Six friends. Five secrets. One holiday to die for . . .

When a group of friends rent a converted farmhouse in the Yorkshire Dales, they have little idea that this one weekend may change the course of their lives forever.

While out on a walk, a storm descends and the friends take shelter in the mouth of an old lead mine. Inside, they discover a backpack filled with more money than they've ever seen.

Of course, they agree, they will hand the money to the police at the first opportunity. But as the storm continues and time passes, some of the party begin to think again. Because there are secrets festering at the heart of this group. Debt. Obsession. A career on the brink. Problems that could be solved instantly with an unexpected windfall.

And perhaps they don't know each other as well as thought they did.

Before long, six good friends find themselves sliding headlong into a world of deceit, treachery, betrayal and murder . . .

I have been a huge fan of TM Logan for some time, and to be able to read his work early still thrills me and is a massive pinch me moment.

The Weekend is another example of his incredible writing ability, and that he truly deserves the title of master of the up all night thriller. Another well written novel that I just could not put down. The twists and turns within the story had me questioning my own ability to figure out what was happening.

6 main characters but one leading the way and helping keep the pace of the story fast allowing each twist to fall smoothly and keep me hooked.

For a tenth novel there is immense pressure to get it right and well TM Logan got it right!!

This is one of my favourite books of this year and I really could not put it down. The writing was brilliant, the characters believable, and the twists and turns were incredible. The tension was so high that at times my stomach was in knots. An absolutely wonderful read and deserving of 5 stars. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the arc. Brilliant!

This book is a slow-burn psychological thriller that quietly tightens the noose until everything snaps. What starts as an easy weekend getaway in the atmospheric Yorkshire Dales quickly turns ominous, using isolation, relentless weather, and simmering tension to full effect. The discovery of the backpack of money is the spark—but it’s the friends themselves, and the secrets they’ve been carrying, that pour fuel on the fire.

Each character feels increasingly suspect as cracks form in the group dynamic. Debt, ambition, obsession, and desperation blur moral lines, turning casual conversations into loaded exchanges and long-held friendships into potential threats. The author does a brilliant job of showing how quickly “we’ll do the right thing” unravels when temptation lingers and opportunity refuses to disappear.

As paranoia grows and loyalties fracture, the story slides into darkness with chilling inevitability. The tension builds steadily, culminating in betrayal and violence that feels both shocking and tragically earned. Sharp, claustrophobic, and unsettling, this is a gripping read for anyone who loves thrillers about ordinary people making catastrophic choices—and discovering just how well they don’t know the people closest to them.

The Weekend is T.M. Logans tenth published book. I have read them all and think they are all fantastic. Each book I read by him just gets better and better.

The Weekend begins with a group of friends who are spending the New Year holiday at a cottage in the Yorkshire Dales. Whilst out on a hike they stumble across a backpack containing £1.6 million pounds. They then need to decide what to do with it and then have to live with the consequences of their decision. This story is packed full of twists and turns, none of which I saw coming and had such a fantastic ending that I am still in shock.
I highly recommend The Weekend and indeed all of T.M. Logans previous books.

I cannot wait for T.M. Logans next book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bonnier Books UK for my ARC.
