The Wobble Club

Set in and around South London, Gill and Brolly love food and they love each other. They're massively overweight and don’t care. But once their friend Tiny Tim eats himself to death Brolly decides to go on a diet.

Gill refuses so Brolly starts to lose weight in secret, setting off a series of unpredictable events that will change their lives forever.

According to the House of Commons Library statistics published earlier this year, almost 3/4s of people aged between 45 and 74 in the UK are obese. The Wobble Club is a deliciously dark investigation into our troublesome relationship with food and how it affects our minds, bodies and lives. To die or to diet; that is the question.

Simon Rumley is one of the UK’s leading independent film makers and has directed nine feature films. These include Crowhurst a film about a doomed sailor who, in 1968, entered a round the world race sponsored by The Sunday Times and the horror anthology The ABCs of Death which premiered at Toronto Film Festival. 

The Wobble Club is his debut novel and is The Groucho Club book of the month for October.
