You know what they say about mixing business with pleasure …

When the breakdown of her marriage leaves Sadie Turner a single mum, she vows that she will make it on her own. After all, why would a smart businesswoman with a PhD and the prospect of a life-changing deal on the horizon need a man?

But Sadie’s man-ban is tested to the limit when she travels to Monaco to meet her potential investor. There she encounters Mac, a rough and ready playboy billionaire who lives life in the fast lane – and that’s when the real adventure starts!

But Sadie’s heart isn’t the only thing on the line. There’s also the business she’s worked so hard to make a success; the business that could so easily slip out of her grasp if she doesn’t seal the deal within thirty days …

Take a Chance on Me (Choc Lit), Debbie Flint Genre: Romance, Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews This had all the elements I look for in a fun romance but...somehow although it was a well written book, it just didn’t really work for me. I just felt everything seemed a little off, a bit flat and monotone, when I was expecting glorious colour. Still, that’s just my view remember. I loved how it started, but then it just seemed somehow all a bit of a jumble, with plots getting overcomplicated and poor Sadie just being strung along, not really understanding what was happening. Given her strong business ethic that seemed wrong to me, that she’d let herself be side-lined like that. ( Though I’m not sure what she could have done). I found it a little hard to believe that a company on the edge of making it big, but needing financial investors, would let all hinge on her, someone they didn’t know, someone they’d no idea could deliver what she promised, someone with no background in that area, who’d met them almost by accident, especially given the tight financial deadline....Would they really just leave her to save the business, or have been all out themselves for finding finance? She was risking her family’s future on it all too...though TBH the family seemed a very distant thing, we only met them via phone calls really, and she seemed to be able to separate them easily from her business life, when most parents will know – kids affect everything in your life, and don’t stay back til needed!
When it came to Mac holding a grudge against Sadie for not telling all at their first meeting – well, he needed to look at himself too if he was casting blame. I could see that sexually there was a hot connection between them but more? I didn’t feel it the way I needed to. Alexis was a good addition - I love that sort of character and she felt very real. Its not a bad book, I’m sure for many it will be a great one, its just that for me this was just OK, a middle of the road read, not one to mentally rehash and remember.

Stars: Three, an OK read ARC provided by Netgalley and publishers

Loved this book! Quick witted and full of funny banter back and forth, especially between Ms. Sadie Samantha and Mac. This is a quick read and I really didn't want to put it down. I enjoyed the story behind each of the main characters and then the developing of their story. It was really easy to get caught up in this book and the people in it just waiting to see what would happen. A sweet love story with just as sweet and loving supporting characters. A twist you don't see coming, an exciting conclusion and through it all you find yourself rooting for not only these two but the men who had a hand in putting them together. This is for sure a book I will recommend, as well as its author.

Wonderfully romantic and superbly written, 'Take a Chance on Me' is the perfect sexy and heart-felt novel to while away an evening with.

Straight away I connected with Sadie. She was fun and cheeky but professional, making sure that nothing would come in the way of her making the best for herself and her two daughters. She was a hugely original heroine, and she felt very real and human. Her motives, hopes and dreams were all understandable, and I think Sadie's story will resonate with a lot of female readers.

Mac was just pure indulgence on a boat. I loved seeing the innocent in love side to him at the beginning of the story and to witness his change into a businessman with rules alongside Sadie, and getting the added insight of what was going through Mac's mind, and how he was really coping with the predicament he found himself in, was so great. I loved his development throughout the course of the novel, and I fell for his bad-boy businessman self knowing the sweetheart that was beneath it.

The way the business side of the story developed was brilliant. I am quite possibly the most inept business minded person in the world, but the way that Debbie Flint managed to mix the business deals and terms in the story, keeping them realistic and easily understandable to me as a reader, shows what a talent is.

A delightful book to read, and I hope to see more from Debbie Flint in the future!

Sadie "Sam" is really excited about the beverage that can get her back in the positive and away from bankruptcy and debt towards her mother. She isn't sure quite how she will pull it off but she believes in herself. She has a lot to be grateful for. Her two children are always keeping her busy although their dad isn't paying much attention to them because of his busy life. He hasn't learned how to share his time yet.

Mac sees a woman he has a hard time not admiring on so many levels. He gets confused as to why she is around the boat he is working on and grows more interested in what makes her tick. He won't let her in on his most private secrets and can play himself down or up a little, just to see what she's made of.

Things get very complicated as Sadie decides to dine and wine with her new boat mate instead of brushing up on her presentation before the big meeting the next morning. If she only knew what was on the table the next day, she would have done a few things differently.

Mac has a policy and he's sticking to it. He isn't sure what will happen with his next business move but he knows he has to act fast. What will happen to Mr. Anderson and Ms. Sadie "Sam"? This book will have you in stitches and holding you in place until the end. I hope a sequel is in store. It was that good! It gets 5 stars and is an awesome read!

Take a Chance on Me is an excellent contemporary romance story. Max and Sadie from their first encounter instantly have a strong emotional connection. The characters are perfectly rendered, delightful sensual scenes. A beautiful story of romance entwined in with an interesting tale of new beginnings and sometimes second chances. It was fast paced, suspenseful and the storyline connected with the characters perfectly from beginning to the end of novel. New and fresh with a magnificent ending. No cliffhanger. Well-developed, appealing plot and impressively written. A marvelous heartfelt novel.

I was browsing Netgalley one day, and saw that the publisher Choc Lit had finally joined, so decided to see what they had to offer. One title up for grabs was a novel by Debbie Flint, someone I know better as presenter on the shopping channel QVC. I didn't know she had written books, so after a brief flit to Amazon to see the general consensus on her books, it seemed positive so I just had to request it. I didn't realise at the time it was part of the 'Hot Choc Lit' range - books a little bit saucier than normal but not enough to be classified erotica. Either way, I began the story and thoroughly enjoyed it!

As the synopsis is at the top of the post, I won't bore you with another retelling. First of all, I want to mention that this has previously been published as an eBook under the title Hawaiian Affair, but has been edited and re-released by Choc Lit. This is the version I am therefore reviewing, and I can't comment on any differences between this and the original. I want to quickly mention the cover too - it's very striking, with the muted colours of the main picture contrasted with the bright red of the title streaked across the middle. It's very eye-catching and suits the book really well I feel. I'm glad publishers realise the importance of book covers for eBook too - it can mean the difference between me reading one or passing it by - I'm not ashamed to say I do judge books by covers!

The leading lady of this book is called Sadie Turner - she's a clever girl with a PhD, runs her own business, she's a single mum of 2 daughters, and has travelled a long way to get a new investment in her business - and only has one chance to get it right. I really liked Sadie straight away. She was very hard-working, determined not to be thrown off by the small odds of her actually getting the investment she needs. She's hot-headed, can hold her own in a boardroom full of men, but can't resist the handsome deck hand she meets on a boat called Mac. You could see why she fell for him straight away - he seemed handsome, happy and kind, it's not surprising she decided to have some fun while on holiday in Monaco!

Mac was indeed the perfect leading man for the story, but all was not as it seems! While Mac turned out to be someone quite different than what Sadie had originally thought, perhaps she wasn't as truthful as she might have thought too. I loved the relationship between the pair, from the beginning when they were chatting as friends on the dock, even to things hotting up between them as they get to know each other better. Some of these scenes really are steamy, but are very well written. It doesn't feel like it's being smutty or trying to get attention, it's simply part of the story and is quite fun to read! Debbie Flint does really well handling these scenes, and I thought it was a good reflection of her writing too that these scenes were enjoyable to read.

The book felt quite long as I was reading, but it didn't drag at all which was good. It moved from Monaco in the first part of the book, and eventually to the beautiful island of Hawaii, my dream holiday destination! Although most of the book is taken up with the business deal and things going on between Sadie and Mac, we do get to see a bit of the island and it sounds every bit as beautiful as I imagine it to! I enjoyed how it flitted between the professional business persona of Sadie, and the frustrated and besotted single mum who just wants to find some happiness with ease, there was always some drama and emotion in this book! I didn't get some of the science part of the book to do with the product Sadie was selling, but it didn't spoil my enjoyment of the book, I sort of skimmed those parts without feeling like I was missing out too much!

It was a very enjoyable read from start to finish, had me involved the whole way through, and Debbie Flint's writing was fantastic - really drawing me into the story and making me want to keep reading from start to finish. I hope I'll be reading more from Debbie Flint - this was a great book!

I really liked the story line in this book. It's a story where both the male and female characters work hard to change the course of their own lives, despite their circumstances.

Sadie is a single mom who is trying to make a better life for herself and her two daughters, and despite the odds is keeping afloat with the amazing support of her mom. This book is definitely rated, i.e. 18+ so not for the kiddos.
