Fame comes at a price…

The Griffin Sisters had the world at their feet, catapulted to stardom in the early 00’s before they become one of rock music’s greatest mysteries:

Zoe, effortlessly gorgeous, who loved the fans and the fame, dancing under the lights while her sister’s voice rang out across stadiums.

Cassie, never comfortable with the crowds or the attention, but with the voice of a generation, rich, haunting, touched with heartbreak.

It’s two decades since The Griffin Sisters broke up. Zoe’s a wife and mother, living in suburbia, occasionally recognised by a nostalgic fan. No one knows where Cassie is. The sisters haven’t spoken in years.

Now, despite her mum’s warnings, Zoe’s teenage daughter, Cherry, is determined to break into the music business and to discover the truth about what happened to the band all those years ago.

But as secrets emerge, Cassie and Zoe must face the consequences of their choices: the ones they made and the ones the music industry made for them. Can they forgive each other – and themselves? And will the Griffin Sisters ever make music again?

From the Number 1 bestselling author Jennifer Weiner comes a glittering novel set in the world of pop music about sisters, motherhood and the dreams we chase.

Two sisters, born a little over a year apart.

They're as unalike each other as can be.

Zoe - pretty, outgoing, confident.

Cassie - not.

Their mother Janice secretly resents Cassie, the baby she never wanted.

Zoe secretly resents Cassie, because she misses out on all sorts of things because she has to drag her sullen, silent sister around with her.

Until the day that Zoe wants Cassie to do something for her. Because Cassie owes her.

But Cassie, the naturally talented musician, doesn't want the attention that increasing fame brings...

Brilliant

This is not the typical kid of book which I would read however I am glad I did.

Definitely gave off Daisy Jones vibes with a really interesting family drama at the heart of it.

Great read

I've been anticipating this book since the first "coming soon" email I received. The synopsis vividly describes the story of two sisters who had the world and by their own actions lost it. The cover pulls your attention and I had to read it!!!!

From the first, readers meet Zoe and Cass, sisters who could not be any more different if they tried and the mother, Janice, who can never decide if their differences are her fault. Though different, we learn that the sisters need each other. In most every thing they do outside their home, Zoe takes care of her little sister, Cass. Then one day when Janice is checking on her daughters before bed, she hears them sing and these sisters will never be the same again. Singing will take them to the recording stages and make them stars, but also change the relationship between the two.
The story unwinds in several flash back and forward while we hear both sisters tell their side of the story. Then a thrid young woman, daughter to one, neice to the other, will stir the sisters' history to add her voice to the harmony found and lost, then found again. Through it all, their stories grow from simple to complex, with the entrance of fame, fortune, and a young man.

The anticipation I felt for this story was repeatedly rewarded with a story that forces readers to choose sids over and over to finally see that there was only one side to this story, it just belonged to both sisters.

I can’t tell you how much l loved this book! Zoe and Cassie; together know as the Griffin Sister; singing superstars. We begin knowing the their band broke up at the height of the their and that the sisters no longer speak. This story is told from both their sides starting from their childhoods and moving through time. Zoe’s daughter Cherry is a key factor of their reunion. This book was absolutely amazing; the ending made me cry!

Wow! This is a brilliant book! The griffin sisters couldn't be more opposite if they tried and when fame comes calling it's inevitably going to end very badly. Time is a healer though so they say!

For me this was a slow burner, but it soon picked up pace.
With a dual timeline and told from two perspectives, we learn about Zoe and Cassie, two sisters, one who wants to be famous and the other who wants to be accepted.
It was a real education to learn how difficult it is to break into the music industry, even when you’re naturally talented.
This story made me cry and I loved it!

This is a completely brilliant book. I loved loved loved it and simply couldn’t put it down. The Griffin Sisters are a band and the story flits between present day and when the band were at their height. It’s a story of jealousy, sadness, loneliness and redemption. The sisters themselves are complex characters and I think Cassie would now be considered neurodiverse but then, she was just the odd singer who was supremely talented but couldn’t cope with any kind of celebrity status. I have read Jennifer Weiners work in the past but this I magnificent. Enthralling, emotional and life affirming. Highly recommended.

Absolutely brilliant! I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advance copy, I will definitely be recommending it.

I’m a complete sucker for a faux-tobiohraphy, and this one hits the mark. It switches between present day Cherry, desperate to make her mark in the music industry, and the past, where her mother and aunt actually did. A great story, family drama and a satisfying resolution.

This book fully consumed my mind for two days. The writing and plot were divine, and I could not get enough.

There is so much detail within the POV chapters and to the drama that unfolds between Zoe, Cassie and Cherry. Each of the characters are complex and crafted in such a way that they felt as real and me or you.

Cassie’s character is one that stood out to me; she struggles with things so many people can relate to, and others only some may know first hand.

This was a book I will most likely re-read at some point as it pulled me out of my slump, and got me hooked so quickly. The love, loss, laughter and betrayal that is woven into this novel will pull at your heartstrings, and by the end of the novel, if your anything like me, you will be rooting for all three of the main characters.!

Magnificent writing, a fabulous tumultuous plot and characters to fall in love with - a true must read.

A wonderful story about sisters, betrayal, body image and the critical eye in which we view ourselves.

I am always drawn to stories which feature music and when I heard the comparison for The Griffin Sisters’ Greatest Hits was Daisy Jones and the Six I had to read it!

The story covered some dark themes which were handled sensitively and I liked how the setting mirrored the characters states of mind. I enjoyed the complicated relationships between the characters and the exploration of family and forgiveness.

A compelling and moving read and it’s out next Thursday! Thank you for my ARC 💙💛

Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in return for an honest review. I absolutely adored this book so much. It was full of nostalgia and magic that took me back to my youth. The story is actually a very deep and emotional look at relationships, friendships, family dynamics and body image. I really loved the characters and I felt as though they were all each fighting their own internal battles. The dual timeline worked really well in my opinion along with the alternate pov. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone as I really enjoyed it. 5 stars

this book was sooooo goooood. it had heart. it had different timelines. it had sisters and family and it had intrigue, secrets and unraveling. i loved it. i couldnt put it down. and i was instantly searching this author out. i wanted others to read it so we could discuss it. a fab read.
Cassie and Zoe are sisters. opposite in every way possible but somehow it works in their music as they have a hit of a band together. until one day they dont. to be honest with the way they were treated i wanted nothing more than these targeted girls to get out of the business. ugh what a toxic rubbish heap that was. how their relationship could last i do not know. and turns out it didnt.
one is the front singer but not what theyd want to "front" the band. one has the drive for it but told shes too pretty and not as talented. what the!?
then it all ended, and in the worst of ways.
decades later they are living very different lives.
they both live away from that life. but zoes daughter wants in it. she wants stardom and to be "viral". so she goes off to find Cassie because she thinks she can help her reach her dreams. Zoe doesnt want her involved in all that. she knows just what it can do to you. she knows how it ended for her and her sister. she misses her sister. and the feeling is returned. their love for eachother was clear to see and it was heart breaking to see what separated them,
the way we learn both of the past and present was done really smartly. they pushed and pulled you in the right directions and had you wanting more from both timelines.
i felt for all these woman. they all had so much going on and i wanted to hug them all and help them at least be together.
i dont feel anything but rage for that industry and many like it. sadly we see it so often nowadays. how destroying and toxic it is. and sadly also that nothing seems to change in it.
i was rooting for all these brave woman. all the way through i just wanted to make sure they ended up ok.

This book was a great read that I devoured in one sitting. The story of the Griffin Sisters, Zoe and Cassie who had the world at their feet but as sisters were poles apart. They had a great career in rock music but what made it all fall apart?
When Zoe’s daughter, Cherry, wants to make a name for herself in music she is determined to uncover secrets that her mother and aunt would rather keep hidden.
I loved the way that the characters were written, they felt very real to me and the story progressed beautifully. I was intrigued enough to want more. It is definitely a fun book to read.

I loved this story of two sisters who couldn't be more different forming a successful pop group. Cassie is a child musical prodigy, a highly gifted musician and singer but very shy and introverted. Sister Zoe is confident and outgoing with great performance skills, but lacks the natural, raw musical talent of her sister. The story follows the rise and fall of the band and what ultimately shattered their careers and relationship. Would highy recommend.

The Griffin Sister Greatest Hits by Jennifer Weiner is described as a story of sisters, love and the power of music and it absolutely lives up to that description.
Zoe and Cassie are sisters, just one year apart in age but poles apart when it comes to personality and appearance. Zoe, the eldest, is her mother's darling, beautiful and outgoing and determined to be a star. By contrast Cassie is quieter and uncomfortable in her own skin, and hides from the limelight in every situation, but she has been gifted with a once in a generation musical talent and a voice that once heard is never forgotten. When circumstances conspire to have the sisters perform together in a local talent show fate intervenes and before they know it the girls are in the middle of a bidding war from multiple record agencies, despite Cassie's reluctance and obvious discomfort, Global success and a record breaking album later the band breaks up under mysterious circumstances and Cassie disappears, becoming a recluse who hides from her past and goes to great lengths to ensure that her location is never discovered. Zoe tries to go it alone but without Cassie the magic just isn't there and so she leaves her career behind to settle down and become a mother. Decades later and despite her best efforts to discourage her , Zoe's daughter Cherry is determined to become a singer and when she auditions for a tv talent show she decides to track down her aunt, not just to uncover the truth about what happened in the band, but also because she knows that finding the elusive Cassie virtually guarantees her a slot on the show, especially if she can convince her aunt to perform with her. The secrets she uncovers will force all three women to face the consequences of their choices.
Oh how I loved this book, I tore through it in a day because I was so invested in these characters and their complicated relationships. I really empathised with Cassie, the "bigger girl", uncomfortable in her own skin and felt so angry at the way her mother so often failed to see her. The sister dynamic between Zoe and Cassie was fascinating and very believable, from Zoe's protection of her as a young child to her manipulation of her as a teen and how she pushed her, sometimes with good intentions but often for her own gain, I was so sad to see how that relationship frayed and disintegrated as the band rose to fame and I think the author did an incredible job of portraying how that happened and how it impacted on everyone it touched, not just the sisters themselves, but also the rest of the band members and even later Zoe's family. The complicated nature of sisterhood is definitely on display here and the road to forgiveness is far from smooth. There is a love triangle in this story and it is tragic, but despite it being a trope that I normally do not like, I thought it was well handled here and added a lot of emotional impact to the story.
I cannot recommend this wonderful book highly enough, I loved it from first page to last and though I rarely reread books this is one that I feel I could come back to again and enjoy just as much as the first time.
I read and reviewed an ARC courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher, all opinions are my own.

At last, a rock music novel that is believable, down to earth and relatable. The ‘Griffin Sisters’ Greatest Hits’ draws the reader into the lives of the two vastly different siblings, time-arching between their legendary career zenith into their ordinary present day lives, gradually revealing the reason why they are both hiding themselves away from the world after a shattering tragedy at the height of their fame makes it impossible for the band to carry on.

An entertaining and engaging novel. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The Griffin Sisters were one the the groups of the day. They had a large following and even now they are remembered with affection.
One day it all vanished and the sisters never spoke or saw each other again. Zoe married and had a family whilst Cassie disappeared .
Zoe's daughter Chloe enters a talent competition unaware of her mother's past. She unwittingly finds out and is determined to find out more so goes in search of Cassie in the hope of getting her to mentor her for the final of the competition.
Soon though secrets that have been hidden for twenty years are revealed and the sisters must face each other and face their actions.
Will they ever sing again?

Lovely story about Zoe and Cassie following their successful career until they break up. Zoe's daughter Cherry wants to pursue a career in music but her mother tries to dissuade her, so Cherry sets out to find her mothers sister Cassie who has disappeared.
What follows is a riveting story of what happened between the sisters and how Cherry tries to get them back together, loved the characters stories and background.
Would highly recommend.

I loved this book. It had exactly the right amount of intrigue, sisterly drama and pace to keep me reading well past normal bedtime.

The characters were well drawn, flawed but all likeable - and the live music circuit was a great setting for it all to play out.

I know it’s been likened to Daisy Jones and the six (which I also enjoyed) but I think it stands in its own. A journey into the joys and perils of fame at a young age and the lifelong effects it has.

Completely immersive and unexpectedly emotional. As I read the final pages I was desperate for the story not to end while battling to focus through the tears. (The emotional stuff comes out of nowhere, right at the end - be warned!)
The best book I’ve read this year, and easily as good as the hype. Daisy Jones is a worthy comparison and well-earned.
The characters, particularly Cassie, are so relatable. Russell (the love interest) is an absolute angel, and don’t even get me started on how cute Wesley the dog is.
It deals with autism, gaslighting and the importance of the ‘Me too’ movement with sensitivity and empathy.
Such a great story. I flew through it.
If you’re looking for a book that gets you out of a reading slump, look no further.
Five big ones from me, with thanks to NetGalley and HQ for a chance to read an ARC.
The Griffin Sisters’ Greatest Hits releases on 8 May.

LOVED LOVED LOVED THIS!!!

This is a story of two sisters who make it big for one incredible album, before tragedy strikes and their music careers end.

Zoe is a heartbreaker - all American girl who is beautiful and craves fame. Her sister Cassie hates the limelight but has the musical talent and voice of an angel.. The Griffin Sisters are an instant hit.

Years later, Zoe's daughter Cherry has her own quest for fame and is determined to find the Aunt she knows nothing about, and uncover the story of what happened.

The book flits from past to present and is heart breaking at times. When I picked it up I was worried that it was going to be an imitation of 'Daisy Jones' but it just wasnt - it was fabulous.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Zoe and Cassie, are the Griffin Sisters a singing sensation after being discovered at a Battle of the Bands competition.
Thrown into fame and stardom, which Zoe loves and Cassie doesn't brings a whole set of problems. 20 years on and we find out what happened at the height of fame and why the 2 sisters no longer speak.
This was a truly amazing book.

I adored this book, everything about it was brilliant and well developed. Just brilliant and could not put this down. In the same vein as Daisy Jones & the Six with a dash of complex family drama.

Thank you to NetGalley & publisher for the book.

Loved this book, it read more like a memoir than a work of fiction. Gave me Daisy jones and the 6 vibes which is one of my favourite books. The story follows 2 sisters Zoe and Cassie as they make it big in a band which all falls apart with jealously lies and death thrown in as well. The characters were very believable and really enjoyed the writing and descriptions. I will be recommending to others and looking out for more from this author. Five stars!

Cassie & Zoe ❤️

🎹Sisters born so close in age, it shocked their parents, Zoe was the slim beauty who had confidence in spaces. Younger sister Cassie was the social misfit, awkward and gawky.

🎹In a twist, Cassie’s prodigy-level musical talent was discovered at a young age, causing the balance in their family to be tilted. As young adults, Zoe is desperate for fame while Cassie would prefer to stay in the shadows.

🎹When their musical talent is discovered, their rise to fame is swift, but it also brings out the jealousy between the sisters. The fame tears through their lives, leaving chaos in its wake.

💫This is the second book of Jennifer Weiner’s I have read, and I enjoyed reading it as much as the first, That Summer. While I get the strong link to Daisy Jones, it’s mostly because of the effects of fame echoes, and not so much the era, since this story harkens back to the early 2000’s. This lovely study of sisterhood shows real life up close, warts and all. Hurting those we love, maybe beyond repair. The things we do when we are too young to properly understand the consequences.

My rating 4.5/5 - ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ 💫

Really loved this story of a fictional band whose reputation and music lives on long after their sudden split. Added to the mix is Zoe’s daughter who desperately wants to break into the music industry much to the horror of her mother. I loved the different chapters of the band and their differing perspectives and views on how the music industry treats young hopefuls. Cassie’s neuro divergence makes her all the more vulnerable. Engaging but also a timely reminder of the way fame negatively affects those young hopefuls not able to deal with it.

This book had everything! Emotion, tragedy, family relationships, music - you name it, it was in this story. A fantastic read of how the music industry used to be and how it's changed now. The family dynamics were brilliant, and each family member's emotions were sympathetically dealt with. I loved reading about how reality music shows work, and how young people are viewed in that world. The relationship between Zoe and Cassie was so detailed and made me laugh and cry especially at the end. All in all this is one of the best books I've read in a very long time - loved it!!

The Griffin Sisters’ Greatest Hits is a book I really couldn’t put down. It sucked me in almost instantly.
Cantering on a fictional band featuring two sisters, Zoe and Cassie, and their brief but indomitable rise to musical fame in the early 2000s as ‘The Griffin Sisters’. The book is fast paced and makes for addictive reading with the ups and downs of the sister’s relationships with each other and with other people.

Reading about the music industry in the 2000s was nostalgic and really enjoyable. I have no idea got accurate it all is but it felt convincing and well-researched, and I loved imagining what felt like a behind-the-scenes peek into the music industry at that time.

I really liked Cassie and it took me a while to warm up to her sister Zoe - who had many, many faults in my opinion - and also to Zoe’s daughter Cherry, who evidently meant well but came across as a bit self-centred at times. However as the book continued I found myself absorbed in their story.

There’s plenty of drama in this book but it didn’t feel too much or too over the top. There were emotional points and a lot of chapters that I just raced through.

The ending was slightly cheesier than I like to read but it just worked so well with the storyline that I didn’t mind!

I’ve never read any other books by Jessica Weiner, but I’m certainly going to now!

The Griffin Sisters’ Greatest Hits by Jennifer Weiner

Thank you NetGalley and HQ for a complimentary copy of this novel! All opinions expressed are my own. The Griffin Sisters is the stage name for Cassie and Zoe
Grossberg. Cassie is the musical prodigy with an amazing voice. Her sister Zoe is
the beautiful one who can charm the entire crowd. Cassie never felt comfortable singing in front of a crowd. So when Zoe begs her sister to sing with her locally, their lives change forever. It's the early 2000’s and they are suddenly thrust into the limelight. They get signed on by a record label, their band is formed and they go on tour for various shows, radio stations, and other venues. But just as quickly as they rose to stardom, they quickly disbanded! No one knows why. Now 20 years later, Zoe’s eldest child Cherry(a musical prodigy herself), is intent on becoming famous. So she runs away from home to join a talent competition. Cherry has questions about what happened to break up the band. She searches for her Aunt Cassie who is living off grid and hopes to get answers as to what happened. But what Cassie thinks happened and what Zoe knows really happened are two different stories. Will the sisters be able to finally put their truth out there and move on from their hurtful past?

I really enjoyed this novel! It brought back memories for me since I am an 80’s child. I loved the setting and the time period! Definitely got Daisy Jones and the Six vibes. This novel is not one to miss. 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for me!
