Tasked with reconnecting with the lost colony on Rhea, he instead discovers a gruesome mystery—hundreds of biomechanical Fabricants disassembled in neat, lifeless piles. And the survivors? They’ve turned into something terrifying.
An AI virus has corrupted the colony’s synthetic workforce, transforming them into relentless killing machines. As Trapp battles to keep his crew alive and uncover the virus’s origin, he’s drawn back into the mystery of the Manifold—the ship’s cryptic power source that nearly killed him years ago. Did the virus emerge from the wormhole they crossed? Or is it the first sign of something far more sinister?
To save the colony, Trapp must confront the one force he fears most—the Manifold’s unfathomable power.
Perfect for fans of The Expanse and the mind-bending thrillers of Blake Crouch and Andy Weir, Fabricants delivers high-stakes sci-fi where survival is never guaranteed—and the truth may be humanity’s undoing.

Fabricants are fabricated humanoids who do the heavy lifting for humans, especially when colonizing a planet. In this sci-fi thriller, 179 fabricants are found disassembled on a planet's surface, with the other 21 fabs MIA. There's powerful AI at work, kill-bot code, time jumps, and multiverses to keep things very interesting (not to mention occasionally confusing, in a good way). Lots of action with interesting science and technology. The author throws in quotes and nods to other great sci-fi writers, including Adrian Tchaikovsky and Andy Weir. The narration is engaging and dynamic. I would welcome more in this series!

Second book in this series. Even more so than the first book I didn’t get all the quantum physics described in the story. But I did get great enjoyment from listening to the audio book. Trapp and Bretta are up to their eyes in quantum mayhem as they try to avert universal disaster. Fast paced action, with the possibility of death or being thrown into a void for eternity gives impetuous to the actions of our heroes. You’d think that was bad enough, but as they try to find solutions to the problems - rogue fabricants set on killing human kind, they also find themselves dealing with being chased for falsified crimes to the State. How will it all end? Well I’ve listened through to the end, so I know! But if you want to know, you’ll have to listen to the book yourself. Thank you to Green Bar Books and NetGalley for the audio ARC. The views expressed are all mine, freely given.
