About the author

Dr John Gayner trained as a doctor at St Thomas’ Hospital, London. He taught John and other trainee doctors by telling memorable stories that would help the students recall important medical facts. A Doctor for All Seasons is an account of the medical career of Dr. John Gayner who served as a medical advisor on film sets and TV. I found his memoir fascinating and really interesting as the doctor flew around the world treating very famous people. What a life! The stories he could tell!

Not my usual genre of book but I thoroughly enjoyed it! A well written book that would be excellent for a Book Club, therefore I’ve suggested it to mine.

After Dr John Gaynor qualified as a GP he worked for film insurers, production companies and actors. Some of his encounters, humorous and otherwise are included in this book.
I’m not a follower of the stars so a lot of the names didn’t mean anything to me but I still enjoyed the anecdotes and learning how accidents can happen on set. Reading about his early days in medicine was more my cup of tea.
I really enjoyed the section of signed photos from the author’s private collection. My favourite was the one of John Cleese and what an impressive pair of legs he has!
This was a very easy read, humorous at times and the perfect read for fans of celebrities and/or the screen.
