‘Radiant’ Emily Henry

‘What a dreamy and sexy summer novel. Carley Fortune knows how to tug at your heart’
Kiley Reid, New York Times bestselling author of Such a Fun Age and Come and Get It

----

This summer they’ll keep their promise. This summer they won't give into temptation. This summer will be different.

The first time Lucy and Felix met she was on vacation on Prince Edward Island. And a tour of the beaches wasn’t the only thing he showed her. But when she discovered his true identity as her best friend, Bridget’s brother, their electric night should have become a distant memory…

Each year with Lucy and Bridget’s return for a summer escape, she promises herself she won’t end up in Felix’s arms, but it’s easier said than done.

Not this year though. This year it will be different. With Bridget facing the biggest crisis of her life, Lucy must join her for one last trip to the island.

But Felix’s sparkling eyes and flirty quips have been replaced with something new, something more and Lucy’s beginning to wonder just how safe her heart truly is.

I am so pleased she did it again! Carley Fortune delivered another book which I was able to read faster than any other; the story was charming, spicy and deeply exciting with such romantic escapism and chemistry.
I loved the main characters Lucy (obviously), Bridget and Felix. I thought each were joyous to read about and I could not decide if I enjoyed the romance or friendship themes more. Both struck such emotional chords with me, and I enjoyed every second of them.

With a setting of Toronto, combined with Prince Edward Island, I was in love. The references to Anne of Green Gables took my breath away as so many of my favourite things collided. The references to Anne Shirley made this book for me!

There were so many lovely themes and quotes to take from this book. A story that will stay with me for a long time, with characters who seemed more developed and standalone than Carley’s previous focuses.

I could not recommend this book enough, and cannot wait for Carley’s next one! I am so happy I am keeping up with her releases. She is probably the only author I have ever had the commitment to do this for and she has never disappointed!

I knew I wouldn’t be let down by this one. The best friend’s brother trope was 10/10. Carley Fortune truly knocks it out of the park every time!

I am a huge fan of Carley Fortune and have been super excited for THIS SUMMER WILL BE DIFFERENT. It was everything I had hoped it would be - such a beautiful, engaging read, and I didn't want it to ever end.

Carly Fortune can do no wrong! The queen of romance and an auto buy author for me. I devoured this book in 24 hours.

This story is set over a series of summers where the main character, Lucy, visits her best friend’s family home on a beautiful island (the descriptions of the island are stunning). Lucy, unbeknown to her, spends her first night there with her best friend’s brother.

Over the next few summers you see them get closer and rekindle, the tension and banter is unreal but neither are in a place to commit nor do they want to damage their relationship with the sister. How the author manages to leave you hanging on the edge of your seat with fingers grazing, legs brushing past each other and the public ‘glances’ is just beautiful. Your heart is gripped and I was left racing through the pages to find out more…

This book follows the characters through their 20s navigating life, love, careers and friendships. It was so relatable. It’s heart-warming and gripping and there are moments of pure joy, sadness, laughter and passion. I highly recommend!
