Description
A seductive fae queen meets her unexpected match in the enemy empire’s valiant general. Enchanting the Fae Queen is the second instalment in Stephanie Burgis' irreverent and sparkling Queens of Villainy series.
Queen Lorelei is a notorious fae seductress, with a trail of broken hearts in her wake. But behind her glamorous lifestyle and sparkling mask lurks a dangerously intelligent woman who’d do anything to keep her people safe, even kidnap the empire’s most famous hero.
The virtuous high general Gerard de Moireul represents all that is moral and true. He has to – after his parents were executed for treason. The last thing he needs is the Queen of Balravia, who showers glitter and rainbow-colored sparkles everywhere she goes without the slightest regard for good taste, decorum or royal dignity.
They’re opposites in every way, but when they’re swept up together in a grand - and deadly - fae tournament, they discover all of each other’s most hidden truths - and how perfectly they might be suited for each other after all.

I absolutely loved this book. The first book in the series set the bar high, and this one cleared it. The main characters felt so fleshed out and interesting, I loved that they had a history together and it showed in the way that they interacted with each other. It was also so refreshing to have a couple with an enemies to lovers dynamic who truly respected one another. Overall this was a lovely book and I cannot wait for book 3!
Enchanting the Fae Queen is book 2 in the Queens of Villainy trilogy, this time focusing on Lorelei, a seductive fae queen, and Gerard, the enemy commander that Lorelei kidnapped from his bed at the end of book 1. I flew through this book in one go with a smile on my face the entire time. I loved the connection between Lorelei and Gerard, and how they learned to trust each other and to move on from their pasts. It was really sweet, but also funny a lot of the time, mainly because of Lorelei's mischievous character. There's a little spice and occasionally there are some fade to black moments in those scenes. I liked the focus on the emotional side of their relationship, and the spice present showed more of their personalities rather than stealing focus. Not every book needs to be spice-heavy and I think it was a nice balance here.
The plot of the first two thirds of the book is related more to Lorelei's backstory than it is to the current unrest within the kingdoms. I thought that worked well for Lorelei and Gerard's relationship - by taking them out of that whole situation for a bit, they got to know each other and get over their assumptions about each other. The plot in the last third brings everything back together and worked as a really good segue into book 3. This book definitely got me excited for the couple in book 3, which has one of my favourite tropes in it - marriage of convenience (hopefully with lots of secret yearning)!

Buoyantly written and delightfully charming fun.
This is probably one of my most hyped books of 2026, and I'm happy to say Enchanting the Fae Queen lives up to my expectations.
Burgis' writing style is so incredibly readable and feels like someone narrating the story in my ear, it's very easy to fall into the story as Lorelei and Gerard gear up to work together to solve riddles and fight monsters at the behest of Lorelei's jilted step-brother. If I had any qualms with this book, it's that I wasn't a huge fan of how much of the book was taken up by the tournament. In this instance it didn't feel like Lorelei needed to participate, like she was doing it for the fun of it, so the consequences weren't as dire. This also makes the first half of the book feel a little slow.
But I still gave this five stars because the characters are stand-out. I just LOVED Lorelei's fae antics. You get a good look at her more sinister side in the first book, but here we explore the full breadth of her backstory and character without sacrificing her delightful trickster queen image. Gerard, as well, proved a fun addition to the cast with his thorny stoicism, and together they have a sizzling, and more importantly, refreshing romantic dynamic.
Super excited to see where the story goes in the third book.
After receiving book two in this witch queen series, I was looking forward to reading Queen Lorelei and Gérard story. Its every bit a page turner as her first book in this series. Been transported to another land in this magical world that Stephanie has created. Can't wait for book 3 and whose story we get next.
