4 It Wasn't You; It was Them Stars * * * *

I found this on Netgalley and have to say it was a very pleasant, naughty surprise... The story could have been stretched into a full blown novel... but with the smart handling of the author...75 pages worked for me.

This is from the UK and so right away I need to shift reading gears... for the swift clipped way of how all the information was given... Within the first pages we learned our Verity had been slammed on an awful website, ratemyshag.com from her last relationship. The nasty, selfish bloke rated her 2 stars and his friends had been talking and joking around her without her understanding what it was all about. She is finally made aware and her boss, Cal, walks into the room where she is reading the posting and comments for the first time. Seeing her embarrassed and vulnerable, Cal invites her to the house party he is having. She is shocked because everyone knows what happens at his parties... people hooking up... at least that is the rumor...

Verity is in a state of shock... she is reeling from what was written about her... the cruel comments of her being just not feminine, being mannish mirror all the disappointment her mother would repeat raising her. She took after her father physically.... not the smaller beauty queen image of her mother...so hunched shoulders and hating her legs and feet were the concerns she carried through to adulthood... Latching onto the first boy at university who showed any interest was her first sexual experience... and that was a dud....and the idiot spouting all the crap on the net was just as selfish... so Verity had no understanding of the pleasure of it all... but at Cal's party... maybe she would learn....

Cal is accomplished; a beautiful body, smart and successful. He is partnered in the design and architectural firm where Verity works. He has watched her; been interested but due to her being occupied... never mentioned it. At the party, Verity stumbles into a room; as her eyes adjust to the low light, she is stunned by what she sees taking place... what has her caught like a deer in headlights makes her body react in opposing ways of her mind... and in a moment of kismet, Cal comes into the room, too...He sees her stuck watching...and longing to be as free and easy as the uninhibited people....this moment and understanding is the start of it all.

The winning elements for me were real life concerns were openly addressed ... the awkwardness of first time sex... of selfish lovers out for their release and then crass enough to think it is funny to post things on the net about the women who trusted them. Each of the characters had a stake in the outcome... and although it was short, there was a positive ending... I felt both characters did have growth and were in a better place after the book ended...

This seems to be a stand alone and would be a delightfully sexy afternoon visit.

So funny, love the story. Verity reminded me of Miranda from the BBC TV show here in the UK, tall, clumsy, feeling inadequate, useless around men Verity has it all and Cal teaches her to love herself and eventually him. An excellent read.

what a great novella! I thought Guilty Pleasure was great, but I really love Cal in The Pleasure Principle. He's honest and he makes Verity honest towards herself. This novella deals with issues that a lot of women have, but instead of resolving it quickly or merely putting it aside, O'Reilly delves into it. A great quick read!

I was thrilled to get approved for this book. Reading the summary made me think that it would be something I would enjoy and I wasn't wrong. Verity is a hysterical character. I lover her inner monologues and the fact that she can not turn off her brain. I so can relate. And while I found her relationship with Cal very predictable I loved every second of it. This was a totally enjoyable read and look forward to more from this author.

Loved this Fun, Sexy, Erotic story. Verity is a tall beautiful elegant woman who has always been put down her entire life. Her last boyfriend humiliates her by giving her two stars on a social network site called ratemyshag.com and it isn''t until she finds out that his friends are talking about her behind her back that she goes to the site and sees the post, just as one of her Bosses Cal Bailey walks into the office. Cal Bailey is gorgeous, sexy and fun which makes it even more humiliating. Cal invites Verity to one of his parties. Cal is known for his parties where anything goes and i mean anything. Verity is so self conscious of her tall statue and big feet she does not do parties usually she keeps to herself. She has had only two boyfriends in her life and since will had totally threw under the bus on that web site she just doesn't know if she can go. But she finally does and as soon as she walks in she feels like all eyes are on her so she slips into another room to get away from the crowd and is taken back by what is going on in this room and although her brain is wanting her to leave her body doesn't move. Verity is pressed against the wall trying to not draw attention when Cal enters the room and makes his way to her and that is when she cuts and escapes out of the room and his house to come face to face with Will her ex-boyfriend and as he starts to taunt her it is Cal who comes to her rescue and has Will leave. But Verity cannot go back in so Cal walks her home and although Cal could have anybody it is Verity that he wants, but will her insecurities ruin everything. Will she let her past rule her future. You need to read this story to find out if Verity will let Cal in. A Very Sexy and Erotic Story. Such a stimulating read.

O’Reilly writes such naughty little novellas and this one is no exception. A young woman, devastated by her lack of sexual prowess, learns a series of valuable lessons in the erotic when her boss teaches her that true pleasure is so much more than just sex. Humorous and titillating, readers will want a Cal of their own.

This was a fantastic quick read.....I felt sympathy for Verity.....I mean who wants to be rated a 2?? and I really liked how Cal dealt with the insecurities. The sex scenes were visual enough to satisfy, but not overly exotic....for some reason, that seemed to fit the storyline very well though. I have to admit to hoping that the ex-boyfriend would come to that last party & see something he hadn't been bargaining for....but the authors' version of the last night went better with the overall storyline. I wanted to keep reading once we got to the end of the book....so that means I liked it a lot! Great read. Highly recommended. Only complaint would be how short it was....

"The Pleasure Principle" by Jane O'Reilly

What I liked about this novel...

This author really knows how to put a story together that will keep you turning the pages till the ending this short read. Be prepared for some erotica F/F/M scenes so be aware of that. What a ugly person to have what was done to her by a ex-boyfriend telling the whole world on a website that she sucked in bed. For poor Verity who knew after going to one his his 'famous parties' her life was about to change. The character Cal was really something in trying to help Verity being very blunt and that was just what she needed. I liked how this author brings out some information of Verity's past from boyfriends, her mother and father where their had been much disappointments. What will happen after one night with Cal where she will be introduce to a little bit of it all with some free and uninhibited people. To truly understand this whole story you will have to pick up this erotic romance to see how the author will bring it all out to the reader. It was quite a read as these two people will go on a sexual journey and in the end it will be quite interesting to see what will happen between Verity and Cal in this hot romance.

Short and Erotic-novella style read Verity finds out her ex-boyfriend ousted her inadequacies on a website. He rated her so low, that he and his friends have been making fun of her to her face without her understanding that is what they have been doing. Verity found out and it hurt her tremendously. Cal, her boss happened to come into her office when she found out and invited her to one of his famous house parties –Verity accepted. Verity is this shy woman who doesn't watch porn, doesn't use sex toys, and who has never had an orgasm. Cal tries to change all that.

Cal is one sexy boss. He is smart, accomplished and has nursed a secret crush on Verity for a while but knowing she had a boyfriend, didn’t pursue. At the party, Verity comes across a sex scene that Cal watched with her. Then they started engaging in some crazy sexual chemistry and the story took a 180 turn. It really ended up being a sweet, yet really erotic, sexy , hot story. I liked Verity –her growth in the story was wonderful. I liked Cal- I think he grew too, from the guy who thew sex parties to at the end , a man who found what he was missing.
