Description
Pursuit at Point of Release
Rafe Fitz-Stephens lives a charmed life: good friends, loving family, academic success, and exclusive membership in the Vitruvian Society, a gentleman's sporting club. When the annual village competition calls him home from London, he's ready for a hero's welcome--after all, there is no one better to win the games than a well-trained Corinthian. If only his training had included how to avoid tripping into a leg-shackle.
Genevieve Slade dreams of a stable home with a stable gentleman, stable friends, and, perhaps, a stable. Her friend, however wealthy, moves his family from manor to manor, living as veritable gypsies to escape that horrifying word no one in the Slade household dares utter: responsibility. As she settles into yet another new home in yet another new village, both dreams and disposition are shaken when a madcap stranger tumbles, literally, through her bedchamber window.
Join Rafe and Genevieve as these enemies-of-circumstance race to break the betrothal before either stumbles headlong in love with the other.

Poor Rafe! Who's the young lady he caught in his bedroom and who screamed when she saw him?
LOL As usual for a Paullett Golden romance, the novel is as witty and comedy-filled as you may hope. This might be why Golden is one of my favorite authors for the romance genre.
So, back to Rafe's misadventures. He's told he "compromised" her - the novel is set in the 19th century after all - and that he has to marry her, but fortunately she has other plans... right?
You know, I might just stick to this new series while I work my (slow) way to reading more of The Enchantresses series.
Happy reading to anyone who chooses this book for good company.

This first book in The Corinthians series was a sweet and captivating historical romance. The humor, wit, cheeky surprises, and twists were very entertaining. I enjoyed the delightful characters and the lovely ending. I highly recommend reading!

What a fun and witty read! Along with my beloved arranged marriage trope, i absolutely adored the banter between Genevieve and Rafe. This was a clean regency romance with all the pining and miscommunication one looks for in these books. Throw in some relay races, meddlesome families, and secret reading rooms and you have a light, funny, and sweet love story. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this!
