Description

A Father’s Control. A Forbidden Love. One Woman’s Fight for Freedom.

In 19th‑century Switzerland, Amalia Grob is expected to obey. Her father dictates her future, the church defines her role, and every path before her leads to a life she does not choose.

When Amalia falls for Peter—a bold young artist with dreams beyond their Swiss mountain village—everything begins to change. Their connection is forbidden. Their love, dangerous. Yet in Peter’s presence, she glimpses a life of freedom and purpose she’s never dared to imagine.

Trained to suppress her desires and accept her fate, Amalia begins to resist—first in silence, then in secrecy, and finally with defiant plans to elope. But when their love is exposed, the consequences are devastating. Her world shatters, yet something inside her has awakened. And there is no turning back.

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Swiss Alps, The Alpenhaus is a sweeping tale of forbidden love, resilience, and the courage it takes to forge your own path. Inspired by the true‑life love story of pioneering photographer Peter Britt and Amalia Grob, this is Book One in the Where Lost Dreams Awaken series.

Advance Praise

This is not a formulaic, sappy love story where the couple lives "happily-ever-after," but a thoughtful and respectful exploration of feelings and turmoil, financial hardships, women's roles, and religious differences during a challenging time in Swiss history. I like stories that involve my senses with visual imagery, and this author did not disappoint. Her descriptions of the sights, sounds, scents, tatstes, and physical sensations, bring the reader into the story. I felt like I could almost climb to the alpenhaus alongside Amalia, and sit with her at the table to have fresh-baked birnbrot, cheese, and coffee. I hope the author will give us more of this in future books, as well as more detailed portrayals of the characters' internal dialogue. I look forward to reading more about Peter and Amalia Britt.
