ Genevieve, reader review

When Lottie Watt is unceremoniously booted out of her uptight book club for not following the rules, she decides to throw the rulebook out the window and start her own club – one where conversation, gin and cake take precedent over actually having read the book!

The Beach Reads Book Club soon finds a home for its meetings at Books by the Bay, a charming bookshop and café owned by gorgeous, brooding Matthew Steele, and as the book club picks heat up, so too does the attraction between Matt and Lottie.

If there’s anything Lottie has learned from the romances she’s been reading, it’s that the greatest loves are the ones hardest earned.

I can't believe this is the first Kathryn Freeman book I've read!
This was a brilliant book with fabulous characters and a great storyline, I especially loved the fact that the book club read real books, some I've read and some to look out for in the future, almost like being recommended them by a friend.
I would like to follow these characters more and I do hope that there will be another book to follow.
Thank you NetGalley.

This is an absolutely delightful book. You will be laughing out loud so many times at the antics of these quirky characters. I adored this book and all of the characters. While Lottie and Matt are the main characters the rest are definitely needed to not only support the other two but to add their own storyline to the book.

This may be a romance novel about a book club that reads romance novels but it is a hundred other things also. It shows how you can support your friends, make knew friends, help people open up and how just getting together can make for a hundred laughs and giggles.

I do wanted to belong to this book club snd to meet up with them. These are the people I need in my life right now. I thank the author for creating such a fantastic story that I felt like they were all my friends. A beautiful story and one you should all read this summer whether you are on the beach or curled up in bed. .

Lottie starts a new book club, reading the type of books she wants to reads. She talks some friends in to joining and local book shop owner Matt in to letting them hold the meetings in his shop.

Matt and Lottie are attracted to each other, but opposites in terms of personalities. When Lottie's ex reappears, will she give him another chance or choose Matt?

Great read

I want to join Lottie's book club where gin and cake are the order of the day. Matthew not only provides a location for them but he is easy on the eye too. An enjoyable easy read for all chicklit fans.

The Beach Reads Book Club is a delight. Not liking the militant nature of the book club they currently attend, a small group forms their own club so they can focus on the romance novels they love. Uptight fairly new bookstore owner Matt agrees to let the group use the cafe section of the store and the fun begins. The diverse characters and their antics and observations are as funny as profound, and Matt soon learns not to be written off. Nothing is too sacred to be discussed...except perhaps, on occasion, the chosen book. This is a story of friendship, support, loving, helping and clean romance. It’s a keeper. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. Most highly recommend.

I started this book with high hopes and, oh my god, was I not disappointed. The author gave us two wonderful protagonists, Lottie and Matt, with all the heart and flaws we may need to actually feel for them. We get to see them through each other eyes and it changes everything.

But really, my favorite part of this book is all the people around them, from family members to Beach Reads Book Club members. I would run through fire to be part of this kind of bookclub, with books that make us smile and cry and laugh. Never have I seen my view of rom com and beach reads better expressed than in this wonderful book.

This is one book club I would walk over hot coals to join. It's not just about the books, it's the ladies in the group, the cake, the raunchy books they pick, the gin and of course the gorgeous book shop owner, add in a weeing dog and a baby, then this has got to be the book club to be a part of. Matthew Steele takes ownership of a cafe/bookshop with his dad & sister in the hope they can build a new life together. Wanting to become part of the community, he allows a book club to run from the shop once a month, not quite realising just what he would be taking on! Lottie is the lady responsible for starting up the club and also for restarting Matt's heart, but with an old flame turning up, what will the future be for them all? Highly recommend reading this book.

Genre: Romance | Romantic Comedy

Release Date: Expected 30th June 2021

Publisher: One More Chapter | Harper Collins

Content Warning: Some sexual imagery, mentions of death, mentions of cheating.

Lottie Watt loves book club - until she has to make a very sudden and not graceful exit for not following the rules. So now she wants to bring the fun back to book club and decides to start her own - where the fun, the cake and the laughter is far more important than rules, where you can read 'books we'd want to take on holiday, and books that take us on holiday.'

And so, The Beach Reads Book Club is born and have their first meeting at Books By The Bay, a very cute bookshop cafe that was reluctantly offered by Matthew Steele, the gorgeous but slightly prickly owner and his family. As far as first meetings go, it's one for the history books.

But as the pages start to turn, Lottie starts to learn that maybe Matt isn't so scary after all, maybe he's just got another story that's waiting for the right person to read it.

Kathryn Freeman always has a way of bringing strong, beautiful women and mouth watering romance together in a winning combination that's always impossible to put down. Right from the beginning, I was sucked in and needed to know more about not just Lottie and Matt, but the whole eclectic cast of the Beach Reads Book Club. From Audrey, a lonely retiree with a skill to always find the best sex scenes, to Sam who's been desperate for adult conversation since they had a baby, to Gira who is convinced her marriage is falling apart around her - each character was so full of life and love that as each chapter went by they felt more like old friends.

Without even knowing it, Lottie was forming a community- not just a club. It was a place all of our characters came together and learned to be better friends, better people, and just have fun.

And while the friendships of this story were absolutely wonderful - of course there's the prospect of romance in the air. But Lottie knows despite how many epic romances she's read, nothing is ever simple when it comes to matters of the heart - there's always baggage, unresolved exes, or a dog who doesn't like you very much getting in the way.

"If you think that's what romance books are all about, you've clearly never read one. They're about hope, about joy. About handling adversity and coming through the other side stronger. Yes, they're also about love, the most powerful emotion you'll ever experience."

I so badly want to be a part of this club, and finding out what they were reading about every month was an absolute delight - I was so happy when they discussed books I'd already read (Love Square was brilliant) and I'll definitely be checking out the rest of their reading list now too. As I've said before, I'm a sucker for books about books, and this one was the gin and the tonic.

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Thank you to Kathryn Freeman and One More Chapter for inviting me to read this ARC in return for an honest review.

If only I could find a book club like that, I might actually join it. Especially if it came with a brooding hunk of a man. This book is a real tonic, with lots of added gin. The author was new to me so I'm now envisaging a summer spent catching up on her back catalogue. All I need is some sun.

A lovely story of recovery and love, Lottie a fiercely independent electrician, getting over a broken heart. After attending a regimental book club decides to start her own light hearted club. Matt new owner of the book store, moved from London after the death of his mother and sad divorce. Bringing his reluctant sister and father to help him and bring the family together. Matt agrees to let Lottie use his book store as the venue of her book club but doesn't bargain on falling in love wit noh her. A really well written book that keeps you interested right to the end..totally recommend

I was lucky to receive an advance copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review and opinion. I found this book absolutely delightful and such a fun summer read. I found myself actually laughing out loud so many times at the antics of these nutty characters. I adored this book!

This was my first book by this author and won't be the last as such an easy read and of course plenty about books which will cheer any good reader up. Certainly a laugh out loud book and plenty about romance friendship and having laughs while also heartache to. The characters are all brillant and all have their own issues but can they sort them out.
Lottie belonged to a book club but is kicked out as she can't follow the rules and she turns up with out reading the chosen book as they aren't books she likes. She decides to start her own book club up and has her meetings at the local book shop and cafe owned by Matthew and as they meet their love for each other increases to and can they really be happy or not. They all enjoy talking about the books they read and enjoy talking about them and as their friendships get closer so do Lottie and Matthew.
A perfect rom com book and worth more than the five stars.

This was delightful, just utterly delightful and lived up to its title; I brought this along for my camping trip and really had to drag myself away from the book. The main characters are well written, the side characters are such fun, and all the issues are settled realistically. This had me smiling the whole way!

Lottie decides to set up her own book club when she doesn't agree with the books being read in her previous club. She ends up having the club in Matthew's book shop even though he wasn't happy. Great book loved it.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

Lottie, is booted out, from a book club, because she didn’t follow the rules. So, as she loved being part of one, she decides that she’s going to start her own, one without rules but plenty of conversations, cake and gin. Probably more of this than actual book discussions.

So, Lottie, finds a place to have the meetings, a bookshop/coffee shop.

The owner, Matthew, has his own issues of why he’s there running it with his family. As do members of the club.

Soon it’s not just the book club that’s heating up.

Some of the books up for discussion are ones by favourite authors.

I loved this!! I felt the difference in reading from each characters perspective and the setting really cemented the world for me. The romance and book talk was so fun to read!

This book was MAGNIFICENT. It gave me alllllll the feels and I don’t even know where to start with this review because it was just so, so good.

Matt Steele leaves his life and his job in London behind after tragedy struck. He moves to this quaint, little seaside town to run a book-shop and mend fences with his father and his sister, start anew. Lottie Watt loves reading, but the book club she’s a member of feels more like school than fun. She decides to start her own book club: a community where light, easy reads are involved and where drinking gin and eating cake sometimes takes precedence over discussing the books. She goes to ask the handsome, uptight, new book-shop owner if she can hold the “Beach Reads Book Club” meetings there, and thus the romance starts.

Matt and Lottie couldn’t be more different: Lottie is light to Matt’s dark, laughter to his serious, open to his closed, warm to his cold. But that’s exactly why they belong together. Yet, despite their undeniable, mutual attraction, they both have some issues to work through first. I loved that we get to read both of their POVs, and I really wanted to give Matt a hug for most of the book. The way is so far gone about Lottie, the care he has for her, the way he pushes himself to be more open, to give her all that she needs… it melt me! Both MCs are layered, complex, and their romance feels so real and authentic, a by-the-book slow-burn, with lovely increasing heat – it’s all I could want in a love story, and more.

But this book is more than just the romance between Lottie and Matt: it’s a story about opening up and letting people in, about taking a chance, and finding friendship and support where you didn’t expect it. The whole supporting cast is GLORIOUS, the dialogues are bubbly, and there’s just the right mix of humor and seriousness. Also, did I mention that Lottie’s book club picks are ROMANCES? And that we get to see them discussing them? I genuinely squealed when I saw that April’s pick was “Beautiful Player” by Christina Lauren!

In conclusion, this book was absolutely brilliant! It made me happy and it swept me off my feet – I can see it staying with me for a long time. I don’t know if I could do it justice with my review, but if I did even a bit, I definitely recommend picking it up!

The Beach Reads Book Club is a charming story that follows bookstore owner Matthew Steele and book club organizer Lottie Watt. When Lottie is thrown out of a stuffy book club, she decides to create her own with fun books and like-minded readers. Lottie asks the owner of a local bookstore if she can hold the meetings there, and her life is irrevocably changed. Matthew, the handsome and brooding bookstore owner, is a distraction Lottie didn’t anticipate, and as her book club takes off, so do her feelings for Matt. However, Matt sends mixed signals, and Lottie isn’t ready for a long-term commitment. Will Lottie and Matt find their happily-ever-after?

Lottie has such a positive impact on those she meets. Selfless, helpful, and observant, Lottie understands people and intrinsically knows what they need. She is funny and supportive and vibrant, and people are drawn to her. From the book club members to Matt and his family, Lottie changes people’s lives for the better and, ever humble, doesn’t even realize she is doing it. This is especially true with Matt.

At the start of the story, Matt is so withdrawn and emotionally closed off. Wounds and regrets from the past define his present. However, the more time he spends with Lottie, the more he sees what he really wants in life. He grows so much throughout the story, and his relationships and sense of self are improved because of it. Matt’s such a fantastic character and the perfect match for Lottie.

The love story between Lottie and Matt is the perfect balance of sweet and steamy. Two people who are still healing from past relationships, neither Lottie nor Matt are ready for a serious relationship, but they find it difficult to resist their growing feelings. I like how they learn from each other and step out of their comfort zones as they get to know each other. These opposites have a wonderful romance, and their chemistry is off the charts, much to the delight of the book club.

The members of the Beach Reads Book Club are fantastic! This group of women has a shared love of beach reads, and I can totally relate. I love a swoon-worthy romance and would love to join a book club like this. They are so fun and funny, and they become so much more than a book club. There is a found family dynamic in the club, and in extension the bookstore, that is heart-warming and hysterical.

I also love the chapter titles, which are the titles of the books the club plans to read. The titles often reflect what is happening in the story and are also a great way to introduce the readers to other beach reads as well as the main events and feelings of the chapter. This is a great book for readers who like heartwarming and fun contemporary romance or rom-coms with great messages, well-developed and relatable characters, and a fantastic love story. It’s a charming summer read with a little bit of steam and a lot of fun!

FINALLY!! A book that is fun, believable and perfect for the summer! I loved Lottie as a character and her wanting to make her own book club that is fun and inclusive. I actually did take notes on the different books mentioned in her book club so I can read them in the future. I wish this kind of book club was close to me, I would definitely join and be a member! And do not even get me started on Matthew, oh my gahh, the chemistry between Lottie and Matthew!!! Did she finally meet her man?

So much to recommend and enjoy with this book! Why have I not heard of Kathryn Frreeman until now? Hope her next book is as good as this one. A much needed summer beach read!

What a great read this is. I loved the characters, the laugh out loud moments and the underlying messages of loyalty and friendship

Lottie is a bubbly character who decides to start her own book club and asks Matt, the new owner of the local bookshop, if she can hold her meeting there. Matt has moved to the area with his sister and father after his mother’s death. He is the total opposite to Lottie, very reserved, but they find themselves drawn together.

I loved the ladies of the book club and enjoyed sharing their stories. The dog Lottie adopted also made me laugh at his antics. All in all a book well worth reading

I loved, loved, loved The Beach Reads Book Club by Kathryn Freeman. It was such a light, fun read. In this book, we meet Lottie, a fun, chatty extrovert and Matt, a closed off, brooding introvert. After getting kicked out of her current book club for not reading the heavy literature picks, she and two others from that group form a book club where they read lighter books. The book club is going to meet at Matt’s bookstore on the beach. I loved all the characters in this book (except for Henry, Lottie’s ex.). I am Team Matt all the way. Both Lottie and Matt were such good people that I was really sucked into the story and hated having to put the book down to sleep or adult, This is my first read by Kathryn Freeman and it will not be my last! Thank you to Netgalley and Harper Collins UK, One More Chapter for the ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.

I think this was my favourite Kathryn Freeman book so far! There were so many incredible characters, and Lottie was brilliant! I love that she just takes everyone under her wing and is so caring! Audrey was my favourite book club member, she was just hilarious!

I loved that the majority of the books chosen for the book club were ones that I had read, and those I hadn't are now on the to read list!

Such an enjoyable read!

When Lottie set up The Beach Read Book Club, she wasn't prepared for the owner of the local bookshop, Matt, to make such a lasting impression on her. This is a light-hearted, feel good romantic read that is perfect for a summer read in the sun.

Filled with delightful characters that readers can not help but fall in love with, a storyline that is engaging and flows well, offering humour and drama. I particularly adored all the book club discussions about books I have read, making this very relatable and enjoyable.

There is nothing I can fault about this book, I found myself reading this with a smile. I recommend this to all romance fiction readers, all bookworms, those who are members of book clubs, and those who aren't.

This is an entertaining, light-hearted story about Lottie and Matt, and their developing romance. Lottie runs her new Beach Reads Book Club from Matt’s café. While she is a bubbly, easy going, warm character, Matt seems withdrawn and abrupt, with a totally different outlook to her.

There are lots of amusing escapades to read, often involving her irascible dog Chewie. Whatta dog! I particularly liked the warm, welcoming atmosphere of the book, and sisterhood between the group of quirky, fascinating women who are members of the book club. It was interesting that the books chosen to be read were real books, some of which I’ve read myself. I also liked it that Lottie is an electrician, usually considered a male job.

Although this is a positive upbeat story, it also explores estrangement within families. Matt feels that he let his family down when they most needed him, and blames himself for the failure of his first marriage. The chemistry between Lottie and Matt sizzles, but both are unsure whether this is enough for a lasting relationship.

All resulting in an entertaining story, with a great plot and believable characters. Recommended!

Having just read Mr Right Across the Street by Kathryn and loving it (as well as forgetting what a great writer she is having read her previous books) I was looking forward to reading another book by her and I wasn't disappointed.
Matt has moved with his Dad and Sister for a fresh start running a book shop following the death of his Mum. Lottie is an electrician who wants to start her own book club. When she meets Matt to return a book there is an attraction but Matt has been hurt in his previous relationship when his Wife had an affair because of the long working hours Matt was doing.
Lottie starts to run her bookclub at the bookshop so has much more contact with Matt and the chemistry is clear.
There are some great supporting characters such as Audrey and Gira and of course Chewie the dog and the side stories were interesting. It was lovely that this books wasn’t just about romance but about friendships, moving on following the death of a loved one and how meeting the one can bring out the best and help you to trust again.
I enjoyed the way that other books were mentioned, some that I have read, and others I will be looking at reading as they sounded interesting!
A feelgood romance which I read in a couple of days as it did keep me wanting to read more.
Thank you to Net Galley, One More chapter (a division of Harper Collins) and Kathryn Freeman for the opportunity to read and review this book in exchange for an honest review, which is completely my own.

An unbelievably cute, fun, and steamy book! Fed up with her current stuffy book club, Lottie decides to build out her own with the help of two friends. Who said book clubs have to be high literature? Certainly not them! Beach Reads Book Club seems a bit more like smut reads book club, but no one is complaining there. I absolutely adored the dynamic between the women and how important it is to have friends you can count on. The romance(s) felt a bit secondary for me (though I don't think they're necessarily meant to be) because I loved the friendships so much. I hope to see more from this group in the future.

4.5 stars.

The Beach Reads Book Club gave me some nostalgic vibes. Similar to Lottie, Queen J and I used to go to a more serious book club. We discovered we both shared a love for romance and not long after we abandoned the book club and formed our own club of two. Needless to say, reading this gave me some happy feels.

Lottie and Matt were wonderfully awkward together. Matt and his sister and father are new to town and he’s the new owner of the book store. Matt is just trying to figure out a new normal after his divorce and the passing of his mother and he’s adorably and awkwardly failing to adjust. Lottie is this burst of light that takes over and just creates this glow of happiness around everyone, and her light starts to shine on Matt and his family.

Their connection was a slow burn but I thought their chemistry was cute. It wasn’t super steamy or hot, but I still found it satisfying and sweet.

I loved the rest of the book club members and it made me want to revisit a book club of my own. Kathryn Freeman has become a must read for me and I look forward to more.

How refreshing to read a book featuring a book club, which is a book club of books I have actually read, well at least some of them, or others by the authors at least. Was so nice to see a bunch of book references I could actually relate to!

And Lottie's Beach Reads Book Club is just the sort of book club I would love to join, some book chat about nice easy to read and enjoyable books, without too much of hunting for hidden meanings, plus plenty of cake and booze. Whereas the first club Lottie was part of, was the complete opposite and I really didn't enjoy the literary snobbish nature of it.

Which leads me to think that this book itself has an important message about not judging a book by its cover, not judging those who read beach reads, or lighter fiction, and that there is a book for every reader, and they are all worthy of being loved and discussed. Or something along those lines but phrases far more eloquently than I seem able to.

I loved Lottie generally and all the people that came to her club, and over the course of the book she seems to enrich many people's lives. And Matthew the sexy bookshop owner is great. He surprises himself at time with his actions but you can tell there is more to him than you may first think.

Honestly I just loved every second of this book and just wish I had been on holiday to have had some uninterrupted time to read it as fast as I would have liked to. It's fabulous and another winner from the talented Kathryn Freeman.

Thank you to One More Chapter and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily,

This book should should come with a warning that nothing else will get done while reading this and a box of Man-size tissues. I don’t think I’ve ever cried so much over a book. In a good way. I loved the way the characters developed and how Matt transformed. But then Lottie learns things while dispensing help in her own inimitable way. I want to visit this bookshop. I want to drink gin with Audrey, I’ll bring my own bottle! I want to read and discuss books with all of them. I didn’t want it to end but also wanted it to so I could see how it turned out. As nd yet more tears. I loved this book

The Beach Reads Book Club is such a fun, light read! It is the perfect romance for this summer/beach reading! I loved the cast of characters and would love to be in this book club. I also enjoyed the references to other romance novels (some of which I've read, but some I've added to my list, haha). Would definitely recommend if this is your genre of choice!

Oh my goodness, another home run of a fabulous romance novel! If you love books, book stores, and romances, then read this book! What a fun read it was! Our lovely protagonist sets up a sexy romance reading book club and finds herself in a love triangle. Who will she choose and why? You must read the book to find out! Anyways, I really enjoyed this book and would certainly make Freeman a future auto-buy author for sure!

While I love nothing more than a literary work of art, I completely agree with Lottie in the importance of losing oneself in a book that doesn't take itself too seriously. The Beach Read Book Club is the perfect read for someone who wants friendship, romance and, well, the perfect beach read.

I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.

Good. Even though at times the two main characters were exhausting to read about as I know it is more true to life that they face problems until they eventually get together but it just felt like there were too many problems. Also the sex scenes weren't well written so it just felt so awkward to read. The only thing that saved this book for me was the beautiful friendships that were made between the other characters and the book recommendations interspersed in the story.

Lottie Watt has always enjoyed reading, and that is what prompts her to join the book club in the local library. However, Eve - the woman who runs the club, has managed to strip all the fun out of it by refusing to allow anyone to drift away from her scripted questions. Lottie has had more than enough of Eve and her condescending ways, so she decides to start up her own book blub - aptly named The Beach Reads Book Club.

The new club meets in the local bookshop/cafe - Books on the Bay, which has recently been taken over by the dark and mysterious Matt Steele. Lottie is unsure what to make of this man to start with, as he avoids conversation and walks around the shop suited and booted, but the attraction between them is instant. Lottie is still getting over the departure of her ex Henry, and Matt has been through a rather messy divorce himself, so both of them are looking for anything but a serious relationship.

As the book club continues meeting in the bookshop, with the numbers growing slowly but surely, Lottie and Matt are thrown together time and time again, and before long the sparks between them become too much to ignore. But when Lottie's ex Henry walks back in to her life wanting her back, Lottie is unsure of which way to turn, and where her heart truly lies.

Full of humour, love and a strong sense of friendship, this book was an absolute dream to read!. I loved the connection all of the women in the book club shared with one another and how their loyalty to one another went far beyond the walls of the bookshop. They became good friends and confidents in one another, and helped each other through some difficult times along the way. Matt Steele is utterly swoon worthy! i loved his dark, mysterious vibe and as the story progressed and we got to know him better, he soon captured my heart too.

A wonderful book that I would highly recommend to others!

Fab, feel good read. The Beach Club book club is my kind of club! A lovely story of a diverse group of likeable characters, humour, friendship and love - must read for the summer!

I saw this title and I knew it would be perfect! In fact, it was even better than I expected!

I love the idea of the book club. Not not the one when you analyze all stylish aspects, historical background and read only Pulitzer prized positions. I like this one when you can read and talk about books that you really enjoyed and have fun with. To be honest, I definitely more likely a "hot romance" team.

Of course, it is not only about books. It is about friendship and relations. How to find someone to spend free time with, how to get a new goal in life, or just sit and talk. With gin. Or tonic. Rather separately than mixed together.

A small town by the seashore, old bookstore, and few women who want to do something more than sitting alone at home - this book is so inspiring for all of us. To find your own voice, own interest, to don't be ashamed of what you like to do, read.

So heart-warming, with a love story that makes my heart melted. Perfect for summer days, beach trips, waiting in the airports, or just a lazy morning with the coffee before the heat.

Ps. If you read carefully, you would find some nice books recommendation here! I read all of these and you really need these for summer. Of course, after "The Beach Read Books Club"

Books about books are one of my favorite tropes. Also uptight guy falling for free spirit? What else could you ask for? The story was perfect and all of the supporting characters were as well developed as the two main characters. The even discussed some books that will be added to my TBR list!

I really enjoyed this book. Since it’s written from the point of view of both Lottie and Matt, I was really routing for them and hoping they would stay together. I liked the plot, it wasn’t clear cut what was going to happen which makes you want to keep reading to find out the outcome. I thought the characters were well rounded and believable. The book was well written and I’ll definitely be looking out for more from Kathryn.. I recommend this book. Thank you #netgalley

I LOVED THIS FREAKING BOOK!!! OH MY GOD! I was so excited to get approved for it and even more excited to find out that it was such a quick, amazing read! I love beach reads and this book was the epitome of just THAT! I would absolutely love to be a part of this book club... gin, deserts, and great company?! COUNT ME IN!!

What is better than a mysterious, sexy bookstore owner who can show you his vulnerable side and gives you the warm fuzzies that every woman desires!? Ugh... SWOON. Lottie and Matt are such a fun mix and their chemistry is to die for!

I loved the characters, loved the story line, and had such a great time reading it.

Thank you to netgalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

Upon exiting the snooze fest of a book club that she is a member of, Lottie decides to start her own. Along with a broody and mysterious bookshop owner, past love and new budding friendships, will Lottie find her place in her seaside town?

Pure Perfection!

This book was amazing and I could not get enough of it.

Props to Kathryn for fleshing out her characters so well in this story. The character development in this story was done brilliantly. I enjoyed reading the growth that the characters went through to reach a place of contentment and a place where they belong and feel comfortable in their own skin.

The emotional turmoil that the characters experienced was written so well that I as the reader felt the characters' anguish, shame, guilt, pain, self-doubt, hope and love to the point where I would get an ache in my chest whilst reading.

Another thing Kathryn did brilliantly was the friendship group in this story. I loved the close ties that these characters developed with each other and how they progressed from mere acquaintances, to friends to people who support each other through thick and thin.

My favourite book by this author to date so please pick it up!

A Very Readable Romcom…
A sweet Summer read populated with delightful characters and a compelling, feel good storyline laced with plenty of gentle humour. Every reader will, undoubtedly, yearn to be a part of this particular book club. A very readable romcom.

What a book it has you laughing and crying in the same sentence. Lottie joined a book club but found it boring so decided to run her own with a little help and persuasion. However after asking the local stuffed shirt of the bookshop/ coffee shop owner if they could use his premises free of course because she doesn’t know if anyone will attend, he reluctantly agrees. The book club starts but this isn’t only about books, it’s about making friends, gossip especially about sex, gin and reading books you are going to enjoy. The thing with Lottie is that she has a heart of gold, helps others out all the time. But has no confidence in herself. But with the help of the Book shop, cafe and book club she begins to realise that she can do, what she thought she couldn’t as well as meet her true love. Please can there be a follow up. As I think we all need to know how Jim gets on and Audrey too

Now, just the name of this book drew me to request it, and I was not disappointed at all with the story. I have been struggling to read, recently, and this book pulled me out of the rut I had found myself in!
So we have Lottie, the blonde sparky, never an intellectual person, and definitely not known for her love of words.
She's been attending a book club, but really isn't feeling it, what with all the literary greats they are meant to be reading, when all she really wants is a bit of romance, happy endings, and a little steaminess thrown in.
An idea sparks (see what I did there?!) with the help of some other members of said book club to start their own, a more inclusive one, with less formal rules, and here's how she finds herself the head of the Beach Reads Book Club, with a slowly growing number of members, who do like a book with a bit of a romp in them, but more than anything, they cherish the time they spend together, and the friendships that evolve.
Oh, and I can't forget the romance within this book, either, can I? Matthew, the rather serious new book shop owner is eye candy for more than one of the members, but, slowly, as he sheds layers of clothing and his own mystique, he ends up being a perfect candidate for our Lottie.
Though, nothing is ever that simple. There is family drama, exes, and a gorgeous, protective dog, involved.
Oh, and who could forget the oldest member of the club, Audrey, who has a potty mouth disguising a heart of gold.
Such a lovely book, I highly recommend it!
Many thanks to NetGalley and One More Chapter for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

If you read one book this summer, let this be it!! A fun perfect beach read that had me finishing this book in a day. I found myself mixed with two things I love book clubs and a good romance! Lottie and Matt are great protagonists and I found myself rooting for them. Such a great story, I can’t wait to share this book with friends. Thank you netgalley and publisher for the advanced read. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Thanks to NetGalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of this book in return for an honest review.

The minute I saw the cover and title of this book, I knew I had to read it.
I was not disappointed.

Matt and his family have moved to a small seaside town from London, where Mark was a City trader. He, hos father and his sister Amy are all grieving the loss of their mother and wife nearly a year earlier. So Mark decides to buy a bookshop.

Lottie is a self employed young lady in a profession not exactly overrun by women, especially good looking, blonde, slightly zany young women. Lottos loves reading, but has found the book club she has joined is not exactly for her. It is too..highbrow, stuffy and not exactly friendly either. So Lottie decides to start her own book club and so the Beach Read Book Club is born.

This book made me smile, laugh, and was such an enjoyable read. The diverse characters, with all their foibles, the well written sex scenes and the great suggestions of books to read, make it one of THE beach reads for whenever we actually make it to a sunny sandy beach again.

I thoroughly recommend this book to all lovers of “beach reads”.
