Description

Robert Donegan takes a job as a relief driver for a moving van headed from Los Angeles to Chicago. But when an attempted hijacking in Utah leaves two men dead, he escapes—only to discover a suitcase in the back filled with drugs and cash.

Before he can act, the suitcase disappears. The Chicago Mob and the Mexican Cartel will stop at nothing to get it back. Ian Martin and Rebecca Andrews of Martin Security step in to protect Robert and Tyne, while investigating the brutal murder of Tyne’s husband and the two women he was having affairs with. As local authorities join the search for the missing suitcase and the killers behind the gangland murders, Tyne and her brother are kidnapped by men demanding payment for their crimes.

Fast-paced and layered with intrigue, this gripping novel weaves together multiple investigations, deadly pursuits, and the takedown of two criminal empires—culminating in a powerful portrait of courage, justice, and the unbreakable will to survive.

Advance Praise

"A taut, character-driven tale of desperation, consequence, and the systems that close in [...] I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy fast-paced crime fiction with intersecting storylines and morally complex characters. It’s a story that reminds you that sometimes the most dangerous moment is not the crime itself, but the decision to walk away with something that was never yours." - Independent Book Review

"The author grabs readers' attention with a suspenseful introduction that sets the stage for an intricate tale about a murder investigation, a failed heist, and ruthless syndicate networks trying to fix their mistakes. The prose is gritty, whether it was the shooting, the bloody crime scenes, or the sexual abuse of victims of the mob. Some scenes left my heart pounding, and others left me terrified with the display of extreme callousness. The more I read the story, the more questions I had, and the more I turned the pages to get answers." - Reader's Favorite
