===
In the final days of 2025, the world learns its fate: a supermassive black hole, thirty-seven times the mass of Sagittarius A, is barreling toward the Milky Way at a tenth the speed of light. As panic and chaos sweep the globe, scientist Dane Currier and his brilliant team at the University of Washington race against extinction. Their only hope lies in Project Courier—a radical teleportation technology that could offer humanity a second chance on a distant exoplanet.
But the path to salvation is fraught with peril. Each breakthrough brings new dangers, from grotesque teleportation failures to a mysterious cognitive affliction spreading across the planet. As governments seize control and society unravels, Dane and his allies must risk everything to perfect a system that could save a chosen few—or doom them to a fate worse than oblivion.
The Slide by Aaron Ryan is a pulse-pounding blend of hard science, emotional stakes, bittersweet sacrifice, and existential dread. Follow Dane Currier and his team as they race to perfect a radical teleportation technology, risking everything to escape extinction. With grotesque teleportation failures, a mysterious cognitive affliction, and society unraveling, every page is a fight for survival—and for what it means to be human.

Advance Praise
This story pulls you in fast and doesn’t let go. It’s packed with tension, smart ideas, and characters you actually care about. The whole teleportation-meets-doomsday setup is wild, but it works. Every chapter feels urgent, and the mix of science, emotion, and survival keeps things grounded.
The Slide manages to explore big themes without getting too heavy. It asks what really matters when everything's falling apart. You’ll find yourself thinking about choices, regrets, and what you’d do if the clock was running out. It’s part sci-fi thriller, part human drama, and totally worth reading.
A gripping blend of hard science fiction, emotional depth, and high-stakes innovation. Dane Currier’s groundbreaking teleportation system, Courier3.1, is set to change the world—until the unthinkable happens: a supermassive black hole is discovered on a collision course with the Milky Way. As humanity stares down extinction, Dane and his team—Megan, Isaac, and Dina—must grapple not only with the limits of technology, but with the core of what it means to be human. Fast-paced and thought-provoking, The Slide explores survival, sacrifice, and the fragile threads that bind us together when everything is at stake. Fans of Interstellar and The Expanse will find plenty to love in this urgent and imaginative tale.
totally surprised me—in the best way. It starts off with this super cool tech idea—teleportation, basically—and you're like, “Okay, sci-fi, got it.” But then it throws in a literal black hole coming for Earth?! I was hooked.
The main guy, Dane, is this brilliant inventor, and honestly, I loved how human he felt. He’s not just a genius—he’s trying to save everyone while dealing with all this internal pressure and urgency. It felt like a mix of Interstellar and The Martian, but with more heart and personal stakes.
The pacing is fast (definitely one of those “just one more chapter” books), but it still gives you these quiet moments to think about life, humanity, and what really matters. It had me thinking long after I put it down.
If you love techy thrillers with emotional depth, a little cosmic chaos, and characters who feel real, definitely give this one a shot. So good!
“The Slide” by Aaron Ryan is a sci-fi thriller that hits both the head and the heart. It follows Dane, a teleportation pioneer whose invention might be the only shot at survival when a black hole threatens to wipe out Earth. What stood out most to me wasn’t just the scope of the disaster or the clever science; it was the emotional core. The story asks big questions: What does survival mean when we’re stripped of everything? What’s worth saving? And who do we become when the clock runs out? The book delivers plenty of suspense and twists, but it’s also quietly spiritual in places, with a bittersweet and powerful ending that hit me harder than expected. If you like your sci-fi with both brains and soul, this one’s worth the read.
The Slide by Aaron Ryan is a science fiction novel that explores technological developments that follow Dane, owner of a teleportation system known as Courier 3.1. This system brings revolutionary change to the world. But the world was going to face the danger of a massive black hole heading towards Earth, which would destroy the entire planet. The teleportation system may help the Earth escape the threats of catastrophe.
Dane and his friends teamed up to fight against and stop this massive force from coming. It is a must-read for fans of science and historical novels. The entire presentation of character was remarkable and well presented. The author writes a masterpiece that is a source of entertainment for the readers. The story is about survival, which appeals to the readers
Dane Currier knows that an extraordinary event is about to change life for him, and for all other humans as well. An enormous black hole is headed for the Milky Way galaxy. However, Dane designed a system that might be able to do something about it. Was he destined to create it for this very reason? And what will be the fate of Dane and a handful of others who seem poised to take decisive action and to potentially emerge as saviors of the human race?
This high concept sci-fi novel is provocative, entertaining, and thoroughly engrossing. The situation is frightening, the characters memorable, and the ending runs contrary to anything the reader might have suspected will happen. These traits all combine to make this an incredible ride.
The Slide by Aaron Ryan is a gripping science fiction story about Dane, the man responsible for creating Courier3.1. The system allows for teleportation, a function that is very unique and can completely change the world as we know it. But, something else is going on. A massive black-hole is headed to Earth. When it arrives all will come to an end. Humanity will cease to exist, all life on Earth will end, and the planet itself will be torn apart and vanish into the black. But, the Courier3.1 system might just be what is needed to avoid catastrophe. It becomes a race against time as Dane and his friends try to outrun the most powerful and dangerous force in the galaxy. Fans of hard science fiction will love this book. The author not only incorporates lots of action into the narrative, but the events are backed up with plenty of science that makes the story feel real. The characters are developed well and come across as being real and genuine. While this is a standalone novel I can see other stories connected to this event or to the characters that we meet along the way.
