Description
A holiday with your in-laws can be murder . . .
Rosie Riley is nervously excited about meeting the Fraser family. She's head-over-heels for her boyfriend Theo and she hopes that spending a fortnight with the Frasers at their luxury Tuscan villa is a good sign of where their relationship is headed.
Fenna Fraser has been part of the family for years. She's always enjoyed the glam annual holiday, but this year she's especially tired with a new baby in tow and she fears her mother-in-law will be more critical than ever. No one is good enough for her sons.
It starts as the perfect family holiday.
It ends with one of these women arrested for murder.
Who is guilty? Who is the victim? And did they deserve it? . . .

This was a great family based thriller with a twist I didn't see coming at the end! It was well written and kept my attention throughout. I liked how the plot slowly unraveled to reveal more and more secrets. I'd definitely suggest this as a read to others.
Who would have thought a holiday with the family could go so wrong. Rosie is the newest member of the family meeting everyone for the first time. However maybe there is more than meets the eye. An old story of a missing girl who was never recovered and it’s now the 15th at anniversary of her disappearance. Does this family know more than they are saying. Brilliantly written and full of surprises. A lovely weekend read

Rosie Riley's boyfriend, Theo, is taking her to meet his family, the Frasers. Rosie is a little nervous about meeting them all, but is also looking forward to two weeks with them at their luxurious villa in Tuscany.
Fenna is married to Theo's brother, Luke. She has two young children, and feels her husband is not as helpful as he could be. Also, her mother in law keeps commenting on Fenna's parenting skills, supposedly trying to be helpful.
When all the family are together, little niggles and annoyances come to the surface, and Fenna finds herself becoming suspicious of Rosie. Is it simply that Fenna is tired, and struggling with the children, or does Rosie really have an ulterior motive for coming to the villa. Rosie appears to be interested in a girl who went missing some years ago when the Frasers were at the villa, and Fenna is determined to find out why.
This is an addictive thriller, everyone in the family including Rosie, appears to have something to hide, and the plot builds to an explosive ending which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Thank you for my advance copy.

What’s not to love about a book that describes a beautiful Italian villa with a family who all think they know each other well but all have their own secrets? Even the new girlfriend brought along to meet the family for the first time is harbouring a dark secret.
Addictive read, lots of twists and turns and a very satisfying ending leaving you suspecting where the undiscovered body could be, various culprits answering for their crimes and traumatised characters settling into a new life. Just perfect!
Thank you to Netgalley the author and publishers for an arc in exchange for an honest review

Firstly thank you for the opportunity to read and review .I’ve read and enjoyed all of Kate’s book both thriller and non thriller .
I absolutely inhaled this !
I’m still thinking of it the next day .
Who can you trust and what’s hidden unde lock and key?
It’s set in scorching Italy and you can feel the heat jumping out from the pages .
And reading this in freezing November in the uk that’s a much needed escape.
Chilling and tense this is an unpredictable suffocating read on the toxicities of the family and the lengths parents go to keep their children safe .
Fantastic thriller that will have you hooked .

*Welcome to the Family* by Kate Grey completely pulled me in from the first chapter. This is one of those books where you tell yourself , “just one more chapter”...and suddenly it’s 2 a.m.
What really stood out was how well Grey captured family dynamics: the unspoken tensions, the loyalties, the resentments, and the way love and dysfunction can coexist in such complicated ways. The characters felt real, messy, and painfully relatable, which made every interaction hit harder.
Just when you think you’re settling into a family drama, the mystery subplot kicks in and raises the stakes. The pacing is excellent, with twists that feel earned rather than forced, and an undercurrent of unease that keeps you turning pages. I loved how the suspense was woven naturally into the emotional core of the story instead of overshadowing it.
Compelling, tense, and deeply engaging — this book has heart and bite. Highly recommend for anyone who loves character-driven stories with a dark, page-turning edge.
Welcome to the Family is a tense and absorbing book that takes the idea of a dream holiday and twists it into something far more sinister. Set against the backdrop of a luxurious Tuscan villa, the story explores family dynamics, buried secrets and the quiet unease that can simmer beneath polite smiles.
Rosie arrives in Tuscany nervous but hopeful, eager to impress her boyfriend Theo’s family and see what the trip might mean for their future. Fenna, Theo’s sister in law, offers a contrasting perspective. Exhausted from caring for a new baby and wary of her critical mother in law, she approaches the holiday with far less optimism. Their alternating chapters work brilliantly, giving the reader two distinct voices and viewpoints as tensions slowly build.
As the holiday unfolds, the shadow of a past disappearance in the region begins to loom larger, made even more unsettling by a new girl going missing. Suspicion spreads and the sense that everyone is hiding something grows stronger with each chapter. The atmosphere is expertly handled, with subtle clues and uneasy moments leading you in one direction before pulling the rug out from under you.
The characters are well drawn and the twists are genuinely surprising. Just when you think you have worked out what is happening, the story shifts again. This is a compelling psychological thriller that keeps you guessing until the final pages and proves that family holidays can be anything but relaxing.

Unreliable narrators, dual POV and a twist that left me stunned. What more could I have asked for? Five massive stars from me!
