Lorcan and Hilly are an absolutely exquisite duo. With Lorcan bound to logic and Hilly bursting with energy and adventure, every reader will see themselves in either character or some mixture of both. Chris Vick captures the reality of making new friends and testing the bond of that friendship for that first time beautifully. Their friendship is one to be cherished throughout the novel and at times had me wanting to yell at the pages!

The story itself has a timelessness that makes it feel like its history and legend could be real, which is the crux of successful magical fiction. Immaculately grounded in setting, environment, people, and lore, you too will leave reading Sky Dancers questioning whether there’s a possibility this really happened. The visions and atmosphere conjured by Chris Vick’s wonderful writing will have you feeling as if you too could be dancing amongst the Cornish skies!

Whilst the main duo are centre stage, I want to take a moment to praise Ari and Caleb, who, in plenty of ways, I could’ve read a whole other book on. As much as for Lorcan and Hilly, my heart burst and deflated for them. They made me laugh and cry, all of their accord. Their stories alone are so fruitful, adding that extra sprinkle of finesse to the main plot, meaning they become secondary characters that the reader will hold dear too.

With the summer holidays up ahead, this is the ideal literary accompaniment to any trip ahead, whether that be abroad, a staycation or even to the garden chair because it’s transportive. Wherever you are when you read Sky Dancers, I guarantee you’ll be carried up to the sky in delight within pages!
