I did like it though it wasnt as funny as the other one I had previously read. Basically an account of a checkout girls life. Having done this myself I can say that the account in this book were in fact no way exaggerated at all lol

I am always interested in behind the scenes accounts of other peoples' jobs--this is from a French woman who worked as a cashier in British supermarkets. It seems that customers in retail are pretty much just as dumb and rude everywhere in the world.

I loved this book!! As soon as I received the copy on my Kindle I started reading it. I found it fun, light-hearted, so easy to read and I enjoyed every page. A really genuinely funny read. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Since I work in retail, as I soon as I saw this book on netgalley I knew I had to read it.
Anna lives overseas, and worked as a cashier "check out girl" for eight years, and this is the story of being a working girl. It's rather hysterical to me, to see just how universal working in retail is, regardless of where you live. I too am constantly plagued by "Are you open?" and "Where's the bathroom?" and tries to not only educate the public, but does it in a way that makes you laugh.
Anna begins the book by telling you how she got hired and trained, which I laughed through (having gone through an extremely similar process), and then continues by telling you about her daily life working in a grocery store and the story of the contant "beeps".
It's ironic because I have often wanted to try to write a book about my life in retail, but have no talents in that arena! But I'm happy that someone else out there did.

After working retail for 8 years, Anna Sam decided to write a book about retail customers. Going on 6 years in retail myself, I knew this something I needed to read. Anna Sam explains the different types of customers in the most hilarious way. We've all had those customers that stand at the doors waiting for us to open. Can't forget the last customers to leave, 15 minutes after we've closed. And the drunk customers? Oh boy, you hate to love them and love to hate them. She talks management, colleagues, and lunch breaks. Don't forget about the running specials every week. But the worst of the worst is the Christmas Rush. Nothing will make you as tired as working the week of Christmas, even if your hours are shortened.
Anyone who works retail or has before, will absolutely love reading this short novel about the worst jobs of our lives.
Thanks NetGalley for providing me with this hilarious memoir as the life of a checkout girl!

This was interesting to dip in and out of, but quite difficult to really engage with due to the episodic/fragmented nature of the book.
The writer basically recounts a series of experiences or aspects of her job as a checkout operator. This is done with humour, but the tone is so 'samey', with no sense of progression throughout the book, that even the funny bits lost their appeal.
