Description

Who says romance is dead?👻💋🌙if you love Ashley Poston, My Best Friend's Wedding or Gossip Girl, You're the One that I Haunt is about to become your new obsession!

Libby Lakoski has started seeing ghosts.

Admittedly, it's not the worst thing that's happened to her today - that would be attending the engagement party of her best friend, Carter Coldwell, who she's secretly in love with. But it's definitely a close second.

And the ghost in question? Trip Coldwell, Carter's super hot, super annoying cousin, who's conveniently decided to haunt Libby until she helps to free him from the spirit realm.

Libby doesn't want to work with Trip, until he points out that his predicament has been caused by the infamous Coldwell curse that's hung over his family for generations - and will one day come for Carter too.

Desperate to save her best friend - and her chance at happily ever after - Libby agrees to help. But as she spends more time with the infuriatingly charming Trip, Libby soon realises she's being haunted by feelings for another Coldwell, too…

Libby Laboski has spent half her life in love with her best friend, Carter. Just when she thinks things cannot get any worse than having to attend his engagement party, she starts seeing the ghost of Carter’s not quite dead cousin, Trip.

Trip needs Libby’s help to break a curse on his family and, if she wants to save Carter’s life, she is going to have to work with him. What follows is a mix of chaos, emotional growth, and unexpected self discovery.

I loved this so much. Honestly, how is this a debut?

I genuinely struggled to find anything wrong with this book. It completely pulled me in and I did not want to put it down.

One of my favourite parts was the way Trip helped Libby grow into herself. He encourages her to realise that she is worth loving and that she does not need to shrink herself or hide parts of who she is just to make other people comfortable. That aspect of the story really stood out to me. Trip is also very much top tier book boyfriend material and I loved everything about him.

Libby starts off as such a people pleaser and someone who cannot really see herself outside of Carter. Watching her growth over the course of the book was so satisfying. It felt believable and natural, and I was rooting for her from the very beginning.

I ended up reading this in one sitting. I went in already quite excited because it reminded me a bit of Ghosted by Sarah Ready, and I was slightly worried it might feel too similar. It really did not. This story completely stands on its own and I loved that.

Another thing I really appreciated was the relationship between Libby and Sabrina. It would have been so easy to fall into clichés there, but instead of any cattiness, they build a genuine friendship that feels supportive and real. It was honestly refreshing to read.

I cannot wait to see what this author does next. For a debut novel, this completely blew me away. It was emotional, funny, and just really engaging from start to finish.

I also really enjoyed the epilogue and would absolutely love to see Carter get his own happy ending at some point.

Katie Jung is definitely one to watch.
