June Wood has nothing left to lose.
With her hit TV show cancelled, and no acting jobs lined up, being lured back to New York by a mysterious email was easy. Thanks to a clause in her former landlord's will, June and her old roommate, Adam Harper, now own the multimillion-dollar property-or they will in a month, once the paperwork is signed.
June and Adam are stuck together for four weeks. Which would be fine, if it wasn't for the fact that they haven't spoken in five years. But this is the opportunity of a lifetime, and once it's over, she can return to LA and forget all about Adam, New York and everything that went wrong in their friendship.
Through shared meals and late-night conversations, old wounds and long-buried sparks resurface. It soon becomes strikingly clear that June and Adam have unfinished business. Second chances are always a risk, but maybe, if they are finally honest with each other and themselves, it could be different this time.

In this brilliant debut by Joss, ex roommates June and Adam are thrown together for four weeks thanks to a clause in their former landlords will allowing them to inherit the building. The only problem? They haven’t spoken in five years. Can this forced time together allow them the opportunity to be honest with each other and reconnect once more?
This is honestly one of my favourite romance books I’ve read in a while! Wow!! Joss’ ability to storytell is phenomenal, I was so invested in the characters from the get go and how their time would play out. The chemistry between June and Adam is undeniable, I was honestly giggling and kicking my feet at some of the moments they had together!
I love how Joss uses the flashback chapters to build the depth of June and Adam’s past relationship and how they ended up at this point. I am usually not a fan of dual timeline books but this was done SO well that I loved it. I really enjoyed how they first came to be roommates and seeing their story unfold!
I definitely felt emotional at times, the story tugged at my heartstrings! The scenes with Adam’s beautiful family made me so happy for June.
June narrates the book so well, normally I would prefer a dual POV but this book didn’t need it. Both June and Adam were incredibly likeable characters. I enjoyed seeing June’s career play out and understanding the complexities of why she struggles with relationships.
Both Theo and Chloe were also brilliant side characters!
If you love second chance, forced proximity, slow burn & friends to lovers then I’d highly recommend picking this up! It’s one of the best debuts I’ve ever read!
