Description

Tune into the divine power of Goddess Magic, featuring a directory of deities alongside 50 spells, altars, and exaltations to amplify your highest vibes and attract fulfillment, success, friendship, growth, love, and fortune.

Goddesses, both new and old, will lend their powers to those who seek their favor. Goddess Magic helps you channel divine power while also helping you find your patron deity of choice. Connect with your spiritual heritage and tap into the powers of your ancestors and all the mystical beings around you.

This beautiful handbook contains well-known goddesses from the ancient world famously claimed by witches throughout the ages as well as other, less common ones, like catholic patron saints, around whom specific spells and rituals have grown. Each goddess rules over her domain, protecting and inspiring those who seek her favor with traditional rituals and spells praising her. Her symbols, favorite offerings, and favored forms of worship are all explained in the same illustrated and informative way as the previous books in the series.

Here is but a taste of the powerful patrons you can learn about:

  • HECATE is the Greek goddess of witchcraft and divination. Her roman counterpart is called TRIVIA and both accept offerings at crossroads. She transmits good news of the future, resides as a patron deity over divination spells. She’s an excellent guide for new ventures and is a powerful guardian.
  • KAMALA is an incarnation of the Hindu goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and creativity. Invoke her to bring creative skills so that you can fill your life with pleasure and wealth of every kind by offerings of rice and ghee.
  • MARIE LAVEAU may be the most influential American practitioner of the magical arts. The notorious Voudou Queen of New Orleans dispensed charms and potions (even saving several condemned men from the gallows), told fortunes, and healed the sick.
  • SAINT LUCIA is the bearer of light in the darkness of winter. She is the patron saint of the blind, authors, cutlers, glaziers, laborers, martyrs, peasants, saddlers, salesmen, and stained glass workers.
  • YEMAYA is the Yorùbá Orisha or Goddess of the living Ocean, considered the mother of all. She is the source of all the waters, including the rivers of western Africa, especially the River Ogun. She is associated with the Orisha Olokin (Who is variously described as female, male, or hermaphrodite), Who represents the depths of the Ocean and the unconscious, and together They form a balance. She is the sister and wife of Aganju, the God of the soil, and the mother of Oya, Goddess of the winds.

Goddess Magic by Aurora Kane is a guide on how to bring the energy of the goddess into your magical practice. How to work with goddess energy is explained such as how to set up an altar, intentions, meditate, journal, etc... Many different goddesses are outlined in this book from a variety of cultures which explains her offerings in a practical way. This is different than most books on the topic as they do not concisely explain the symbols and magical ways to invoke their energies. If you are fairly new to goddess work, this book would provide a good starting point, I'm not certain this is a helpful book for those further along on their path.

Overall if you are looking for a quick and easy to understand guide on goddess worship, start with 'Goddess Magic' by Aurora Kane.

This book was absolutely perfect!!
I have been waiting for a book about this very topic! I've always struggled to find the right goddesses for my spell work, and this book is such a great fountain of knowledge and book for reference.
If I had to be picky, I would have liked each chapter to have had a slightly different colour scheme, as visually it all looks very similar.
However, I cannot fault the amount of information in this book. SO much information, but not at all overwhelming. I loved it!!

This book is a really good stepping stone for those who are new in their spiritual journey and are longing for some type of guidance that can only be given from deities not of this world. There is a LOT of good, useful information in this book. I read it from start to finish with no hesitation since it was a learning experience for myself as well. However, there are some concerns about the African Goddesses that are mentioned in this book. From my understanding, based on research and numerous groups I am apart of, Yoruba is a closed religion and you must go through a specific priest to have permission to work with them. It is not as simple as 'picking a goddess that resonates with you.' I feel that could be very misleading to someone who don't know any better and end up experiencing negative consequences in the long run.

**Thank you for the advanced copy! All opinions are my own.**

4 stars. Enchanting, wonderfully illustrated, and easy to follow.

This book is an incredible introductory guide to goddesses and deities arising from many cultures. Each chapter begins with a certain theme, such as "Goddesses of Healing" or "Goddesses of Fortune." The chapter starts off with dates of celebrations/festivals associated with a specific deity and a recommendation as to how to celebrate. Then each chapter delves into a specific goddess and gives background on what they are known for and suggested offerings.

The writing is precise, easy to follow, and great for beginners who come to the table wanting to learn more.

This book is a guide to finding one's way into the world of the deities and learning to connect with them from a spiritual perspective. This guide is particularly useful for people who are new to this field.
Beyond that, it allows you to acquire a lot of knowledge about goddesses existing in many cultures. Whether it is to develop a connection with the spiritual world or simply to learn more for information purposes. Moreover, the book is quick to read and you won't regret it.
My opinion: I found this book to be very helpful and well organized. I had a great time reading it and, being a mythology enthusiast, I was won over by this book. I highly recommend it for people who are interested in different types of mythologies because one of the strengths of this book is that you learn about goddesses in many mythologies such as Japanese, Egyptian, Native American and many others. A great wealth of information! With this book you will learn a lot of information about these deities, about their powers, the offerings...

Very uplifting and "feeling fine" book, with powerful feminine divine spirits and energies! Methods offered here are very modern and practical. Indeed, this is a modern book. Yet I would love more information about the right conditions for some spells and rituals. If you need some comfort and even the manifestation of interesting desires this text may offer the answers.

This is a great resource for baby witches who are curious and looking for a place to start. Or for someone looking to branch out and find a patron deity.

A little surprised to not see certain Goddesses mentioned but I think there was a fantastic array of Goddesses provided. I loved the fact that it looked across all different cultures and not just the traditional Greek\Roman.

I loved how it was broken up so that you could look for Goddesses relating to specific topics. And then some information on them as well as offering suggestions is really helpful.

There is also a huge array of spells and rituals at the end that were very useful.

Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

A thank you to Wellfleet Press/Quarto Publishing for letting me read an ebook copy of this title via #NetGalley.

This is a beautiful and practical book for those who are new to working with Goddess energy, or those wanting more information and inspiration to deepen their existing practice. The first part of the book gives advice for beginners regarding working with Goddesses and their energies, the difference between an offering and a sacrifice. setting up an altar, intention setting and meditating, and journalling.

It then goes into the individual Goddess. This book covers 61 Goddesses from many different cultures, divided up into their spheres of influence. So, for example, under Goddess of Love and Beauty we find Freya and Venus, under Goddesses of Relationships, Truth and Forgiveness we find Ma'at and Rhiannon. Each individual Goddess is given space for some information about them, their powers, and appropriate offerings, as well as when you may wish to call upon them for assistance.

The third part of this book gives 45 Goddess Magic Spells and Rituals. Some tips are provided for those new to spellcasting and working with Goddess Energy, before diving right into the spells themselves. Thankfully quite a lot of these spells do not require a long list of expensive tools and items, which can really be a hurdle for those new to spellcasting. Many just require yourself, your intentions, and the provided chant.

As one of the spells is "Goddess Tea" which involves a herbal tea ceremony, I do wish they had added a little bit of practical advice regarding consuming herbs safely. I work in a pharmacy, so it's the kind of thing that sticks out to me. I realise that a single cup of herbal tea is unlikely to do any harm to the majority of readers, but even a simple nudge to do your research before consuming any herbs would have been appreciated.

Overall, I really did enjoy reading this book. I learned about some Goddesses I had not encountered before, learned more about some I had, and have a wealth of new ideas and inspiration for working with those Goddesses. As this book is already available in the UK, I'll definitely be picking up a copy for my library and checking out the other books from this author that form part of the Mystical Handbook series.
