Description

The gloriously cosy conclusion to the bestselling Tomes & Tea sapphic fantasy quartet from Sunday Times, USA Today and Indie bestselling author Rebecca Thorne. Perfect for fans of Travis Baldree and T. J. Klune.

What price would you pay for a quiet cup of tea?

All Reyna wanted was a relaxing cup of her favourite brew. She didn’t expect to be kidnapped and locked in a hidden cell, but she’ll just have to adapt. She’s faced worse before . . . hasn’t she? Yet there’s another, more worrying, problem: Reyna’s cell has been booby-trapped and now contains a mysterious alchemical circle. But what does a radical alchemist want with her? More importantly, why do they think they can get away with it?

Kianthe and Reyna’s hometown is having its own problems, too. Word of their bookshop, and its celebrity owners, has finally spread – and tourists are flooding into Tawney. As their friends struggle with the sudden influx, Kianthe and Reyna face a bigger conundrum than even rogue
alchemists and a mismanaged kidnapping. Could closing their beloved business be the only way to save their town?

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me access to an advanced digital copy of this absolute marvel of a story.
It was the perfect conclusion to this story and I will miss Kianthe, Reyna and all their friends. It was once again a cosy story with an intriguing mystery on the side and pages upon pages of queer joy. This series became my comfort series and I will come back to it in the future.
I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a relaxing story with dragons, puns and a found family.

The forth and final instalment of the Tomes and Tea series, and I am not ready for it to be over.

Picking up where the third book left us, we dive straight into the action. This book has it all, cosiness, action, peril, dragons, magic, twists, sadness, joy, love, tea and puns. What more could you ask for?

I have loved the journey with Kianthe and Reyna, and will miss them massively. My hope is that maybe we get a new series of books focusing on some of the other characters. Maybe Serina and Bobbie, possibly Dreggs? *crosses fingers*

I don’t want to talk about the plot of this book for fear of giving something away, but if you have read the previous three, you know what to expect from Rebecca Thorne, and you will not be disappointed.

A definitely 5 Star read.

Thank you so much to Pan MacMillan and Rebecca Thorne for inviting me to read and review this book, I am very grateful.

This is the conclusion of the Tomes and Tea series and it's another good story with plenty of tea and giggles but some darker bits too.
The epilogue gives us an update on Serina and Bobbie so I'm hopeful as Tomes and Tea ends, we'll get a book or two about pirates turned council members and constables turned diarns and all the chaos that may entail.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley. The words of this review are my own without input from anyone.

my absolute favourite cozy fantasy series 😭🫶🏼

I can’t believe it’s come to an end, I adore every single character, the relationships they have that have blossomed throughout the series. That includes the dragons and griffons too! The magic systems are incredible and it’s such an enticing series.

I really hope this isn’t the end of their story, a spin off series about Dreggs, Bobbie and Serina is absolutely needed I need more books to complete every story!

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC copy of this book. I already had this preorder and I can’t wait to complete my collection!

“Arcandor. Stealing more of my books?”
“Why is this suddenly such a problem?” Kianthe demanded.
- I love Kianthe , she is who I want to be when I grow up ! ( yes a book thief 🤫)
- This was a really great ending to a series and although it makes me sad that it’s over I really had a great time reading this last instalment. ( I am hoping for a little spin off book ….. )
-My favourite part obviously was all the dragon and griffin chaos !
-These books are the perfect mix of fantasy and cosy, some parts just warm your heart and it’s like getting a hug but there’s also enough chaos & humour to keep you invested it’s why Iv never stopped telling everyone I know to pick these up !

- thank you Panmac for this arc & Rebecca Thorne for giving us Kianthe & Reynas story

I am not ready for this series to be over!

This was a great finish to a great series. I will never get sick of following Key and Rain and the folks of Tawney. After the cliffhanger at the end of the last book we open straight away where we left off and straight into the action. I loved the expansion of Alchemy and dragon magic and the introduction of new characters in the realm.

I can't think of what else to say without spoiling any previous books but I'm telling you, everyone needs to read these books!

What a magical end to a series filled with mythical creatures, love in many forms, pirates and some excellent tea served up by an amazing couple I will greatly miss.

The ‘Tomes and Tea’ series has become one of my favourite sapphic romance series I have read in years. Rebecca Thorne has thrown everything she has into giving the reader stories that keep you entranced, enamoured and in dire need for them to never end. Yet, here we are with Alchemy and a Cup of Tea being the fourth and final book and once more, I only put it down when I had no choice in the matter.

With the changes we were given in Tea You at the Altar, life is suddenly just the same and yet dramatically different for Kianthe and Reyna as they attempt to go on with their lives at New Leaf Tomes and Tea but as always for this wonderful duo, trouble isn't too far away.

This time, we had the return of dragons and I was so happy because there's always something so wonderful about the mythical beasts of legend and lore. Not only that but as the title suggests - there's a magic deemed often more sinister in origin coming out to play in Alchemy. The author has given us a finale that will have the reader on the edge of their seat because there's trouble on the horizon for old faces and new ones. (I'd just like to hug the little or not-so-little dragons in this book though…)

Once again, the immersive world-building is there from the first to last page of the story ensuring the reader is drawn deeply into the goings-on of The Realm as a whole but especially the Queendom and nearby Dragon Country. You can practically smell the various teas that are brewed in New Leaf, feel the heat from the Smithy or the chill of the wind as dragons or perhaps Griffin fly overhead and I love it. There's nothing like a fantasy book that is so immersive that you're walking alongside the characters you encounter.

Expect great villainy, and moments of panic and sorrow and uncertainty along the way. This is a book where you're going to maybe want that snack you said no to initially but now your eyes are wide with shock and you're wondering ‘what next’ in the twists and turns along the way. But it's also one that shows you never give up, to be strong and to trust in others even in this case, dragons…

Everything about Alchemy and a Cup of Tea was so well done, bringing the story and series to an end in such a smooth manner had me sad for it to end but so glad I had got to witness this devoted duo come together from first curious glance to glimpses into their future beyond the final chapter of the book. I love how even after their time together, they still falter as do others in their decisions and views, showing they're not infallible even when carrying great responsibilities. Rebecca Thorne made them magical, and of course a little mythical too but mainly human in their choices and decisions right to the end.

I'm going to miss these characters so much, but I will enjoy starting their journey all over again one day.

5⭐️ Alchemy and a cup of tea is the final instalment of Rebecca Thorne’s cosy sapphic fantasy where we get to spend four books with the punny Kianthe, THE elemental Mage and Reyna, a fierce Queensguard.

Their relationship, at the centre of the story, is loving, romantic, respectful, loyal with the biggest touch-her-and-die vibes from both of these powerful women. I was so heartened to see that this beautiful relationship remained this way for the whole series.

Alchemy and a cup of tea was a higher stake read than the first three books, which all definitely had stakes. I appreciated that threaded throughout the action were many cosy moments which lead to the happy ending that we all enjoy in our cosy reads. Rebecca Thorne is the master of a balanced Cosy Fantasy!

One aspect that I truly adored, was that we were still being introduced to new elements within this world, even though it was the final book. Learning more about the dragons, the magic and the alchemy was a wonderful, surprising aspect.

I’m happy to say that this was the perfect ending to a wonderful series, and one that I will spend many years re-reading to spend more time with two of my favourite characters ever.

The moment this landed in my inbox my entire TBR got ignored - and I have no regrets!

With every book in this series I decide it's my favourite one, and at this point I'm not sure if they actually continue to get better or if they're all just better than I remember by the time I get my grubby little hands on the next one.
This book starts exactly where book 3 ended: Reyna has just been kidnapped and is predictably unimpressed by her kidnappers. Things don't calm down from there, the entire book was a chaotic joy to read. There's alchemists, tourists and more dragons than ever (though, sadly, the number of lesbians is no longer increasing). The stakes are even high and while the tone is cosy, the main plot isn't so much. Not that it bothered me at any point.

Completely as expected, this book is a few hundred pages of chaotic queer joy and I'm here for every second of it. Though a Dastardly Pirate Dreggs Spin-off does seem necessary after that ending. I'm just saying...

Many thanks to Pan Macmillan for sharing an eARC of this via Netgalley!

an end to an era, rebecca has captured my heart with her Tomes and Tea series.
this will be a series i see myself rereading throughout the years.

a kidnapping and a not so easy rescue, Reyna and Kianthe find themselves on a new adventure filled with sweet moments , angst , witt , Dragons and Gryphons.
Rebecca has once again done it with writing a story so immersive you have to check your surroundings to see where you are.
an ending that leaves an opening for us to return to the world of Tomes and Tea.

A beautiful cosy read to end the series, even if there are still a few evil author moments (why must they torment their characters so?!). Familiar characters, a trip to see the Magicary and more dragons…stunning. Excellent teasers at the end just to keep you wondering if there will be more. Off to make a cup of tea!

5 Stars – Charming, Clever, and Full of Heart
I expected nothing less after thoroughly enjoying the previous books in the Tombes and Tea Quartlet!
This story is a delightful blend of cozy fantasy and high-stakes intrigue, with a sovereign who just wants tea, a magical kidnapping, and a town overwhelmed by fame. Reyna is a wonderfully grounded and wry protagonist, and her relationship with Kianthe adds warmth and emotional depth to the fast-paced adventure. The alchemy plot is mysterious and inventive, while the tension between personal duty and public chaos is handled with real nuance. It’s whimsical, thoughtful, and packed with charm—perfect for fans of found family, magical politics, and books that feel like a warm hug with a sharp edge.

A spectacular ending to a fantastic series. This is cosy fantasy storytelling at its finest, and I’m so sad that it’s over.

Kianthe and Reyna are struggling to keep their lives small and uncomplicated, especially after all they’ve been through. We have a magical mystery, with a rogue magic user causing chaos. There’s more dragon shenanigans and the realm is discovering tourism.

If you haven’t already, please read book one and embark on a wonderful adventure.

What am I supposed to do now!?!?!?!

Alchemy and a Cup of Tea brings to an end the delightfully cosy magical fantasy of the Tomes and Tea Series and I’m truly stumped as to where I’m going to turn to now for my absolute hug, cup of tea and accompanying comfort biscuit of a book! This series has delivered so much, that I truly can’t put it all into words – from love across the spectrum in all it’s wonderful forms, to magic, mystery, pirates, amazing cups of tea and coffee and some downright dastardly game playing! What am I going to do?

From the very first book in the series – Can’t Spell Treason Without Tea, I have totally adored the gorgeously sapphic romance that has developed and endured between Kianthe and Reyna. Their growth and arc has been both incredible but, also relatable as they have learned to navigate the twists and turns of their relationship, finding the right stepping stones to keep them on course throughout, and this is despite all the adventures, challenges and villains they’ve had to face, in addition to establishing and developing their own relationship!

Alchemy and a Cup of Tea picks up directly following the cliffhanger ending of Tea You at the Altar, with Kianthe and Reyna not only facing the first and what is often the hardest year of married life but, also learning on the hoof how to manage their own roles and all the accompanying responsibilities and consequences on them and their hometown.

Of course Alchemy had to bring with it more of those wonderful baby dragons and a few of the bigger ones too, in addition to obviously Alchemy, which has always been deemed to be a little dark and sinister…providing the tension and build up to a dramatic conclusion to the series, with a few little side quests on the way, including how to deal with the overwhelming number of tourists surging into their adopted hometown!

Rebecca Thorne proves once again that she is a captivating story teller, pulling you into her immersive world-building, character and relationship development. I could imagine myself in Tomes and Tea ordering a coffee before pondering the bookshelves for my next purchase…Yes, I know, it should be tea and maybe I could be persuaded! I absolutely adored and was immersed in all the goings on from Dragon Country to the remote parts of the Queendom, as they develop their own solutions to tourism!
From joy to sorrow and back again, Rebecca Thorne has created a truly immersive world filled with adventure, panic, love and true sapphic romance that has had me hooked from start to end of the Tea and Tomes Series, and I can truly say that Alchemy and a Cup of Tea is the perfect way to conclude the series, even if I am still devastated that it’s over!
Thank you so much Pan Macmillan, Tor & Netgalley for the arc in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Alchemy and a Cup of Tea is the fourth and final book in the Tomes & Tea series by Rebecca Thorne. I adore this series so much. It is the perfect combination of coziness, action, and humor. I pretty much say the same thing about all books in this series but the clever puns in the titles always make me chuckle. The story starts where the third book ended and throws the reader into the action. I love Reyna and Kianthe so much as main characters and their dynamic is so much fun to read. If you like cosy action packed sapphic books this is the perfect time to pick this series. Also, did I mention dragons? I'm sad to say goodbye to these characters, but I can't wait to read Rebecca Thorne's next book. Thanks to Netgalley and Pan Macmillan for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The final book of the Tomes and Tea series was a perfect ending for the series. The characters are relatable and interesting, they change and grow throughout the story and minor characters stand out without taking away focus from the main characters. The settings are beautiful, you can almost feel the magic through the pages. The adventures Reyna, Kianthe and their friends experience are thrilling and have just the right amount of mysteriousness to them. Overall, it was a lovely book and I’m quite sad there won’t be another one.

'Alchemy and a Cup of Tea' is the fourth and final volume of the Tea and Tomes series, and is probably my favourite of all the books.

As always promised, we get cosy happiness with Reyna and Kianthe, and no threat to their relationship. There are, of course, enough external threats to keep the book fun. Something is wrong with the Stone of Seeing, someone is doing mysterious alchemy, and their small town of Tawnee has been overrun by tourists wanting see the queen and the Arcandor - to the point where Reyna and Kianthe are considering closing the bookshop.

In solving the various problems we get a fun glimpse into Kianthe's life at the magical academy, and the politics inside. We also get to spend more time with the dragons, where Reyna's special ability to talk to them means she is not outshone by her wife.

This isn't the right book to start the series with, but if you're already a fan then you should enjoy this charming final installment. It feels better-paced than the previous books, and is a little more restrained with the number of characters it throws at the reader. It's still strictly escapist fantasy, but it doesn't pretend otherwise.

4.5 stars rounded up

Ahh I can’t believe this is the final instalment of what has been such a wonderful, delightful cosy story following the Arcandor Kianthe and her wife, Queen Reyna. This was a perfect ending, with an ode to the characters I’ve come to love throughout this series. I am very sad that this is the end of their story, but what a beautiful way to end it.

Book three in the Tea and Tomes series ended in a cliffhanger with Queen Reyna kidnapped by unknown bandits. This cliffhanger was quickly resolved in the first few pages, and to be honest I wouldn’t have expected any less from Reyna to be able to get herself out of her own kidnapping, I was quickly immersed back into the story and eager to see what quest they would go on next and what mishaps would befall them along the way.

I was incredibly happy that this book once again focused on the dragons, and not just the babies that were in the third book. This gave the story a full circle feeling from the first book to the last with the loose ends of the final missing dragon egg and how dragon magic works in relation to mages and alchemists playing a big part of the storyline. I will always love dragons in fantasy story and I adore the way that they have been portrayed through this series.

There were several hairy moments which makes this cosy fantasy less of a low stake story than other similar cosy fantasies. The investigation into the alchemy magic added drama, and the usual suspense that I’ve come to expect with this series. Both Kianthe and Reyna risk their lives once again in this book and there were a few moments that I feared for their safety as well as the beloved dragons and griffins.

The heart of these books has always been the relationship between Kianthe and Reyna, and this book is no exception. Both separately and together they have gone through significant character development and this was explored through there deep feelings and trust for one another. They are now in a point in their lives where they know what each other needs and this gave some very heartfelt touching moments. I found my heart breaking with them during the scenes of deciding they would need to close the bookstore and leave the beloved town that they started their new lives together in. Kudos to Rebecca Thorne for the very heartfelt dialogue and emotional setting, I really though they were going to leave the town behind.

Alchemy and a Cup of Tea whilst exciting and suspenseful still had its quirky and humorous moments, though I did notice that Kianthe in particular was less ‘punny’ than in previous books. I had very much enjoyed this element of humour throughout the books and did miss it in this one. Whilst it fitted with the emotions and turmoil that the characters were going through I think it could have had just a few more puns to lighten the mood. Don’t get me wrong, they are there but just noticeably less than previously.

Whilst we got to see the majority of the side characters in this book, some were only mentioned off page. Bobbi and Serena were once again missing from the main story, they make an appearance in the 10 years later epilogue (and the bonus chapter) but are distinctly missing from this book. I’m not sure how they could have featured more whilst maintaining a flowing storyline but they were missed. The added chapter was a real bonus and gave an insight into their lives that had been going on off page.

I have quite simply adored this story and these characters and these books will remain as some of my favourite cosy fantasies.

I would read 100 of these books if Rebecca Thorne feels up for writing them. They're just such a delight to read, a joyous funny dive into adventures and misadventures, always anchored by the strength of the relationship between Kianthe and Reyna. In this installment there are mages causing issues, the teething problems of being a monarch who just wants to run a bookshop, and of course, the worst thing of all, tourists. as with all books in this series, I absolutely loved it and will definitely be reading the whole series again as a regular comfort read.

Plus there's a baby dragon in this one. I'd have loved it just for that.

The book opens with Reyna, who has been acting as Queen for several months at this point, being kidnapped. When Kianthe finds out she is naturally in a panic and immediately flies to the rescue but Reyna being Reyna doesn't entirely need rescuing and as a matter of fact she's also discovered the work of a rogue alchemist.

In the meantime tourists are invading Tawney and the pair are struggling with the fact that they may have to close their shop to save the town.

Along the way we solve the mystery of the missing dragon egg and Serena is trying to plan her proposal to Bonnie.

This was the fourth and final book in the Tomes and Tea quartet and I am so sad that it's over 😭 I love these books, the characters, the way they're written all just get me. I definitely plan to read anything else the author writes!

Alchemy and a Cup of Tea is a fantastic conclusion to the series, offering even more of what we've have come to adore: beloved characters, dragons, and, of course, plenty of puns. This final instalment ties up lingering plot threads in a way that feels both satisfying and true to the heart of the story.

Picking up immediately after the previous book, the story jumps straight into the action. Without giving too much away for those who haven’t caught up, Reyna and Kianthe must once again join forces to solve one last mystery, one with potentially world-altering consequences if left unsolved.

Like the earlier books, this entry strikes a wonderful balance between cosy charm, exciting stakes, and witty humour. I’ve grown so attached to these characters and the found family they've built together. While it's bittersweet to say goodbye to this world, I’m incredibly grateful for the journey, and I can’t wait to see what Rebecca Thorne writes next.

This series quickly became a new favourite last year and I'm so grateful to have received an early copy to read and review. I absolutely loved seeing this whole story wrap up, even if it's bittersweet knowing the series is over. With Kidnappings, even more baby dragon action and an intriguing, magic based mystery to solve; Alchemy And A Cup of Tea was a wonderfully satisfying conclusion to what has been one of my fave cosy fantasy series!

Picking up not long after the events of Tea You At The Alter, we follow our fave book and tea shop owners, Reyna and Kianthe, as they navigate new challenges (and a very chaotic schedule) as Tawney becomes flooded with tourists.

But things get more complicated when strange sigils start to crop up, which may pose a threat to the peace Reyna and Kianthe have fought soo hard to achieve…

I’ve enjoyed every instalment of this series so far, so it should come as no surprise that I loved its conclusion.

Though slightly more high stakes than previous instalments, our endearing cast of characters were still as pun loving, in depth and charming as ever. Whether it was overcoming personal flaws or just being (humorously) relatable— I loved them all.

And nowhere is this most evident than in Reyna and Kianthe, who we’ve seen grow soo much over the series. Experiencing every milestone alongside them, and cheering on the found family-esque community they’ve lovingly nurtured. This has been such an immersively heartwarming experience.

I won’t lie, it’s a little bittersweet seeing this series end. But I’m happy it ends on a rather positive note that ties up loose ends (and finally reveals what happened to that third dragon egg.)

Overall, a fabulous conclusion to a cosy, adventurous (and humour-filled) series that has me excited to see what other badass adventures Rebecca Thorne will think up. I have my fingers crossed for a Serena & Bonnie, or Dastardly Pirate Dreggs spin off.

Also, thanks to Netgalley & Pan Macmillan/ Tor UK for e-arc.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book after expressing my love of this series.

I am so sad that Kianthe’s and Reyna’s story is over but at the same time I am so darn happy with their ending.

We pick right up after the ending of the last book and we are reminded of just how smart Reyna is and I loved her so much for this entire scene and the way she can disarm people with not just her fighting skills but her charm too.

This book definitely isn’t as cosy as the others so bear that in mind, but I still loved it and felt like considering the themes and the element of limited time it was perfect for this book. The stakes are even higher in this book with troubles coming from everywhere.

This book had me emotional at times especially when we see both Reyna and Kianthe come to terms with their the threat of Tawney potentially meaning that they would have to shut the one thing that gave them a chance at living together, whilst leaving all the people they have brought into their family.

I loved meeting new characters as well as the returning ones that we all know and love. We even got to go to new places and explore further into dragon county which I loved so much.

Ever since I stumbled upon the first instalment of this series, I have been utterly enthralled by Reyna and Kianthe's adventures - and now, in their fourth book, I'm not ready to say goodbye. The entire novel was a fond farewell to Tawney and the Queendom at large, but the tone does not take away from the powerful story at its heart. No other novel in the series had me flying through to the end, heart in my throat and utterly invested in how this was all going to end.

A delightful end to a delightful series. This felt like it had it all coziness, magic, mythical creatures and of course sapphic love...I could go on and on!
We jump straight back into the action where book three left us on a cliffhanger and everything gets wrapped up nicely by the end.
I don’t want to say too much more in case of spoilers!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the eARC!

'Alchemy and a Cup of Tea' by Rebecca Thorne.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ a perfect cozy fantasy. This series is beautiful to read. I love Reyna and Kianthe. The book is full of dragons, magic and cups of tea. Perfect. If you love a gentle fantasy book then give this series a read.
Our beloved book and tea sellers Reyna and Kianthe must juggle the demands of the Queendom with a ravening influx of . . . tourists?!
All Reyna wanted was a relaxing cup of tea. She didn’t expect to be kidnapped and dropped in a hidden cell, but never mind – she can adapt. But there’s a problem: an alchemy circle marred Reyna’s cell. What does a radical group of alchemists want with the Queendom’s newest sovereign, and why did they think they could get away with it?
To make matters worse, Kianthe and Reyna’s hometown is having its own problems. Word of their bookshop – and its celebrity owners – has finally spread, and tourists are flooding into Tawney. As their friends struggle with the sudden influx, Kianthe and Reyna face a bigger conundrum than rogue alchemists: the fact that closing their business might be the only way to save their town.
Thanks to NetGallery UK, the author and the publishers for letting me read a copy in return for an honest review.

I would like to thank the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read and honestly review an advanced reader’s copy of this book.

What a fantastic ending for this world. I really loved Key and Rayna, and they will stay with me for a while. I think this last book closed their story perfectly, and I will definitively be revisiting this world for re-reads often.

Oh, how I loved this series. We've reached the end and, for that, I am immensely sad. Having said that, I truly feel we got the ending we deserved. This one constantly tugged at my heartstrings and made me wonder whether I was going to seriously dislike Rebecca by the end of it - however, instead, she cemented herself as a favourite author.
Whilst this series is totally a cosy fantasy, the stakes are much higher which gave a great contrast and some serious grit. I'm so sad its over but I'm so happy I found New Leaf Tomes and Tea <3
