This is a prequel to Ask For Andrea which I loved, but now can’t remember anything about. Firstly there are trigger warnings listed at the start of the book, so do check these out if needed. I’d describe this as a paranormal thriller / mystery.
Sabina finds out that the daughter she gave up for adoption as a baby now aged 17 has been reported missing by her adoptive parents. Sabina decides to travel to Ogden to search for Andrea.
Unusually the reader gets to see early on what has happened to Andrea, which gives some vibes of The Lovely Bones as we also get Andrea’s perspective.
It’s very moving from the beginning, the author is great with characterisation and instilling emotion into her books.
To enjoy this one you need to be open to the paranormal, the author uses some inventive ways of telling Andrea and Isabel’s stories using one concept that was more of a stretch for me, where as others which I felt comfortable with, probably as I’d been exposed to those ideas in previous books. I can’t really explain more because of spoilers but it’s in connection with paranormal experiences.
I found it very moving, interesting to see that it’s loosely based on a true story. I loved the connection between the girls stories as well as their emotional connection.
If you loved Ask for Andrea you’ll love this book. I don’t think it matters which order you read them in. I loved it and highly recommend it if you don’t have any triggers.

In this book we follow Sabina, who at 16 years old gave her baby girl Andrea up for adoption. 17 years later Sabina finds out Andrea has been missing for the last few months and she’s determined to find out what has happened to her daughter.
This book is told in multiple POVs including Andrea’s and another character we are introduced to further along into the story. I loved the different POVs and it made me really connect to the characters.
There’s an afterlife/spirit/supernatural aspect to this book which is completely different to any other book I’ve read and my god was I invested in this in a way I never thought I would be.
I felt all the emotions reading this book, I was full of rage for certain characters and kept on the edge of my seat and willing other characters to have a positive outcome.
For a thriller book I found this such a beautiful concept for grief and the afterlife and it made me so emotional and heartbroken and yet hopeful about the afterlife. For a thriller book to create these feelings is completely new for me and I honestly feel like this book was one of my favourite reads for the whole of 2025!
Thank you Netgalley, Noelle w. Ihli and pan macmillan for this ARC.
Wow! This book is just stunning! Noelle W. Ihli delivers every time and I just couldn’t put this one down!
The plot centres around a missing teenager, Andrea, and her birth mother, Sabina, who gave her up for adoption, having had her when she was just 16 years old.
I liked them both instantly and was cheering them on throughout, hoping they would get justice and that Sabina would be able to uncover the truth. The writing is wonderful and the characters and story held me in their enthrall all the way through.
A must read!
5 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Noelle W. Ihli and Pan Macmillan for an ARC of this book.
Wow I can’t even begin to explain how this book made me feel. This book was absolutely incredible for all the wrong reasons but literally had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. This one is very trigger heavy so go in with caution. Oh my I actually am gonna sit on this one but I feel it might just be my new favourite book of 2025!!!
Wow! What a powerful and heartbreaking read. I was completely gripped from the very first page. The story of Andrea and Isabel is utterly devastating, and knowing it’s based on a true story made it hit even harder. Noelle’s writing style pulled me deep into the characters’ world. I felt every ounce of their pain, fear, and resilience.
I also really appreciated that Noelle included information at the end about the real-life events and where to learn more, I’ll definitely be looking into that. She’s fast becoming one of my favourite authors; her ability to combine emotion, realism, and compassion is incredible.
And one final note: I absolutely despise Dennis Beaumont. With. A. Passion.
A standalone, and a prequel. You don’t need to have read Ask For Andrea (a 5 ⭐️ read on its own) to read, or understand Forget You Saw Her. And I would say if you haven’t then save it until after.
I don’t normally read books of this genre with this topic, but as usual Noelle W Ihli grabs you with both hands and holds on until you’re finished.
Her writing is impeccable, and the pacing throughout doesn’t falter. Beautiful characterisation, including ghastly characters, meant I was fully invested in reading this to the end.
Very well done Noelle W Ihli, and thank you once again for entertaining me.
Review of ‘Forget You Saw Her’ by Noelle W. Ihli, due to be published on 6 November 2025 by Pan Macmillan.
A story inspired by true events, this book is the standalone prequel to international bestseller, Ask for Andrea.
Sabina discovers that the daughter she adopted, Andrea, has gone missing three months later, when she is asked for a DNA sample as a body has been found. It isn’t a match, but it starts a journey for Sabina to find her daughter.
Her search leads her to Andrea’s adopted parents, Dennis and Bunny both deeply unlikeable characters who don’t want Sabina asking questions. She meets with Andrea’s friend Paloma and her mother Nadia who tell her disturbing stories about Andrea’s life growing up, and learns from Nadia about another missing girl, Isabel.
Whilst very early on we learn what has happened to Andrea, Sabina’s search for answers is heartbreaking, her love for the daughter she was made to give up shining through in all her actions.
The characters are well written and the storyline has been well researched to strike the perfect balance to make it believable. I could not put this book down, and was absolutely blown away by the emotion weaved into the storyline. An absolutely outstanding prequel and a highly recommended read.
Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read this latest thriller from Noelle W.Ihli.
This book started with a bang and was such a great read throughout.
This is such a great prequel to Ask For Andrea and one I highly recommend!
Where you do even begin with a standalone prequel to Ask For Andrea? I read Ask For Andrea when it first came out and have watched it rise steadily from word-of-mouth cult favourite to international bestseller, receiving plaudits from the full spectrum of Thriller authors including Freida McFadden, Lisa Jewell, Karin Slaughter and many more along the way.
Ask For Andrea is a great thriller and also a book that has touched lives, its spirit-limbo afterlife perspective helping some readers deal with grief and life and death in a way that very few thrillers can. Ask For Andrea arguably ushered in a new wave of Thrillers with paranormal elements.
I’m not exaggerating in saying Forget You Saw Her is one of the most anticipated continuations of a Thriller series that I can remember, not just another sequel.
Forget You Saw Her sees Sabina searching for the daughter she gave up for adoption seventeen years ago. She receives a letter from the police informing her that Andrea Beaumont, her daughter, is a missing person and Sabina’s search gets serious.
It’s an absolute master stroke from Noelle W. Ihli, having a living character searching for a loved one, and the truth, combined with characters in a spirit-limbo desperate to be heard. It builds perfectly on the Ask For Andrea universe.
Both Sabina’s story and the spirit stories and deeply involving and emotionally compelling. You’ll be racing through the pages, heart racing, tears welling up.
Expectations are sky high and Forget You Saw Her smashes them. I couldn’t have wished for a more perfect prequel to one of the most loved modern Thrillers.
Forget You Saw Her achieves the seemingly impossible - A worthy addition to the Ask For Andrea legacy and a stunning, highly original Thriller in its own right.
A must read, book of the year, read it as soon as you can!
Thanks to Netgalley and Pan Macmillan.
Wow, just wow. 5 easy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is a prequel to “Ask for Andrea”, but can be read as a standalone novel, which I agree with, as I’ve not read Ask For Andrea yet (am fully intending to though!).
Sabrina was 17 years old when she gave birth to her daughter and not long after gave her up for adoption, after months of pressure from her parents. She always regretted it. Many years later Sabrina gets a letter which informs her that her daughter is missing. She is compelled to find out what happened and uncovers a truly tragic story, it’s not only Andrea that has gone missing, but another girl called Isabelle years before. Written with multiple POVs, I found it easy to keep track of each character .
This story had me tearing up, and that’s something that happens rarely for me. It’s unbelievably heartbreaking but beautifully written. It grabbed me right from the get go and didn’t let me go until the last page, it’s fast paced, relentless and completely engrossing. I’ve not read anything by this author before, but I’ll be reading the next book shortly and then looking out for more from Noelle.
This story is inspired on the true story of Cathy Terkanian and her daughter Alexis (whose name was changed to Aundria Bowman when she was adopted by Dennis and Brenda Bowman), which makes it even more heartbreaking. 💔
Many thanks to NetGalley and Pan Macmillan for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Noelle is an autobuy author for me and this one didnt dissapoint!
I love how its still a standalone but works well as a series.
Forget You Saw Her by Noelle W. Ihli
I absolutely loved this story. From the very first page, it pulled me in and didn’t let go. I went through such a roller coaster of emotions- heartbreak, hope, fear- all of it woven together so beautifully. By the end, I just had to sit for a moment and take it all in.
I didn’t realize at first that this is a prequel to Ask For Andrea, which I haven’t read yet, but I definitely will now. It stands strong on its own, and you never feel like you’re missing anything.
If you loved The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold, this one will hit you in a similar way. It has that same haunting depth and emotional pull, but it’s also completely its own- raw, powerful, and unforgettable.
Forget You Saw her is the first of Noelle’s that I have read and my goodness can she write a good book! In this dark, heart wrenching and twisted tale, we find Sabina doing all she can to find her missing daughter Andrea, of whom she has not seen since putting her up for adoption 17 years ago. We explore the lengths that a mother will go to, the trials and tribulations that children have faced and the resounding message that the truth will always come out. This is not what I expected at all, nothing could prepare you for what was to come, aside from the trigger warnings of course, however I thoroughly enjoyed this dark read which developed a wonderfully placed supernatural twist. I fully intend on reading more of Noelle’s work and I can honestly say that this tale, inspired by real events, has moved me like no other!

Amazing book, I love the way these are written & loved ask for Andrea too. I knew the earring was a clue! So good. Off to watch into the fire & tell all my book friends to preorder this!
17 years ago Sabrina gave her daughter up for adoption hoping to give her a better life with parents that can care for her. Till a letter arrives asking for her DNA her daughter is missing and police have found a body. Sabrina is determined to find out what's happened but soon discovers the truth about Andrea's disappearance is far worse than she could have imagined.
This is a prequel to Ask for Andrea but can be read as a standalone. I loved ask for Andrea and had high hopes for this and it did not disappoint! This book had me gripped from the start it was heartbreaking and tense and I couldn't put it down these two books will stay with me for some time I have no doubt. Highly Recommend
Thank you to Netgalley, Pan Macmillan and Noelle W Ihli for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I think Noelle W. Ihli is probably my favourite author and I read a lot. There's something about her books that draw you in, grab you by the scruff of the neck and don't let go.
I LOVED Ask for Andrea so was desperate to read this and it didn't disappoint. Heartfelt writing, characters that are so real they jump off the page. The heartbreaking stories of Isabel and Andrea got me feeling it all, not to mention Sabine's plight to find out what happened to the child she gave away for adoption.
Honestly, this author could make a shopping list interesting. I think I've read all her books now but I'm off to double check!
An easy five stars from me! Can't wait for the next one.
What a hell of a ride... this was an utterly gripping and amazing good story! A prequel to Ask Andrea, which I haven't read yet. Certainly going to.
I was so invested in this one read it in three sittings. Loved every bit of it. A rollercoaster, once you step in, there's no way to step out. The girls are so lovable, and also some others. Well described sceneries and characters.
The only thing I have to say is grab a copy of this one on the 6th of November...
Thank you @netgalley and @panmacmillan for my gifted copy!
Wow an easy 5 stars! I absolutely loved Ask for Andrea, so I knew I’d be in for a treat with the prequel Forget You Saw Her. Noelle W. Ihli has such an incredible talent for writing stories that are both heartbreakingly beautiful & deeply thrilling.
I really enjoyed the format & multiple POVs in Ask for Andrea so I was thrilled to see the same style carried over into Forget You Saw Her.
At the end of the book, there’s an author’s note explaining that this story was inspired by the true case of Cathy Terkanian & her fight for justice for the daughter she gave up for adoption. I thought Noelle W. Ihli handled & told this story with such sensitivity & respect.
★★★★★
When I saw Forget You Saw Her by Noelle W. Ihli come up on Netgalley for review I did not hesitate to request it. It is the prequel to Ask for Andrea, which was honestly one of the best books I read last year, but it can be read as a standalone book. However having read both I think it definitely added to the story.
This one follows Sabina, a woman who gave her baby up for adoption seventeen years ago. She’s finally starting to move on… until she gets a call that her daughter Andrea is missing.
That just destroys her, and she decides she’s going to find out what happened, no matter what it costs her.
As she digs deeper, things get seriously dark, with small-town secrets, danger around every corner, and these eerie little moments where she starts feeling like Andrea might be trying to reach her somehow, which was familiar from Ask For Andrea.
It’s emotional, tense, and heartbreaking in parts.
If you loved Ask for Andrea, you have to read this it gives so much more depth to the story and makes the original hit even harder.
I’d give it an easy 5 out of 5 it’s haunting, beautifully written, and full of that slow-burn dread Noelle W. Ihli does so well.
