Description

PRE-ORDER NOW! A gorgeous Edinburgh-set story about love: loving another, loving yourself and loving life.

'A truly unique love story' JANE CRITTENDEN
'Beautifully written' REBECCA RYAN

Maggie should be living life to the full. She should be travelling the world, jumping out of planes, skiing in the mountains. Everything she dreamed of doing. But a year ago she fell ill and needed a heart transplant, losing all her confidence. This new heart is a gift, and Maggie believes that the best way to honour it is to be careful, cautious, safe.

Then something impossible happens. Maggie wakes up one morning in a flat that's not her own, in pyjamas that aren't her own and when she looks in the mirror - she sees another woman's face looking back at her. Somehow, magically, Maggie has been given another chance at life, and another chance at love...

But can you truly follow your heart if it belonged to someone else first?

The acclaimed author of THE ECHOES OF US returns with a story to win your heart. For fans of Dani Atkins, Paige Toon and Sophie Cousens.

I would like to thank the author, the publisher and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read an ARC of this book. It drew me in from the first page and the characters were so well drawn I felt I knew them, it made me cry but I loved the writing and look forward to reading more from the author.

Such a gorgeous, uplifting storyline filled with hope and longing.

A poignant reminder of how precious life is and how we can take our health for granted.

I adored Maggie and was entranced by the narrative and just couldn't figure out how it would all end.

But I raced through it to find out and I wasn't disappointed by the beautiful and poignant ending.

Emma has done it again with another emotional novel that sparkles with a unique romance. I can't wait for the next one.

Another heartbreakingly beautiful book from this author. From the very first page I was gripped. I felt completely invested in the characters lives and when it ended I wanted to climb into the book and stay there to see what happens next. An absolutely beautiful story.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC in return for my honest and unbiased opinion.

Oh my goodness Emma has done it again!! I loved this book so much 🥹.

I don’t want to give too much away since it’s still a few months until publication but I loved this from start to finish!

I just love the way that Emma writes! I love the fact that I could just keep reading and reading without stopping. Not sure what she puts into her writing but it’s definitely addictive! I also feel like each of the characters was so well done that I could totally understand each of them.

A gorgeously moving, hopeful and poignant second chance story. I loved Maggie’s journey and the idea of getting to experience another life after loss. Five stars.

The author has used such a brilliant device to take a heart transplant patient into the actual body and life of the doner. Through this experience Maggie learns tio live life to the full as she never has before.

The story centres around Maggie, who’s been living with a slowly deteriorating heart condition but thankfully for her, just before it’s too late, she receives the gift of a new heart. Of course, this means heartbreak for another family and after some time passes, Maggie receives a letter from the donor family asking if she would be willing to meet them so they can feel close to their daughter’s heart one more time. But Maggie isn’t sure if she should, if she able to take this step… Then one day Maggie wakes up but she isn’t in her bed, the pyjamas belong to someone else and most frighteningly of all, when she looks in the mirror it’s someone else’s face staring back at her. She still feels and thinks like Maggie but she realises she is now a girl who everyone knows as Emily. Is this Maggie’s second chance at life? If so, will she take it? For what is life, if we don’t grab our chance and live it to the full, the way our heart tells us to?

This is an absolutely wonderful and uplifting story of what it means to live, to love and be loved and to have the confidence to follow our hearts and dreams.

As a final note, I’d like to add for anyone who potentially struggled with Emma’s first book, because of how that story jumped through moments in the past making it harder to follow especially for Kindle readers, that this does not apply to this book at all. It is a linear story, beautifully written so easy to read regardless of whether you end up with a digital or a printed copy.
