Description
Welcome back to Sunrise Cove for this heartwarming enemies-to-lovers tale where found family, forgiveness, and love may just be the key to finding yourself, from New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis.
--------------------------------------------
Lexi Clark's life is falling apart!
Summoned home to Sunrise Cove, the last thing she wants to do is face all the complications she left behind. Her past, her stepsister Ashley, and especially her infuriatingly gorgeous childhood nemesis-turned-crush Heath Bowman.
Lexi's way too focused on her job as an art appraiser, she doesn't have time to believe in trust, love, or Happily Ever Afters. Her stepsister, on the other hand, is so full of life it hurts to look at her. But Lexi can't refuse Ashley's plea to honor their late mother's final wish. So, on behalf of her estranged mother's estate-and with Heath in tow as the executor-Lexi embarks on a road trip to repay all the people her gambling addicted mother owed money to.
Soon, all of Lexi's complicated feelings come to a head; missing her mom, missing Ashley, and most of all, missing Heath. For the record, she doesn't like it, or the way he has of scaling the walls she's built around her heart. The road trip shenanigans that ensue are both funny and heartbreaking, but Lexi finds something shocking along the way. Acceptance. Family.
And, unbelievably... love.

Thank you to Headline and NetGalley for the e-arc in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This was such an enjoyable read and my first book by Jill Shalvis, and definitely will not be my last. I immediately found myself invested in the story, especially in Heath and Lexi. They loosely reminded me of Noelle and Theo from You, With a View by Jessica Joyce; childhood nemesis’s with a one-sided dislike that slowly unravels into something more, with sharp banter, undeniable chemistry, and great tension throughout. I loved the dynamic that Heath and Lexi had; the way their history wove through their present. The glimpses into their shared past alongside the people they had grown into was really nice to see.
Yes, this was messy and chaotic at times, but in the best way. It captured the reality of how unpredictable life can be; how grief, loss, and parental abandonment leave lasting marks that shape who we are, and Lexi was the epitome of that. I Jill didn’t shy away from the difficult emotions in telling their story, and navigated them in an honest, sometimes messy, but ultimately really profound way. You could truly feel the weight of what both Heath and Lexi had been through and how those experiences shaped their choices, fears, and their bond.
The side characters were just as entertaining and added warmth, humour, and some really touching moments to the story. I especially like to Heath’s grandpa, and his dog, Mayhem!
Overall, this was heartfelt, funny, emotional, and uplifting, and I’m so glad I picked this up.
