Description

What would you do if you were suddenly reminded of something you witnessed as a young child, but had only just realised the terrible significance of what you saw?

When Cerys Morgan, a beautiful young student, vanished from a crowded beach in Cornwall while camping with friends during the heatwave summer of 1976 it triggered the largest police operation of its kind at the time. Hundreds of locals joined the search and it made the headlines for weeks, but no trace of her was ever found.

Thirty-four years later Emily Harrison is suddenly reminded of something she witnessed as a young child, and only then realises the terrible significance of what she saw. Horrified she tells the police everything she can remember. The trouble is, even her own parents didn’t believe her at the time, so who will believe her now?

Haunted by her memories Emily becomes obsessed and, as the heartbreaking story of Cerys unfolds, she soon realises only she knows the answer. Even when she receives sinister threats - and her contented life rapidly disintegrates around her - she will stop at nothing to find the truth and get closure for Cerys’ elderly parents.

What really did happen on her sixth birthday?

What would you do if you were suddenly reminded of something you witnessed as a young child, but had only just realised the terrible significance of what you saw?

I liked this. What happened to Cerys Morgan 34 years ago? That is what Emily sets out to find after a long-ago memory resurfaces. Emily was camping with Cerys and saw something that wasn't important at the time. Characters were good, enjoyed the dual timeline and story was good. I liked Emily, but found some of her hair-brained decisions a little hard to take. Overall, a nice, quick read!

Emily and her family holiday in the same place in Cornwall where she had a holiday with her parents and sister as a six-year-old. This brings back memories of an incident where an attractive girl called Cerys had vanished. Emily tells the DI who is re-investigating the cold case her recollections of the day which as it was Emily's sixth birthday have stuck in her memory. Instead of leaving it at that Emily starts to talk to people who were around at the time but is she stirring up trouble that could put herself her husband, her family, and even her job at risk? An enjoyable read but I found the character of Emily annoying at times.

I'm Going to Find You is about Emily who sees something when she was a child but doesn't fully understand the importance. Years later she is jarred back to the day and becomes focused on telling what she knows, This story goes from the present to past in telling the story. Emily will put everything she holds dear on the line to solve what happened that day when she was a child.

One of my favorite books this year ! Spellbinding mystery that was interesting and logical. I enjoyed the dual time periods of 1977 and 2020.
Cyres and 3 girlfriends go on an extended camping trip. They are all around 18 years old. The meet up with some local boys for partying and drinking. Cyres finds herself falling for John even tho she has a steady boyfriend back home. This causes much problems with Vicki, her friend, who also has an interest in John. Cyres goes to buy everyone ice cream and never returns.
Emily is only 6 years old. Her family is also vacationing there and she and her sister Debbie are off playing. Emily meets Cyres and thinks that she is as beautiful as a mermaid. The two chat a little and Emily gets a shell bracelet from Cyres. She hides on her sister and watches and overhears and argument between Cyres and someone else. The Cyres has vanished !
After 33 years pass Emily still has the bracelet. Her family is at the same campground and she decides she must do everything in her power to remember details of that day and solve the mystery.
Thank you NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this excellent book !
