Description
What if reading a romance novel could help you get rich?
Meeting Mr. Brown will change the way you look at millionaires forever.
"Affair to Remember" reimagined as a modern romance novel with some very real wealth building tips.
Bart Brown has grown up in the quiet house on Lake Geneva. When his father dies, he makes a second’s decision to accept a temporary job in the loudest place he can imagine, New York City. He loves women, he just doesn’t believe in torturing them by marrying them. Women are for sex, men for friendships and business. Until he meets Celeste on his flight to New York.
Celeste Brown is returning home to her husband of five years, trying to convince herself that a dead-end relationship is better than nothing. As a result of a last name mix-up, she ends up sitting next to Mr. Brown who’s coincidentally everything she wished her Mr. Brown was. They finish each other’s sentences. Exclaim the same phrases at the same time. Love to do the same things, often losing track of time.
And as of Monday, they also share a wall separating their offices in the hedge fund that Mr. Brown is joining for the next six months. From now on, every event might mistakenly include them as Mr. and Mrs. Brown… But what if Mrs. Brown starts enjoying it? And what if Mr. Brown ends up falling for his new Mrs. Brown?
Sometimes love starts with a series of coincidences...
This novel is pure fiction, but the wealth building tips discussed in its storyline are very real and based on over 150 nonfiction books that will let you in on the most valuable secrets millionaires use to supercharge their success.
A Note From the Publisher
In 2020, when my daughter was born with some developmental challenges and we were living in very poor conditions, I decided to read what the rich people read for one year. I wanted to see if that would somehow give me the necessary tools to propel our family out of our financial misery.
I went through billionaire book recommendation lists and millionaire reading lists. And then skimmed through all the books mentioned in those books. I even read many other books by the same authors on these lists.
It took three years and over 150 books, but my life changed irrevocably.
I am not a millionaire…yet! But I know what the wealthiest 1% knows, and I am on the right path to get there. For now, I am grateful to be able to fulfill all my dreams, and that my daughter is growing up healthy and happy.
Today, I wish to share these financial independence tips with you.
Imagine if reading a love story could help you become more successful in your own life.
This book can do that for you!
Since it’s a well-known fact that the most effective way to learn is through an engaging story, I wanted to create a subgenre of romance that would empower success driven romance readers with useful information for their own wealth building.
MEETING Mr. BROWN is the first romance novel that doubles as a self-help success guide.
Think of it as a superpower for a modern woman – you can have fun and at the same time work towards fulfilling all your dreams as well.

This book is such a interesting mix of romance, surprises, happenstances, business, a little economics, and some life lessons thrown in there. It's an "Affair to Remember" retelling and was a refreshing read!
Ever feel like universe is pushing towards certain situations or certain people?
Celeste is flying home to her husband and life in NY when she picks up a stranger’s coffee instead of her own. You see Brown and Celeste share the same surname. And by a slew of coincidences they find themselves constantly thrust together.
The beautiful Celeste and the handsome Brown strike up a unique friendship that helps them both grow in ways neither of them even realised they desperately needed.
When I started this book I thought it was going to be very different than it turned out to be and I say this in the best possible way. I am not an insta-love fan, I like my relationships to grow and build over the duration of a story and initially that’s not how you expect this story to play out. Celeste and Brown have an undeniable instant connection, but unfortunately for Brown she’s someone else’s wife.
I don’t want to say too much more about the story as there are a lot of twists and turns as I plays out. But I wanted highlight some of my favourite things while reading this story;
- Julie writes this underlying mystery about who is Brown really and who was his father. I was so invested in that side of the story and it married so well to Celeste’s self rediscovery that the romance was more a complimentary factor than the whole focus. Which I as a reader endlessly appreciate.
- the characters are all intriguing and well built up. I mean I feel I could imagine sitting for a game of chess in the park with Wilson, sharing a scotch with Jack in the office or even sneaking away for beer and chocolates with Bea, Chris and Junior. Do I potentially have a crush on a 70 year old male character? Maybe? Don’t judge me!
- New York and Central Park themselves become characters in this story, breathing so much life throughout every page.
- nice addition of the self help advice, particularly because it just read as so natural for Brown to be imparting the advice to Celeste that it never felt silted or out of place. I’ve read a self help book now! Whoop!
Bring on the next one. I really hope we hear about Wilson’s story in more depth one day! ♥️
It’s a nice mild one chili read and a solid 5 starts from me!

What a lovely debut romance! Celeste, at 29 is in a marriage to a Mr. Brown that is hanging on by a thread- a promise made. The “other” Mr. Brown is single, living by what makes him happy, grieving over the loss of his father and taking a break from his normal reality with family and work in Switzerland to work in New York for six months- or so he thinks, before he meets Celeste (Mrs. Brown).
I really enjoyed the story. I was able to read it in a day. It’s a quick, page-turner! The characters definitely experienced insta- lust/ love, there was some forced proximity due to work commitments, and a hero/ green flag male main character.
One of my favorite quotes/ words of advice from the book…
“Think, decide and choose.
Think, or others will think for you.
Decide, or others will decide for you.
Choose, or others will choose for you.”
Thank you to Julie Parks and NetGalley for the free ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a wonderful, cute, romantic story with some life lessons and financial advice sprinkled throughout. I would recommend for those who want an easy, fluffy read.
The sole reason I didn’t give this five stars is because Parks uses variations of the phrase “I let out a breath I didn’t realize I was holding” five times in the story. You know, the phrase that’s pretty much a literature meme? It made it hard for me to take what was happening seriously lol.
I did predict some of the twist, but not all aspects of it, so I enjoyed that. There was also moments where Celeste is trying to guess what an acronym means and it had me smiling at my Kindle. I thought that was a nice touch and added humor to serious moments.
The ending was super cute, although the acronym was not at all what I thought it was, and I was disappointed that Celeste and Brown didn’t meet on the date I thought they would. I think it would’ve been really romantic and full circle but I also get why they didn’t.
I enjoyed the life lessons at the end and will try to remember all of them. Overall, if you’re looking for a positive romance story with some financial and life advice thrown in, this is the one for you!
What happens when strangers with the same last name meet?
Mr. Brown meets Mrs. Brown on a flight to New York and somehow they seem to find a connection.
It all starts with a last-name mix-up and unfolds into something deeper.
I really liked both MCs. Mrs.Brown “Celeste” was my type of person. She is attracted to Brown, but would never cheat on her husband.
I liked the romance, banter and spice.
All in all, a enjoyable romance with a financial aspect to it.

Mr. Brown meets Mrs. Brown on a flight to New York and somehow they seem to find the Ying to their Yang. A heartwarming story of a happenstance meeting that takes Mr. Brown and Mrs. Brown through the streets of New York City and on a journey to find whether they would you choose a promise over happiness. A delightful story compliments of NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Meeting Mr. Brown - Julie Parks
8/10 ⭐
This is a light-hearted contemporary romance set in New York City. 🌆
🗣️1st person, dual POV
💞 Meet cute
💘 Immediate attraction
📝 Short chapters (love that)
🥰 “Look at me.”
🔐 Family secrets
🟩 Green flag MMC
What this book is about:
Celeste Brown returns to her husband of five years after giving him a month of space to finish his hopefully break through book.
Bart Brown spontaneously takes a temporary job in New York to flee from his family responsibilities after his father died.
They end up sitting next to each other on the plane, play a game of Mr. and Mrs. Brown and the attraction is immediate.
To add another coincidence, they find themselves on Monday working in the same office for the next 6 months.
While Celeste tries to rekindle her relationship with her husband Wes, Bart tries to remember that she is NOT his Mrs. Brown. And both is not so easy.
At the beginning of this book I was a bit annoyed by how quickly they realised that both their last names were Brown. I think this was done a bit clumsily.
But after that a really cute story unfolds. I was spooning with Celeste. 🥰
I really liked both MCs, especially Celeste was my type of person. She is attracted to Brown, but would never cheat on her husband.
There were many coincidences, but if you're working at the same office with the same last name, all of them could actually happen, which was fun. 🤗
I would have liked to read a bit more interaction between Celeste and her husband Wes. They live together, but we don't really get to read anything about Wes. If it was a movie, I'd say they tried to save the money for an additional actor. 😅
I'm having a hard time rating the spice here. Maybe it's too much to be called closed-door, but in my opinion it's way too less detailed and vivid to be described as open-door spice. So I'd say it's somewhere in between, the door is slightly ajar. 🤣
I really enjoyed reading this book and it was nice to have a pure green flag MMC for once.
I would definitely recommend it! 😊
Have you read this book? Then I would like to meet up in a park and talk about it. BC 😉
Plot: Bart Brown makes a split decision to take a short term position in New York after the death of his very wealthy father. On the flight he meets Celeste Brown, who is returning home to her loveless marriage. Because of a mix-up with their last names, they end up sitting with each other. Bart is everything she wishes her husband to be. They end up working in the same office over the next six months. Even though there is an obvious attraction, they have differing opinions on what is more important--living up to a promise or living for happiness.
My Thoughts: I really enjoyed this love story. It was fun to watch Celeste grow as a person as she realizes the promise she made to her husband wasn't valuable if he didn't believe in that same promise. And Bart learns to get over his fear of marriage and commitment as he decides Celeste is worth it. The story wasn't just about their romance--it was about how each character grows and develops. I also loved the advice thrown in on building wealth and finding your worth.

Meeting Mr. Brown by Julie Park was a roller coaster – OMG! I was just as surprised as Celeste by all the things she experienced and discovered about her marriage in such a short time.
I really enjoyed the development of Mr. and Mrs. Brown’s relationship and how they supported each other through their different life struggles, finding a balance between the rational and emotional sides of love. I loved how the author showed how our childhood experiences shape the way we approach relationships. In their case, despite growing up in dysfunctional households, those experiences led them down very different paths: Mr. Brown avoiding commitment to protect himself from failure, and Mrs. Brown clinging to her “Yes, I do” as proof that a relationship could last forever. (P.S. I couldn’t stop thinking about Sternberg’s Triangular Theory of Love – haha!)
I also loved the interactions with Wilson! Although I would have loved to see a direct conversation between him and Mr. Brown (you readers know what I’m talking about), it was still fascinating to experience that through Celeste.
Thanks NetGalley and Julie Parks, for the ARC!

I’d first like to thank Julie Parks and Net Galley for allowing me to ARC read Meeting Mr Brown.
I really enjoyed this book, I love the concept of chance meetings and destined interactions.
There is so much more to this book than chance encounters, and inevitable romance. The growth in both our main characters is incredible. The lessons they learn about themselves and life in general, I’m sure are lessons many of us could appreciate and learn from also.
Of course there is the romance, and I am here for it too. Meeting Mr Brown isn’t your typical contemporary romance, but I loved it!
Very cute love story! Loved that both the MMC and MFC just happened to have the same last name. All their accidental meetups were so cute and serendipitous! Their story kept me engaged all the while sneaking financial advice. It was just like someone had snuck in vegetables into a sweet treat without me knowing! At the end, the Author added some wonderful tips about building your finances and also just all-around good advice for life! I highlighted a few to keep with me!

Oh my goodness, I loved this book so much! I need my own Mr Brown please!
I was so intrigued by the author’s note that it’s also like a self-help guide and it completely is, I love the way it was weaved throughout the story and also clearly explained at the end.
It took me a few chapters to get into but once I did, I was hooked! I loved seeing how Mr and Mrs Brown kept meeting again and again by chance and had such a strong subconscious connection, that they both help and change each other in ways they didn’t even realise were possible. The parallels between Mr and Mrs Brown are expertly created and added another layer to their story for me.
I felt all the emotions within this book! Happiness, anger, heartbreak, excitement, surprise… oh, there were some lovely surprises.
4.5 stars purely because the first couple chapters were a bit slow for me, everything else was utterly perfect!
Thank you NetGalley and the author Julie Parks for providing me with this ARC!
Meeting Mr. Brown surprised me with its mix of raw honesty, romance, and self-discovery. At the heart of it, we meet Celeste-married to an exploiting, downright asshole of a husband. Watching her reclaim her independence, both financial and mental, was incredibly empowering. She’s not just surviving-she’s rewriting her future.
Then there’s Mr. Brown, carrying the weight of his father’s death and the messy aftermath of secrets that refuse to stay buried. His vulnerability and growth made him such a layered character, and when his path intertwines with Celeste’s, love feels like the only thing strong enough to rise above all the chaos.

Bart Brown, a confirmed bachelor from Lake Geneva, heads to New York for a six-month job and finds himself seated next to Celeste Brown, a woman struggling in a failing marriage. Their shared last name leads to coincidences that only draw them closer—especially when they discover they’ll be working side by side.
Meeting Mr. Brown is a charming romance built on a clever mix-up. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Bart and Celeste and the way their banter made it feel like fate had stepped in. The premise is playful, the office setting adds tension, and Celeste’s emotional struggles give the story some depth. A great meet-cute.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Meeting Mr Brown by Julie Parks was nothing short of surprising for me. Its marketed as a romance filled with real wealth building tips. The thought of the wealth building tips left me unsure of how this book would be and if it would work well in a romance. Well it definitely worked, there was plenty of wealth building tips but it didnt read like it, only when you get to the end of the book and the tips are listed do you really realises the lessons learnt in the book.
What Meeting Mr Brown is, is a great contemporary romance with great characters and a beautiful love story. We all know by now that my favourite thing in a romance is when two people heal each other when they didn't even realise they needed it and that is exactly what this book is.
Celeste is in a loveless marriage but determined to keep her promise while Brown is happily a bachelor who doesn't believe that marriage can ever bring happiness to two people. These two are instantly drawn to each other and the journey they take together is incredible to read.
Meeting Mr Brown is releasing October 10th and definitely deserves a spot on your TBR.

ARC review
This was such an enjoyable book. I loved how the characters were mature. I particularly loved Celeste. Her story was amazing and we could see how she stood up for herself. It was truly an inspiring story. Their love seems genuine and even meant to be ☺️ it really felt like they were soulmates.
I liked the writing style even tho I sometimes got lost but that’s probably because English isn’t my first language.
I especially liked the summary guide at the end of the book. I totally will get to it again today because I want to apply those to my life as well.
I think this book is amazing pick if you want some love story but also want to learn something that you might truly need in life.
Meeting Mr Brown is a unique blend of romance and self-help, which isn’t usually my typical read but I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed the dual POV and especially how the two characters met. The mix up with coffee cups and seats, plus sharing the same last name, made for such a fun premise. Accidentally becoming “Mr and Mrs Brown” was such a clever hook!
Where I did struggle a little was with the detailed discussions around building wealth and financial growth. At times, these sections pulled me out of the romance and felt a touch heavy. That said, it didn’t stop me from liking the book overall. They were well researched and I appreciate that!
Some plot holes remain but overall was an enjoyable, thought-provoking romance that left me reflecting on the choices we make in life. Do we keep our promises or do we chase happiness? That’s the question.
✨💵✨
I just loved this book. I loved all the characters (except the jerk Wes), loved Celeste and Brown’s love story, and loved the self-help advice perfectly woven into the story.
I don’t typically annotate books, but I highlighted many phrases throughout this book that resonated with me.
I would love a second book about Wilson’s backstory. His character intrigued me, and I loved him just popping up to provide both of them life advice.
The book asks what would you choose- a promise or happiness? My answer: Always choose happiness. Life is too short to not actively pursue happiness… And always BC 😉
If you like mature slow burn romances with a side of self-help, I strongly recommend this one.
I received this book as a #gifted ARC. Thank you to the author and @Netgalley for sending this book for review consideration. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is such an interesting concept, and I was really excited to read this book while learning about financial topics. The beginning of the book was a bit confusing, as was the back and forth between the characters.
Two Browns, chance meeting, dual POV, and each navigating different challenges. I don’t read a ton of romance, but I found myself really rooting for both MC’s. I love a book that can bring me to tears and make me giggle, It was a very fast-paced read as well.
While I did enjoy the growth the characters experienced, I don’t know how I feel about the marketing of a “success guide”. Originally, I thought that eluded to financial success (the books very briefly touches on these themes), but it was more so self-growth tips that helped the FMC. While I did enjoy the guide at the end, I have read a ton of self development non-fiction, and I thought this was an interesting pairing, but I do feel like it actually hurt my connection to the book, because I was expecting something different.
I was contacted by the author to read this book for an honest review. I am selective with ARC reading but this one intrigued me.
I received an advance reader copy of this book, and was intrigued by the concept. A romance that doubles as a self help finance guide? Interesting, and not my typical read.
From the beginning I was impressed with Parks writing skills - whether I enjoyed the book or not, her talent with words was apparent. Thankfully, the storyline was as good as the writing.
Both main and side characters felt real - the depth put into Celeste and Brown had my heart wrenching for both. The pair's paths begin to intertwine after a coffee mixup in an airport.
Their immediate connection adds both a welcome break, and further disruption, to their already tumultuous personal lives.
Gaining some finance tips along their self growth journeys, was a nice bonus. Parks was able to weave the "self help" portion into the story so well, I didn't even realize I was suppose to be learning.
The pace of the book keeps you turning the pages, and wraps up nicely. Glad I took a chance and read something new. If you're a romance reader - or not - you should give Meeting Mr. Brown a read.

Well-deserved points for Julie’s unique take. She’s trying to make us all smarter with her book, and in a fun way! I especially loved the summary at the back with all the advice listed out. Thanks Julie, I enjoyed it!

Meeting Mr Brown by Julie Parks is a captivating read that showcases the transformative power of love. The 'Almighty Mr Brown's' journey with Celeste is a testament to the idea that love can change us in profound ways. What stands out aside the burning romantic desire is the insightful theme that "we are the makers of our own luck," as Wilson so aptly puts it. The conversations between Mr. Brown, Mrs. Brown, and Wilson offer valuable food for thought on approaching life. I particularly enjoyed the humorous twist on the mysterious 'BC,' which cleverly stood for 'Bring Chocolate.' With its engaging storyline and memorable moments, 'Meeting Mr Brown' is definitely worth reading.
Reviewer 1819467
I really enjoyed reading this one. It has a lot of your typical romance book plots which are fab and amazingly done but along side that romance there is a lovely story of self discovery, empowerment and choosing happiness/ putting yourself first.
This book is a must read for anyone who has ever struggled to feel good enough, anyone who has tried to hold onto someone they shouldn't have, anyone who's tried to change themselves in anyway to try make something work or fit in with what society says we should do/feel, and anyone who's tried has ever put their own needs aside to focus on someone elses.
The romance side of this book is lovely, it is a story of an unexpected meeting of two people destined for each other and all the little coincidental times/places they bumped into one another, all the shared experiences and the same people they knew individually and thoughts/plans they had that coincided with each other and always led them back to each other.
It gives a real sense of if something is right and meant to be then it will find a way.
I love that even throughout the building romance/love story both characters chose their own path and try do things in their own way. I love that they push each other to be better for themselves and do what they love rather than change to fit together.
And I loved the little reminders to be your best self and grow at the end of the story
Bart & Celeste
After a chance encounter where there was a mix up with their last names being the same, Bart and Celeste shared a plane ride to new york where they were very enamoured with one another. Both with startling differences of opinion when it came to life and love.
Celeste, such in a dead end marriage, with no hope for a spark of happiness drowns in those feelings but feels once making that commitment it is a promise to that someone for the rest of your life.
Bart, the opposite, feels happiness comes in other ways and is at a point where no relationship is worth it. These two have many more encounters and find themselves in each other's life more and more with the undeniable pull between them.
The story followed the two of them as they discover that just because they have those thoughts and feelings does not mean the other is necessarily wrong but what if they could have the love and happiness that they both desired, regardless of the way they so strongly held onto their views previously.
There was elements of financial advise woven into the story as well.

Meeting Mr. Brown is a heartfelt, relatable romance that goes beyond just a love story. The characters feel real—their misunderstandings, insecurities, and growth hit close to home. I loved how the story handles miscommunication and emotional tension in such an authentic way, showing that honest conversations and patience can strengthen relationships.
What sets this book apart is how it blends romance with subtle life lessons about personal growth, mindset, and even financial awareness, all without feeling preachy. Julia’s writing is warm, insightful, and keeps you turning pages.
Perfect for readers who want romance with depth and meaning—I couldn’t put it down!

💞 Emotional/Romantic:
So grateful I got to read an ARC of Meeting Mr. Brown by Julie Parks.
Brown & Celeste’s story stole my heart—their chemistry is undeniable, their connection electric, and the depth of their journey kept me turning the pages. I also found myself learning along the way, which made the story even more meaningful. 💕 Can’t wait for more from this author!

So grateful to have been asked by @julieparksauthor to be an ARC reader for this book! Meeting Mr. Brown was a unique take on a love story. The self-help aspect of the novel that the characters worked through was something I haven’t seen in such detail in a novel. Being totally honest, the business/finance discussions in the story went over my head much of the time…finance is not my forte 😅 I also wanted more Wilson! His character was so lovable, but I wanted to know more about him so desperately! The character development, the meet-cute between Mr. and Mrs. Brown, as well as the serendipitous events throughout the story were so perfectly romantic. BC. 🥰 IYKYK.

Thank you for the opportunity to read Meeting Mr. Brown.
It is an original romance story that has emotion heart, and healing. I enjoyed the story line and it was thought-provoking to follow the 2 strangers who found each other through having the same last name and a chance encounter. It followed their day to day life after the initial meeting, and makes one wonder was it fate for them to meet.
It wasn't my favorite read, but I did want to finish it and didn't put it down until I did.
Alison A, Reviewer
Not quite the millionaire romance I was expecting—and in a pleasant turn of events, all the better for it. The author clearly put a lot of care into researching the habits and behaviors of the ultra-wealthy, weaving them into a story that balances equal parts romance and almost a self-help lens.
What begins as a serendipitous encounter (thanks to the shared last name of the main characters) unfolds into something that feels like fate stepping in. I especially appreciated how both characters were allowed space to grow—navigating grief, strained marriages, and the heavy weight of family legacy—while still finding the courage to change course.
A thoughtful, layered romance that offers more than just glitter and grand gestures
I enjoyed this off chance encounter romance. It follows both MCs with the last name Brown and who get mistaken for husband and wife because their last names are the same.
Bart, who doesn’t really believe in marriage and sees women only for hook ups moved to New York after his father passed. Celeste who feels she is in a dead end marriage and as she is going home to her husband has a run in with Bart in a mixup by them being placed together.
Their unconventional meeting grows into a romance with sweet moments, light banter and a bond between them. The story had some added points on growing wealth which I wasn’t feeling this incorporated well into the story however it didn’t hinder me from liking the book.
This book felt both refreshing and thoughtful. The story had a nice balance between light banter and deeper emotions, and I really liked how the author mixed romance with themes of self discovery. Celeste came across strong but also vulnerable, while Mr. Brown carried the weight of family secrets but still believed in happiness. Their meeting turned into something meaningful without losing the playful energy. I also appreciated the way author added layers about money, success, and independence. The chemistry between the characters felt instant, with moments that made me smile and others that made me stop and think. Thank you so much to the author and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read the book in advance, I received this for free and I'm leaving a honest review
Meeting Mr. Brown by Julie Parks has all the classic romance tropes - instant chemistry, serendipitous encounters and opposites attract but it’s also so much more...
Brown who is reeling from family secrets following his fathers passing believes in choosing happiness. Celeste, who is in a dead end marriage, believes in keeping her promises. Can they both be right?
Their chance meeting blossoms into a story of love, self-discovery, and second chances. I love that the story is as much about their individual paths and growth as it is their romance together.
Alongside the swoon-worthy moments, Parks weaves in empowering insights on success, wealth, and life, making this both a feel-good romance and an inspiration to building the future you want.
I will say some of the financial guidance/empowerment messages didn't flow/feel like natural dialogue. But it didn't much bother me.
Also I loved the character Wilson!
Meeting Mr Brown is available from 10 October.

Meeting Mr. Brown is a unique blend of romance and self-help. It pairs a chance-meeting love story with wealth-building tips.
The story follows Brown, a hedge-fund professional seeking noise and distraction but definitely not commitment in New York, and Celeste Brown, returning to a stale marriage which she feels bound to because of the promise she made.
I really loved the concept of this book although I will say that the wealth building tips were fairly general and not a major part for me, coming into the story towards the end. The slow burn romance element however I thought was really well done with just the right amount of spice! I love a good love story and this definitely delivered! I thought the mysterious townhouse and the enigmatic Wilson were a great addition as I love a good mystery and I would have liked this to have been developed more in the story. Overall an enjoyable feel good romance!

began Meeting Mr. Brown last week and, though it took me a little longer to finish than planned (thank you, busy work schedule 😩), it was absolutely worth the wait.
This is a beautifully written and heartfelt story about two people one who believed in happiness, and one who believed in promises and how they ultimately learn that true happiness is found in keeping that promise. The characters are tenderly drawn, the emotional beats feel genuine, and the message lingers long after the final page.

I completely fell in love with Brown and Celeste's story. This was truly a slow burn romance. By knowing the exact thoughts of both characters, it was very easy to feel how the lust turned into deep adoration. In fact, being able to know the exact self-reflecting thoughts made me connect to these characters so much more. While I personally did not agree with some of the self-reflecting opinions due to my own convictions, I was not at all offended by them and could understand how they carried the storyline on. I gave this book a 3 star rating because the love story verses the financial advice were not married to each other. The financial advice came much later on in the story as a completely separate topic. Also, some topics were slightly incomplete. Overall though, this is definitely worth a read.
I love the description of this book! The idea was a brilliant choice, and the writing captured my attention. Throughout the story, I would pick up little gems of wisdom from Parks. Not only was I entertained, but I also felt like I walked away with things to think further about. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
Just finished reading an advanced copy of a book that was just released on October 10th called, Meeting Mr. Brown. This is about Celeste Brown, who meets a handsome stranger, named Bart Brown, on her flight home and they get mistaken as Mr. and Mrs. Brown. Bart doesn't believe in marriage and relationships that last longer than a night. Celeste is trying to save her failing marriage, not knowing what changed and why her husband doesn't want her anymore. As they're on this flight, Bart and Celeste instantly click, they're the perfect pair, and their chemistry is undeniable. They part ways that evening after their flight, only for Celeste to get to work on Monday and find that Bart is now working at her office for the next six months. They are mistaken as Mr and Mrs Brown even more now that they're working together, and as Bart gets to know Celeste more he starts to think to himself that he likes the idea of her as the Mrs Brown to his Mr Brown.
This was such a entertaining story! It had my attention right from the start and kept it all the way through! It was really fun as well as heartfelt. Both Celeste and Bart's growth throughout the story was really beautiful and really well done! I was rooting for them to find their happiness! 🤍📚
Thank you to the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for this ARC of Meeting Mr. Brown, in exchange for an honest review.
Now when the blurb called this a modern telling of, "Affair to Remember," I had to go watch the movie before reading it and I definitely can see the connections.
The whole, meet cute type of event that leads the two MC to each other on the plane, cute. But when it carries over into the office? Stupidly cute. Adorable. Eat it up with a spoon. The entire romance, from the way it develops to how it ends is a fun light little romp. I could see it playing out in a movie, especially the last chapter. Ugh. So sticky sweet. So as a romance this one is worth it.
As for the self-help side to this story? I admit I was curious how it would work but also a little nervous about an entire book of it? But actually it was done so well you kinda forgot about it until you were reading a line and thinking, 'huh is that so?' The author clearly did research, a lot of research and worked definitions, tips, etc into the plot and dialogue in a way that wasn't, 'beat you over the head with it,' without having it disappear to the point you didn't realize what you were reading. Is it noticeable? Yep. But I think it's worth the risk because the romance side of the story was cute and the advice was actually pretty dang useful and not so overly done that it completely took you out of the story.
Overall I think it was a risky move to combine the two genres and I think the author did a pretty good job. Worth the read.

Meeting Mr. Brown by Julie Parks is such a unique and refreshing read! What starts as a simple mix-up at an airport coffee shop turns into a beautifully layered story about two lost souls, Celeste and Bart Brown, whose shared last name and unexpected connection change the course of their lives.
This isn’t your typical romance, it’s equal parts love story, self-discovery, and a crash course in success and mindset. Parks weaves real-life financial wisdom and personal growth principles seamlessly into the plot, giving readers a “learn while you fall in love” experience. I especially appreciated how both characters are given space to grow, confront their fears, and choose happiness over complacency.
The New York backdrop adds a polished charm, and the emotional tension feels raw and real. Supporting characters, like the wise and warm Wilson, add heart and humor along the way. While a few transitions felt a little abrupt, the story’s message more than makes up for it, balancing warmth, inspiration, and depth.
The “Success Guide Summary” at the end was the perfect touch, tying together the book’s themes of ambition and authenticity. If you’re looking for a romance that inspires as much as it entertains, Meeting Mr. Brown absolutely delivers. A heartfelt, thought-provoking, and ultimately feel-good read.

this was a really interesting read and when i read more about who and what the author was trying to do in this story it gave it all the more understanding and meaning. for this wasn't a story the author just wanted to create. but Julie wanted to create a story around an idea, or ideas and helpful hints to make people seek better lives or at least have the optional knowledge. i meant to be honest there is no need. because after all , for me, all romance are self help books haha.
i love the idea of this book. where you can believe in the little happening or little coincidences that tie into a pair of people meeting and then what happens next. and from there we learn of both of our characters in their own right and as a connecting pair.
i really liked how we see two people who are contending with something in their own lives. and this didn't mean they would destroy their lives(her via cheating) or he would upend his but the very real issues for both of them was there. it felt real and mature and also this connection they both had. would this be happening if they both didn't want to escape their realities?
i was rooting for both of them to find their happiness. and it was a little weird. because there was no part of me that wanted a break-up of marriage but also didn't like how Mrs Brown was feeling towards herself or what she felt her husband was or should we say wasn't feeling for her.
Mr Brown and Mrs Brown both had some really cute moments. it all felt heartfelt and solid throughout the book and it took me on such an entertaining read. i wanted them both to be ok and i was hooked to finding out how Julie would write this and how it might end.
the added little lessons or reflections in this book was really well done and how it mixed and weaved into the book felt really clever and never pushy. i was interested and sat and thought of them all and what they might mean for me and at the end of the book i was left wanting to know more from Julie and what she had to say and was thinking via the working of this book she had given us.

I LOVE how this book ended with a success guide summary 🥹🩷 It instantly brought me back to the time when I was so obsessed with personal development and financial tips before I started working. I actually just celebrated my one-year work anniversary this month, and this book couldn’t have come at a more perfect time.
Somewhere along the way, I got distracted and forgot about the goals I set for the year >< But reading this reminded me to pause, reflect, and realign. I’m truly grateful for everything I have right now and this book helped me realize so many things.
One of my favorite lines was:
“Take this and any other opportunity that comes your way. You are so lucky to have it. There are people who can’t do that. Take every opportunity while you can.”
And these words hit me so hard also:
“Think, decide, and choose. Think, or others will think for you. Decide, or others will decide for you. Choose, or others will choose for you. Don’t feel, just do.”
This book is honestly amazing. Even though I wasn’t entirely fond of how the romance started, I still found their ending super cute 🥹💘 It gave me a whirlwind of emotions, and while I still have a few unanswered questions, the ending definitely left me satisfied. <3

Meeting Mr. Brown was definitely not what I expected, but I loved it! It is a romance novel paired with a self-help guide for success.
Due to a mix-up Celeste is sat next to Bart simply because both of their last names are Brown. They begin to talk and really hit it off. Bart is everything she was wanting in her current husband and Celeste is everything Bart didn’t know he needed.
I really enjoyed this novel and I loved the premise in its entirety.

What would you choose - a promise or happiness? Is it possible to have both? I really enjoyed this book! It was intriguing and well written. I love that it was a unique blend of romance and self help because I love both of those genres. I also appreciated the Success Guide Summary at the end of the book which I will definitely be referencing again. This book releases on 10/10/2025. Thank you to the author Julie Parks for the ARC and opportunity to read this book before its release. Defintely worth adding to your TBR!

This is one of those reads that kinda pop up when you least expect it and never knew you needed it either.
I loved it.
I tandem read it these past few weeks and I loved how I could always come back to it and be just as interested then where I left off.
Celeste Brown…a strong FMC, healing and gaining more empowerment through this story. After being married to someone for 5 years and having a not so alive marriage, she ends up meeting Mr.Brown.
These two were genuinely made for each other and the universe made it so they would meet.
Working in finance myself, it was fun to read this in that aspect too!! I truly enjoyed it.
Also who doesn’t want a little romance read that also doubles as a self help?!
This book has genuine feelings, real life conversations and tension between two people, and very intelligent writing that is written beautifully. Truly.
This deserves some love🤍Add it to your TBR for those rainy days you need a little something, trust me.

Thank you so much to Julie Parks for this e-arc.
This story was really entertaining. I was captivated by it from the beginning to the end. It was both emotional and incredibly enjoyable. The development of both Bart and Celeste throughout the story was quite lovely. Without revealing too much, I absolutely loved this romance story.
Thank you to NetGalley and Julie parks for an advanced reading copy of Meeting Mr. Brown in exchange for my honest opinion.
I loved this book, because I was a Thomas and I married a Thomas! So I definitely resonated with this part of the book. While I’m usually not a fan of instalove, it works here. Want a sweet story that has a HEA? Meeting Mr. Brown will check all those boxes!
