Profound message, simple language & incredible illustrations!

Sometimes picture books for kids seem to dilute the intended message so much that it’s confusing, but not this book! This beautiful little book talks about prayer (talking to God) in clear language. It gives real life examples that kids of all ages can relate to. It inspires kids (and their parents) to take a deep breath and whisper their prayers to God all throughout the day. Such a beautiful and simple reminder that we can take all things to the Lord!

Highly recommend adding this book to your home library—this one is likely to become a favorite of many kiddos and be read over and over again!

This is a nondenominational, but certainly Christian-leaning prayer book that teaches children to breathe and whisper a one-word prayer such as "Thanks", and "Help". It reminded me of Anne Lamott's book for adults, "Help, Thanks, Wow" in that we don't need our prayers to be long and flowery in order to connect with God.

In praying and finding calm within ourselves, we are practicing self-control, self-awareness, and a sense of gratitude. All of which are needed in our children. I think parents who are non-denominational and are looking to introduce or encourage prayer into their homes will enjoy this book.

As a parent, I am always looking for resources to help my son understand and connect with his faith in a meaningful way. Deep Breath, Little Whisper does just that with simplicity and beautiful artwork. This one is going to become an instant favorite in our household! It is the perfect tool for parents who want to help their children learn to manage big feelings, find comfort and build a strong relationship with God

LOVED this book! I’m trying to help my kids learn that they can pray to God whenever they want to. Even if it’s just to say “Thank You” or “Help Me.” This book did just that.! My oldest will sometimes tell me “I need to pray to Jesus, I’ll be back” and will run off to her room in front of the cross to say a quick prayer. But my youngest ones are still not there. My kids were all super engaged with this book; the art, the short text, the message. They’d constantly repeat whatever the kid was whispering at any given point. I plan to read this until they start whispering “Thank You’s” to God throughout the day without being prompted, because we know we all have so much to be thankful for.

With the way the world is today, prayer has been a BIG thing we’ve been focusing on with our kids. And this book just was absolutely perfect way to explain to kids the bigger meaning of prayer.

Deep Breath, Little Whisper by Scott James has a beautiful message that adults and children alike should know; a prayer to God can be sent up with a single word.

Each page tackles a situation or emotion that children may face and short or single word prayers that they can say to bring comfort and peace.

Great for little ones facing anxiety and big emotions about the world around them!

This was a good book on explaining prayer and the relationship you have with the Lord. It isn't one and done but a continual talk to the Lord on a daily basis. I really enjoyed the book!

This book is a gem—beautifully illustrated, easy to understand, and perfect for little ones.

I will probably be buying this book to have at home. The concept is great. The way it’s written is approachable and will not overwhelm little ones. The illustrations are beautiful. I showed my 6-year old and he loved the small simple prayer prompts. I would not be surprised if he brings it up again or asks to see the book again. Great job!

This story simplifies praying. Reminds us we can pray anytime and about everything. God always listens. It also gives a few life lessons. I would read this often to a child. Amazing illustrations. Highly recommend.

I really love any book teaching kids about God and this one was no different! I love love loved the illustrations I think the illustrator is extremely talented there was so much depth and every page had me engaged and smiling. I’m glad I read the note for adults because I was slightly confused about the whisper praying until it was semi-explained I really liked this and would recommend to anyone. What a great little devotional for early elementary/primary age kids. It's hard sometimes to teach little kids that God is there, that he wants to hear their prayers, and that they can say something meaningful to God. Through some lovely illustrations and very simple words, "Deep Breath, Little Whisper" helps us show kids that praying need not be hard to do! Prayer comes in many forms, not just sitting still with eyes closed and hands folded (or whatever prayer posture one thinks is formal enough for God to sit up and pay attention to). Kids can be shown that God cares to hear when we're joyous, sad, worried, scared, ashamed, or just plain thankful for him. Prayer need not use any special words, because God speaks our language: we don't need to use special language to make him happy to hear from us. Using the admonition of St Paul to "pray without ceasing", we can make our lives a prayer and show the kids in our lives how they can, as well, by just finding natural moments when we want to say something to God, and say it! This cute book with its important faith-forming message is completely non-denominational in nature, as well. I'd love to see a similar title for middle-grade kids someday.

This was such a cute book and gives simple and easy advice to children on how to pray. It really is so easy to stop, take a breath and whisper whatever you may be feeling. I read it to my kids and they were engaged and loved the illustrations.

Prayers are a part of abiding in Christ and resting in his word. This book reminds us take a deep breath, say what is on your heart. Are your scared? Do you lack faith? Do you have doubt?
