Rohan Hood and the Kooky Starlights was such a fun and imaginative adventure. I loved the creativity of the story and how it blended humor, friendship, and action in a way that would be great for younger readers. The characters were entertaining, and the story had a playful energy that kept things moving. It’s the kind of book that encourages imagination while still delivering a meaningful message about courage and teamwork.

First of all, the world-building in this book is incredibly well developed. Parts of the setting feel strangely familiar—not necessarily because we would physically recognize the place, but because its misery and dystopian atmosphere reflect things we recognize from our own world. Then there is the mysterious side of the story: the part we are never quite sure how to interpret or what to believe.

This book has so many layers. It is filled with meaningful lessons and plenty of action, while also being a strong coming-of-age story. I don’t want to say too much and spoil the experience, but I will say that the ending definitely leaves the door open for a sequel.

The story often reminded me of the movie The Wiz. For readers who may not be familiar with that movie, Alice in Wonderland offers another good comparison. The book has that same feeling of entering a strange, unpredictable world filled with unusual characters, hidden meanings, and challenges along the way.

Honestly, it is difficult to say much more without giving everything away! Just know that this is a wonderfully layered story containing important lessons and delightful hints of familiar fairy tales and folktales.
