Audiobook review, so not relevant to the written book unless a audio link included.
Very relaxing listen, so relaxing in fact I fell asleep at the meditation part, had to listen again. Interesting format with some spoken wise words followed by music, birds song, water flowing it was very calming. The first part is an overview about Thich Nhat Hanh a Vietnamese master of mindfulness. The beliefs are around family, friends, wellbeing & health and not as structured as the Dali Lama teachings. It does what it says in the title, enjoyed it immensley. Thank you #NetGalley for the audiobook.
What a beautiful concept and an amazing audiobook. It was truly glorious experience listening to this and so so enjoyable, enlightening and soul touching. It truly is a practice that is good for the body, soul, mind and spirit and I can’t tell you how much I loved and appreciated taking the time to slow down and really be present with this meditation and soundscape.
Thich Nhat Hahn has lived an immense and truly awe inspiring life, so it was great in part one of this book to learn more about him and his experiences. The chapter also goes into the making of the documentary shedding some light of the monastic order and practice of mindfulness.
The whole audiobook enthused calm and peace and the overall listening experiences was unparalleled. Leading into part two, with a few spectacular readings by Benedict Cumberbatch from snippets of Thich Nhat Hahn’s journal and selected quotes from him, the backdrop of a soundscape is enough to really immerse you into this whole audiobook experience.
Presence and calm was infused into the soundscape and I can’t emphasise how lovely it was. This is the sort of thing that so many people need and they don’t realise they need it. The art of mindfulness is truly a beautiful thing and the meditation practice as well as soundscape in part three was a joy.
I really couldn’t recommend this enough.
This was a very interesting book. I love the different sections. As I listened to it as an audio book, I could flip from section to section and keep redoing the sound scape relaxation. The back story was gripping, I loved learning about this special, inspirational man. I also found the relaxation sections amazing. The bells, chants, birds and narration were so mind blowingly relaxing. I really liked the fact that they said it was ok to fall asleep if you needed too (I did, which was why I did part 3 a few times).
Amazing book. Anyone who likes to meditate should listen to this and anyone who hasn’t tried it before, should give this a go as it is so easy to use.
I listened to the audiobook version of Walk With Me In Sound and really enjoyed it. The book is split into three sections, an introduction, a soundscape introduction and the soundscape. The introduction is done by Marc J. Francis and tells about how the film and book came about and how he met Thich Nhat Hanh and who he is. He then introduces the soundscape. The soundscape itself has water sounds, chanting, and spoken word read by Hanh himself and by Benedict Cumberbatch. The introduction is very interesting and let’s you know more about the person who is going to be guiding you on your “journey”. The soundscape itself is very relaxing and the spoken word is great to hear.

This audiobook has 3 parts to it.
Part 1- Encounters with Thich Nhat Hanh - 38 mins
Part 2 - The Soundscape Introduction - 6 mins
Part 3 - The Soundscape - 55mins
I loved the was you can listen to this audiobook in 3 parts or just jump to the Soundscape each time after the first listen.
Its aim is to change your way of thinking and seeing things and connect with the deepest part of yourself. I found it extremely relaxing and calming and used headphones to achieve this immersive experience at bedtime. Listening to this has made me now want to watch this award winning film to find out more.
With thanks to Netgalley and Penguin Random House UK Audio for my chance to listen and review.
Part one is the background, the narrator says you can skip this part but I listened with interest.
The author gave an account of his experience and the history of Thich Nanh Hanh. I found this really fascinating and profoundly comforting. I knew I would get a lot out of this audiobook withe the way he openly spoke. He explains why he wanted to make the film and how he made it and the reasoning behind Buddhism. This is one of those books you need to read again, just to make sure you have taken it all in.
Part two gets you ready to meditate. What to expect and how best to receive it. Part three is the meditation.
I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook and the experience will stay with me. I enjoyed the meditation as much as the history. I've experienced meditation before but this was so beautiful to listen to and I felt a sense of calm from the first gong. I found the spoken words a great comfort. The mix of sounds and music and song were just beautiful.
I have always meant to watch Walk With Me but never got around to it, so when I saw this audiobook, I jumped at the chance to listen and review it. It is a very short book with 3 chapters - the first provides a background of interaction of Marc J. Francis with Thich Nhat Hanh, the second an introduction to the soundscape and the third is the actual Soundscape.
It is a short audiobook, but more profound because of that. I enjoyed listening to the first chapter on how Marc J. Francis came to make Walk With Me, his journey of self discovery and what we could all learn from Thich Nyat Hanh. It brought home to me how busy and chaotic our lives have become, and by taking a step back to re-evaluate and bring some perspective can only be a good thing. It is even more important during the terrible pandemic we are all living though.
The Soundscape, featuring Thich Nhat Hanh was my favourite part of this book. I meditated along with it and by the end of it, came out feeling calmer and more energised than before. I love the Buddhist chants, which are very soothing and I felt transported to a quieter and simpler world listening to them. The Soundscape is something that I have gone back to multiple times now, and will do so again in the future.
I have never before experienced a book quite like this one.
The audiobook is split into three parts to help the listener get the most from it.
Part one provides background, courtesy of Marc J Francis, the co-director of the documentary Walk With Me about the monastery of Zen Buddhist master Thich Nhat Hanh. Part two is a brief introduction to the soundscape that comprises Part three.
Francis sets the tone beautifully by recalling his experience of first encountering the monastery and the master, who seemed to see deeply into Francis and speak directly to him even when addressing a group. Those who listen to this audiobook may receive similar gifts as they hear the words and thoughts of Thich Nhat Hanh, as spoken by him and Benedict Cumberbatch.
Part three is a haven of peace that the listener can return to any time– A soundscape and journey always available.
It opens with a resonant bell, then surrounds the listener with songs of many kinds – composed and natural – helping ground and enrich Thich Nhat Hanh’s words and wisdom.
Thank you to the authors and publishers for granting me access via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
I love how this audiobook explains the premise of each sections and encourages you to engage with each section as you see fit.
On my first listen I chose to listen from start to finish. I loved the beginning explanation about how the recording came about and the life events that lead to the author exploring the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh.
Onto the soundscape, it is heavenly. Calming and perfect to listen to as well as a background to your own meditation practice. I love how there are moments of silence within the recording. I can see myself coming back to this time and time again.

A beautiful listening experience.
ThichNhat Hahn is a true inspiration. Part one was interesting and I enjoyed learning more about him and his journey and his practice.
Part two was a treat listening to the dreamy tones of #BenedictCumberbatch reading excerpts from Thich Nhat Hahn’s journal.
Part 3 is the soundscape.
This is worth buying for the soundscape to support in mindfulness and meditation.
Many thanks to #Netgalley for gifting me an #arc in exchange for an honest review.

I loved the format of this, with history and background info in the first section, then an introduction followed by the soundscape meditation itself. The meditation is incredibly relaxing but honestly, I found the whole book very peaceful to listen to. It’s not the kind of thing I usually go for, but I’m so glad I gave it a try. It’s perfect if you just need to take a step back from a busy lifestyle and have a little time to relax and reflect. Also, the narration is excellent!
