Having read a number of women serial killer books of late i wondered if this would be another one jumping on the band wagon. Oh how wrong i was, an engaging story with well constructed characters and just a fabulous read. My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy. Read this five star read far to quickly.

Something happened to Millie Masters sister. As a result she is determined to find the culprit.
Millie is running a hotline called M. Anyone feeling in threat or danger can call her up of an evening and she will come to their rescue. Millie is aware that there are many men out there who just wont take NO for an answer. It is during one of her rescue missions that something happens. This starts her on the path she takes.

Although you really shouldn't like Millie you can't help but feel for her flawed character. You also come to realise that there's more to her history that's put her on the path to murder.

Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to see an ARC

Once I got into this book, I absolutely ate it up! I often found myself reading too fast and had to keep going back to get the details. Thankfully this was an eBook otherwise the temptation of looking ahead would have been too great. A very interesting title initially drew me in, and it did not disappoint. The book just kept getting better as it went on. All I could think towards the end was that I hope Millie isn’t girl bossing too close to the sun!

Don’t you just want to grab this, switch off the phone and curl up on the sofa
By far one of my favourite books I've read this year… I loved every minute…

4.5 stars rounded up.

I support women's rights, and more importantly women's wrongs (she did nothing wrong).

I really enjoyed the jovial writing style, and each reveal of information was well done. Whilst some things were predictable and some silly actions, it was relatively realistic and didn't detract from my overall enjoyment. I enjoyed the relationships in the book, especially the "I'd do anything for you" type of love outside of a romantic relationship. Every character had a purpose, even if very minor, and the ending tied everything up well. I thoroughly enjoyed this and would love to read more like it. Thank you to netgalley for the arc.

One sentence... badass female serial killer with witty dark humor

This book was such a ride and was such an addicting read. You get to watch Millie, our main character, descend into a murderous madness and seek revenge on all those who wrong women. The idea of this book caught my attention, and the minute I started it I knew that it would keep my attention. It's just such a witty, dark, fast-paced book, that also has such depth to it underneath all of that.

Millie is a strong main character who runs a messaging app where she rescues girls from bad situations, but things take a turn for worse when she ends up killing a guy on a rescue mission. But it ends up that she is entirely okay with that because she thinks he deserves it. In fact, she thinks a lot of guys deserve that kind of ending, and if no one else is going to do it... then she will take it into her own hands.

This book was utter chaos and insanity, and really kept me focused on it. The badassery. The dark humor. The comments on our society and how women are treated. It was all a perfect addicting mix. I cannot express how much fun I had with this novel, and that it's a must-read if you want a book with these qualities.

Thank you to Netgalley and Avon Books for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

"How to Kill a Guy in Ten Ways" by Eve Kellman, is a page turner, with a very interesting female main character.

We follow Millie, who runs a phone message service called "Message M" for women who feel unsafe. The most important people in her life are her sister and her best friend, for whom she would do anything.
How far will she go to save women who need her help and can she get away with it?

I enjoyed reading this book. The MC is morally grey and someone I both like and dislike immensely. If you are interested in reading this book I can guarantee it does not get boring. But I would recommend reading the trigger warnings beforehand.

How to Kill a Guy in Ten Ways is hilarious, messy, and completely unhinged... and I loved it!

The plot was unlike any other book I have read before. The book follows Millie, who morphs from a millennial in England, running a hotline to help women and girls in unsafe situations with men, into a budding serial killer. I don't think the character is meant to be fully likable, but Eve Kellman is able to pull it off perfectly. It was interesting getting to follow her descent into chaos as the list of murdered men grows.

There are some major trigger warnings for this story -- murder (obviously), death, domestic abuse, suicide attempts, rape, and incest, to name a few. While the book was overall pretty funny, it was also very dark.

This book was Kellman's debut novel, and I absolutely can not wait for her next book. Though this is only my 4th book read, I am already thinking this will be in my top 10 reads of 2024.

I really enjoyed Eve Kellman's debut novel, How to Kill a Guy in Ten Ways.

Millie runs a help line called Message M. Girls who are out on dates or otherwise and who feel threatened by a man can call or text this number and Millie (or M) will come to the rescue. Message M is Millie's way of dealing with her anger over what happened to her younger sister Katie, who was raped on New Year's Eve and has stopped eating or leaving her bed. Millie's ultimate goal is to take revenge on the man that did it.
Millie takes revenge into her own hands when she intentionally / accidentally kills a man when rescuing a girl. Suddenly she has a new tool to fight back with, murder.
This book was a lot of fun to read and I'm really looking forward to her next book!

I got a review copy from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion of the book. This is one of the best books I’ve read in awhile and I couldn’t put it down. Millie is such a relatable character and by then end, regardless of the plot, you keep rooting for her. I’m trying to avoid spoilers, because this is a really gripping and fun story. The plot is unique, fast paced and unpredictable. There were several points in the story where I had no idea what was coming next or how it was going to end. What a fun read. I would love Millie to be a multiple novel character, but who knows? I can’t wait to see what the author has coming next.

Wow! This was so much fun. I highly recommend this book. It was even better then “How to kill men”. I felt more connected to the main character.

Millie Masters runs a public service (for a small fee obvs) helping women get rid of pests and other vermin. I cackled in public reading this book. Well played.

Thanks @netgalley and @avonbooks for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I absolutely loved this book. It’s got a very different premise, with a main character who I probably should not like, but couldn’t help but be entertained by. I had no idea where this story was going next, and did not see any of it coming. This was a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ book for me. Check it out when it’s released in March 2024. #avivaandfriendsrecos

I loved this book! It had brilliant twists all.the way through and was so cleverly written. A must read!

AHHH. This is the third book I've finished this year and it is setting the bar HIGH for the rest.

This is everything I love in weird, quirky, thrillery stories. The tone reminded me of Blood Sugar and Never Saw Me Coming. It's clever and quick-paced, and such a twist on serial killer stories--Millie is so beautifully ordinary in many ways. She doesn't *mean* to kill, not really, but she's looking for justice/revenge for her little sister and not letting anyone get in her way. The tone of this book is fantastic--one moment it's tense as all get out, the next a snarky one-liner had me in stitches. It's a beautiful combination of serial killer thriller and thoughtful commentary on real, relatable issues, and there were multiple lines that made me stop and reflect for a moment.

Loved this one. So grateful to Netgalley and the publisher for the arc!

Millie Masters is a normal girl with a normal job by day… by night, she becomes a vigilante, rescuing vulnerable people from predators on nights out. One night, things get out of hand and Millie takes the law into her own hands.
Millie’s sister was assaulted on a night out and justice was not served… until Millie gets involved.

If you’re looking for a book you absolutely cannot put down, this is the book for you. Great for fans of ‘How To Kill Your Family’.
Likeable characters and a great storyline with lots of plot twists, I found myself nervous, excited and on edge when reading this. I’m actually sad to have finished this! Love the cover, love the style of writing, characters and storyline.
Absolutely brilliant book, I look forwards for further books from Eve Kellman.

I absolutely LOVED this book! I flew through it! The feminine rage and the witty banter was *chefs kiss* 🤌🏼 Being a woman, I have known many creepy men and I’ve heard enough stories to go around. The way this story plays out is fantastic. THE ENDING THOUGH 😱I can not wait for this to come out and I can purchase a copy for all my friends.

Wow!! This book shocked me in ways I did not see coming. It was unexpectedly darker than I was thinking it would be, but I surprisingly enjoyed it! My favorite thing about this book were the epic twists!! I never could have predicted what ended up happening. It was just nuts!! My mind is still reeling… A masterfully woven murder spree with just a dash of humor. It had me guffawing one minute and then reeling with nerves and dark emotions the next.

Perfect for fans of the shows Dexter and How to Get Away With Murder.

Also fans of the book: How to Kill Men and Get Away With It by: Katy Brent. Very similar but a bit darker.

Thank you @NetGalley for the ARC!

Eve Kellman - I applaud you. This was absolutely fantastic.

I went through so many emotions reading this book. The dark humour had me chuckling to myself the whole way through whilst also holding my breath & gasping at some of the really dark parts!

Few comments saying it wasn’t realistic but in my opinion with these type of books, we don’t want it to be! The fact that we shouldn’t like Millie (because let’s face it, in the real world she’s a psychopath) but we do, the ending & the laughable carelessness of her crimes mean you can immerse in the funny side without it feeling too dark.

Eve does a good job of setting the background to this story but keeping it until the right moment which I enjoyed and the ending left it open for you to make your own mind up.

Thanks to NetGalley & Avon Books for letting me read this ARC.

This is dark humor and suspense done very well. Millie is a rather unhinged but likable woman who takes things into her own hands when men do bad things to women. It doesn’t always go well, and then she ends up falling for a nice guy who turns out to be a police detective in the midst of her good or not so good deeds. This book is infinitely bingeable and good fun if you can the violence and obvious trigger warnings. One of my favorite fiction reads of the year.

I read a digital ARC of this book via NetGalley.

Well I loved it, read in less than a day I could not put it down, I was engrossed from the first page, millies story draws you in so quickly and you can't help but wonder where the heck this story is going to go. I loved the friendship she had with nina and how protective she was of her sister Katie and how she has always wanted to protect her from when she was born, this is unlike any book I have ever read before and yeah she made some questionable decisions but you can't help but root for mille to come good at the end. Very enjoyable thank you so much. Will definitely look out for this author in the future

This might just be a contender for my book of the year.

Between the sharp, witty quips at the state of mankind and the self-deprecating humour that someone both softens and starkly illuminates the (frankly quite dark and gory) crimes that our main character, Millie, commits, This is every woman’s dream revenge plot come to life. High five to the ladies for this masterpiece

A woman killing to avenge her sister's rape.
I wasn't really sure how that was going to be anything but heartbreaking but the author made it work incredibly.

The real star of the book was the author's incredibly incisive writing on support available when one is in crisis, and the beauty of a bond between loved ones.

This book is both light hearted and heartwarming and dark and sad, much like reality

I would recommend this to anyone who would like something a little heartwarming with a real take on the failure to help women in this world.

I was sent this ARC by netgalley in return for an honest review.

‘How To Kill A Guy In Ten Ways’ by Eve Kellman is a gripping, shocking, darkly hilarious read for fans of Katie Brent and Bella Mackie. Righteous protector / serial-killer extraordinaire Millie Masters is the main character and Kellman has created a woman who is likeable and relatable despite her less-than-ideal hobby… Millie’s motivations - to avenge her sister and protect the women who contact her hotline - are always clear and her greyish moral code allows for some feelings of guilt when problems go awry.

I loved Millie’s best friend Nina, who really comes into her own later in the story. The pacing of the tale was perfect - I wished my commute was longer as I did NOT want to put down my kindle as I reached my destination! I could not stop thinking about all of the examples throughout the novel of how women have to stay alert and protect themselves - texting a friend a hook up’s address, being careful on running apps, using Millie’s “Dial M” hotline - desperately sad but depressingly true!

I wasn’t a huge fan of the ending, and there were a few frustrating times where I felt that the magnitude of evidence Millie hadn’t even considered was overwhelming (example: if stalkers can track your Strava, the police should be able to also), but that didn’t really detract from the overall brilliance of this novel… a little suspension of disbelief never hurt anyone.

Giving this 4.5 stars (and rounding up!) I’d definitely recommend this book, which releases on 28 March 2024.

I received a free review copy from the publisher in exchange for my honest feedback. Thanks NetGalley and Avon Books!

A dark comedy about a female serial killer. The main character can swing a tad unlikeable at times (go figure). The story was thoroughly entertaining whether you feel invested or not. Loved the ending!

I mean, the title of this book alone is worth 5 stars. It’s what sold me on it immediately. I LOVED this book…. But I am also A Weirdo.

It’s about a chick who has taken it upon herself to be a vigilante protecting women who feel threatened by men. Like, if you’re out at a bar and someone won’t leave you alone, you call her and she picks you up and takes you home.

And then one of the men kinda-accidentally dies. And this serves as inspiration for her ever-escalating vengeance.

I am so glad this book lived up to the title in terms of the dark-black humor in it. It was so fun and psychotic and, frankly, just My Ideal Read.

Got this early from NetGalley and there were annoying formatting issues and typos but it didn’t take away from the whole thing. Hope it gets buzz when it’s released. I’ll be re-reading it for sure.

The way things got wrapped up is a bit far-fetched… but I stand by this being a (pitch black) dark comedy and so it doesn’t have to be all that realistic.

When the first line of the book is “the first man I ever killed was my father”, you genuinely want to keep reading. At least I did. Millie is the typical angry, bitter millenial. Its borderline annoying but it kind of lures you in. If you were one of the people wondering if ‘Promising Young Woman’ was based on a book; it could very easily be this book. Therefore its a bit predictable, but even so you want to keep reading. Its really psycho, pretty triggering (csa, rape), and really addictive. First 5 star read this year!

Really loved this book. 5 stars! I thought it was funny, sharp, witty and to the point exactly like Millie who doesn't trust men or their intentions and with good reason, after all the book begins with her talking about how the first man she ever killed was her father! Although it feels like you shouldn't I really liked Millie and how nonchalant she is about a bit of serial killing.... When her sister is hurt she feels she the law doesn't protect the people that need protecting and decides to do it herself. Enjoyed the characters, plot and most of all the writing. I will be recommending and looking out for more from Eve

This was absolutely brilliant. I know it's only March, but this is hands down in my top 5 books of the year already. We have a female serial killer with dark humor and highly relatable female rage? I'm all the way here for it. There wasn't one moment that I wasn't rooting for Millie, our FMC. This book can get dark, so be sure to check out the trigger warnings before you pick it up.

Trigger warnings: rape, child sexual assault, suicide, self-harm, domestic violence, semi-graphic murder

Many thanks to the author, NetGalley, and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. Expected publication date of March 28, 2024.

'How to Kill a Guy in Ten Ways' features Millie, the mastermind behind 'Message M', a hotline for women who ever feel unsafe (usually at night-time, usually around men - you know the drill). Millie only wishes that there was more that she could do help those women, especially her sister, who was assaulted when there was no 'Message M' service. Ensues the chaos.

I really enjoyed this. I was so drawn in, I just had to keep reading to find out what happens next. Surely she can't keep going? Surely she is caught? But at the same time, I was also rooting for her because who else is going to stand up for and protect these women, if we as a society are failing them?

The story is filled with dark humour and social commentary on how we are failing to protect these women from the worst of society. It is chaotic and sometimes extends your realm of belief, but it is a fantastic read and I highly recommend it for anyone who loves a dark comedy thriller.

I support women's rights, and most importantly, I support women's wrongs.

Please check trigger warnings for this one. I believe they were at the beginning of the book.

This is a fantastic story. Millie is compelled to live a life of vigilante justice as a result of an attack on her sister. She starts a hotline for women who feel unsafe and well...things spiral out of control.

This book is saved from becoming too dark by spits and spats of complete hilarity. Thank goodness!

I loved it utterly.

Thank you to the publisher for gifting me a copy. It is my pleasure to write an honest review.

Are you on a date that isn’t working out? Can’t shake that creepy guy at the bar? Worried you’re being followed home? Message M.

I really enjoyed this one Millie had a really humorous side to her which I found my self laughing out loud to at some of her comments. The book is dark in some parts and has mentions of some sensitive topics. I'm still to decide whether Millie is actually a vigilante or a serial killer as there's a big difference in the two.

There is a great mix of characters some I found likeable and others not. Millie's relationship with her sister Katie and her friend Nina were rock solid but at times, I really wish Millie would have just spent more time with Katie and helped her through the process of what she was going through.

I will definetly be recommding this book to my friends and followers over on Instagram. A great read with a big splash of humour!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the digital copy.

A page turner from the first sentence, How to Kill a Guy in Ten Ways tracks Millie’s path from vigilante to serial killer. This is a gripping thriller, but also full of humour and light hearted moments. Millie is largely a likeable character, who makes no apologies for her extra curricular pursuits. There’s something refreshing about a female serial killer that takes full accountability for their actions. Even more than this, Millie is both heroine and villain, depending on whose perspective you look at. The complexity of the character makes it hard to do anything other than root for Millie.

I could see this as a movie, beginning with a voice over and scenes from the past as flashbacks.

I absolutely loved this and couldn’t read it fast enough. In fact, I got a headache from spending too long on my Kindle! A five star for me and I really look forward to Eve Kellman’s next book!

Millie is the undercover hero who responds to the cries of women in danger. If there’s anything she can do for them, this is it. Until her sister is sexually assaulted and Millie amps up her mission but she may be putting herself in danger.

This was a fantastic read with a sprinkling of humour. I didn’t expect the twists and loved the plot.

I recently had the pleasure of delving into this book, and I am beyond impressed with the mesmerizing world that the author has crafted. From start to finish, the intricate plot weaves a tapestry of suspense, emotion, and unexpected twists that kept me eagerly turning the pages.

One of the standout features of this book is undoubtedly its characters. Each one is meticulously developed, breathing life into the narrative with their unique personalities, motivations, and flaws. The protagonists are not just names on paper; they are relatable, complex individuals with whom readers can form a genuine connection. The antagonist, too, is not a mere foil but a multi-dimensional force that adds depth to the story. The author's ability to create such well-rounded characters is a testament to their storytelling prowess.

The plot unfolds seamlessly, drawing the reader into a richly layered narrative that expertly balances tension, drama, and moments of poignant reflection. The pacing is impeccable, maintaining a perfect rhythm that keeps the reader engaged without sacrificing the depth of the story. The author skillfully navigates through various plot arcs, interweaving them with finesse to create a cohesive and satisfying whole.

What sets this book apart is its ability to tackle profound themes while maintaining an accessible and engaging narrative. The book seamlessly combines suspense and emotional depth, making it a truly immersive experience. The author's prose is both elegant and evocative, painting vivid imagery that lingers in the reader's mind long after the final page is turned.

If you're searching for a book that seamlessly blends captivating characters with a compelling plot, this is a shining example. I can't wait to explore more literary worlds crafted by this exceptional storyteller.

As a reader, I found "How to Kill a Guy in Ten Ways" by Eve Kellman to be a thrilling and addictive read. This book is RIGHT up my alley. I love a good female vigilante who rights the wrongs men. Millie is immediately a character that draws you in. The love for her sister and her anger for all the women taken advantage of is relatable and makes you want to go along for the ride of revenge. I can’t wait for this author to write another novel.

Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from NetGalley. This book gripped me right from the off. Kellman writes sensitively about important social themes, and the book was dark, funny, well-paced, and had a heartbreaking twist. Although Millie wasn't exactly a likeable narrator, I was utterly invested in her story, and I liked the supporting characters such as Nina.
