Description

From Our Family to Your Family with Love.

Sharing our journey to make your journey easier.

Using his experience as a son caring for his dad who has dementia and his mum who has other health issues, the author's poems take us through some of the challenges of caring for a loved one who has dementia.

At the same time the collection of heartfelt and emotional poems is about caring for loved ones no matter what illness or condition they have including messages of hope and advice for those on the same journey.

Some of the poems looks at the emotional challenges faced by carers who can feel all sorts of emotions, often all at the same time and how they need to find a way of caring for their loved one while also coping and caring for themselves.

It is an uplifting collection of poems in its own right showing the power of the human spirit to overcome challenges with faith, hope and love and includes poems contributed by others based on their experiences.

Author royalties for the book will go to Alzheimer's Research UK the world's largest dedicated dementia research charity who do research worldwide aimed at finding a cure for dementia.

The Author is a member of AlzAuthors (www.AlzAuthors.com) an elite class of authors writing about one of the most important diseases of our generation and caring for loved ones. They are a community of bestselling, award-winning authors, who came together because their lives have been impacted by Alzheimer’s and dementia.

The book follows on from the Author's previous collection of poems "Our Dementia Journey" which reviewers described as:

“A wonderful tribute to and celebration of caregivers and all they do."

This collection of poems that Pat has written is both touching and uplifting. It shows the key role that Carers have in looking after loved ones with dementia and other conditions.

We’re so grateful to Pat for supporting Alzheimer’s Research UK. Fantastic fundraising efforts like this collection of poems will help us to make life-changing research breakthroughs for people with dementia.”

“McTaggart's poems are a sweet source of comfort, shared experience, and wise advice as he poignantly expresses the joys, the sadness, and the challenges of caregiving, especially for loved ones with dementia. As I also know from my own experiences with my mother and now my aunt, there are moments of great love amidst the despair.”

Linda Austin, author of Poems That Come to Mind: For Those Who Love Someone With Dementia.

“The collection offers us an insight like a traveller’s guide to the land of dementia, helping us to identify the unknowns and quirks of the scenery and to negotiate the many rocky roads that confront us in every direction, often showing us a way forward that we may not have thought possible.

An invaluable companion for dementia carers young and old, crossing international and emotional boundaries alike, with warmth and charm.”

Peter Burgham, Award Winning Poet

As a new carer to my recently disabled husband this book spoke to me.
Although it was mainly about dementia patients so many words were so true in any caring situation.
If you are a carer looking after a loved one read this book!
Thank you Patrick J McTaggart for writing from the heart and sharing it.
Thank you NetGalley

A book full of emotional poems that were very beautifully written. This was described as being a book for. Carers of people with dementia but I think that others reading it may get to understand the issues that the carers face. It may be that someone who is not an carer may know someone who is a carer and it may help them to understand what that person is going through. I can see that this might be a useful book for the carer groups that are set up to give support and help to those who are carers

Patrick J McTaggart's work has come into my life at the perfect time. As I'm starting this journey of caring for a loved one in a new way, it's been extremely helpful to hear someone put my thoughts into words and to have advice from someone who has been dealing with it for a while. Very thankful to have read this.
