Description
Buenos Aires 1976: Seven-year-old Isabel Hartley wakes to find her mother gone. Her father doesn’t know why or where to and his own search for her had led to nowhere. Could she have been a victim of the Argentinean dictatorship? He doesn’t know but takes Isabel back to his native Scotland to keep her safe.
London, 2001: Now in her thirties, Isabel Hartley knows she’ll be forever haunted by her mother’s disappearance unless she goes to Buenos Aires to find her. She quits her job as a top lawyer and connects with a handsome local detective, recently widowed and fighting his own demons. As Buenos Aires descends into political and economic chaos, their search reveals little but their feelings for each other. But secrets don’t stay hidden for long. And as Isabel continues her relentless search, she comes face to face with her childhood trauma as a heartbreaking discovery shatters her identity and gives her renewed hope for love and the future.
A Note From the Publisher2>
Adelina lives in the UK with her family after years of living and working abroad. Her love for travel and writing started whilst backpacking around South America in her twenties, when blogging was just taking off. She still looks longingly at her backpack, dance shoes and her notepad but these days, sticks to writing stories about characters who find themselves in difficult situations and the contexts that create them.
