Description
What do the colors of my boogers mean when I have a cold? If I hold my pee too long, could my bladder explode? Why do bruises change color? Kids have so many pressing questions about the stuff their bodies do and what happens when they're sick. Pediatrician Betty Choi gives honest answers to 53 curious questions in this kid-friendly Q&A, with easy-to-follow, fun comics by illustrator Jannie Ho. Topics range from "Grub, Guts, and Glorious Waste" to "Silly Senses" and "Coughs, Colds, and Conundrums." In the process, Dr. Choi shows kids how amazing and resilient their bodies really are and that doctors are here to help.
Readers will:
- Engage with quirky and colorful comic illustrations
- Explore the major systems of the body in a fun Q&A format
- Learn how the body heals and how to care for the body
Advance Praise
"Bodies are weird, cool, gross, and fascinating! And this book starts with the juiciest, squirmiest stuff straight from page one... Choi’s enthusiasm and clever consideration of what questions kids (and plenty of grownups) puzzle over is a quirky delight—why do we have eyebrows, after all? For both young physiology fanatics and medically anxious little ones, Ho’s bubbly, bright illustrations anthropomorphize everything from kidneys to blisters to beach umbrellas, breaking down complex scientific subjects just enough to give readers a friendly entry point. VERDICT Entertaining, accessible, and thoughtfully crafted, an excellent addition to any children’s medical reference collection."—School Library Journal, starred review

The book was learning about your body, and it was soooo good. I don't know all the body parts, but I nailed it! I loved it! You should read it too. The book, so good!

This was such a fun, educational book! The illustrations were absolutely gorgeous and comical. Each section had lots of prompts, and I would have the kids guess/answer prior to reading them the real answer. This book was super engaging and kept all of our attention in wanting to read more. I highly recommend this book!

Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review an advance copy of this title.
This book is so much fun! The illustrations and light hearted tone, with all the organs being characters throughout the book, really keeps the child's interest and the information is to the point and succinct. I thought it was clever that the book was arranged into questions that kids would actually ask, which meant that my daughter could jump straight to the one she most wanted to know the answer to, and her interest was sustained by finding out more answers to more or the questions.
Oh wow! This is one of those "why did I have this when I was a kid?" book. This is a very entertaining, fun and informative graphic novel geared for kids. The early part of the book is a bit gross (poop, fart and vomit) so if your a bit sensitive with those topic, think twice. Nevertheless, it's a enjoyable ride taking health and science to kids. The artwork is nice just right for the book. I like all the topics covered by this comic and how the author response to each topic. Definitely kids will go crazy on this book.
